Had a lovely 7 day family vacation. The oldest 81 and the youngest 9. The location afforded relaxation for everyone. The "Welcome Gift"... a complimentary bottle of wine was a lovely gesture. The house was well appointed, the pantry and spice cupboard stocked. The four seasons room was spacious for dining and family game nights. The beds were comfortable and plenty of towels were provided. The hot tub was clean, the lake calm and peaceful. Beach towels for everyone was also very nice. It was fun to get out in the boat and catch a few fish with my folks and paddling with my son in the canoe was awesome.. Overall... A great time and a great location!

This place is absolutely amazing, smack dab in the middle of some of Michigans finest wineries. Mona is very hospitable and very attentive to detail, the lake house is amazing. The decor and well kept property will have you feeling so relaxed and comfortable, my wife and I stayed for Memorial Day weekend and enjoyed ourselves so much we are already talking about going back. I highly recommend this place, you will not be disappointed.

I went solo with my dog for a retreat and this was a perfect spot -I look forward to returning with the family. Nestled in the woods in the wine country and central to everything the house sits on a small private lake on an acre and a half lot. It is secluded and quiet. The house is eloquently equipped and could easily support a family of 8. Everything you could do outdoors is considered from fishing to boating to games like horse shoes. The hot tub is spectacular; there is a grand stone fireplace inside and large fire pit outside. The owner considered everything from a thoughtful appointed fully functioning kitchen to a surround sound system. It’s a magical spot. Well cared for. Owner was very helpful.

I enjoyed my stay here. The house is nice and has great views of woods and the lake. It is not in Union Pier, but 20-25 mins outside of Union Pier and Benton Harbor. Had a great stay and Mona is super communicative and helpful.

Lovely home. Stunning location. We were very comfortable. Well appointed kitchen. Great linens and pillows. Cool woodsy hot tub with changing colorer lights. Fabulous correspondence with owners. Easy check in and out. Highly recommend morning coffee with sunrise on the dock. Note: the upper balcony attached to master bedroom is not accessible - our only disappointment with the property. Perfect for all ages - our group ranged from 25 to 55. Loved the wineries, beaches, dunes, trails and fun shops nearby! Mona is a delightful host and gave us some excellent recommendations for food and fun!

We had a great weekend away at Mona’s lovely property. It is close to great wineries and restaurants, but just relaxing at the house with the lake, fire pit and tranquil scenery is wonderful as well. Hope to come back soon! Thanks for a great stay!

Perfect getaway for our anniversary weekend. Beautiful house and great location. Our Goldendoodle loved swimming in the lake

Wish we could have stayed even longer. Good communication with Mona & speedy correction of concerns or answers to questions. Loved swimming in the private lake, or just sitting on the dock. Close to multiple activities of choice, perfect scenery of vineyards & orchirds on the drives. Wish we could have used the upper deck, but understand rationale-- same type of cocerns with my childhood home. Would love to see the addition of a railing on the stairs down to the lake.

Highly recommended house in a beautiful setting. The home is quiet, and peaceful. The lake is beautiful and the water is clean. A great place for a romantic get away. Lots to see and do, winery's, national parks and good restaurants. The owner provides great service and great information about the area. I will definitively consider visiting again.

House was even better than listed. Super comfy, lovely location, close to many amazing places, including Warren State Park. My 22, 19 and 16 y-o sons and their girlfriends loved the place, as did my dogs. Magical, lovely vacation, and host checked in to make sure all was well. Can't recommend enough! Much needed vacation for all of us, fabulous location, clean, well cared for. A million thanks to host and cleaning crew!!! If you are looking for a quiet getaway with lots to do, look no further! You will be well cared for. Host checked in with us while we were traveling to make sure we had all possible local itineraries covered. Checked in during our stay, and while we were on our way home. Total class act. Stay here -- you will not be disappointed!

We packed the house on the weekend of February 24, 2023 and everybody loved it! We had 2 adults, 5 kids and 2 dogs. We did not feel cramped. The house itself is lovely and it is situated on a beautiful, quiet lake where the houses are set back. The hot tub was fantastic! It is a short drive to Warren Dune State Park and Weko Beach in Bridgman, which is a great dog-friendly beach. The house is also so close to Dablon Vineyard that you could walk there. Also, the host was very kind and helpful. We highly recommend!

It was a great spot for a weekend with friends. We loved the hot tub and fireplace. The tucked in location on the lake was perfect. It was easy to get anywhere we wanted to go for the weekend. I can only imagine how great it would be in the summer with full use of the lake!

We LOVED this rental home, and found it to be secluded, beautiful and woodsy. We arrived to a lovely arrival gift, which included a toy for our beloved dog. We all swam off the pier in the quiet lake, it was exactly what I had imagined. Love the cabiny feel of the house, older kitchen, but totally functional and fully equipped. The canoe and fishing boat were perfect. The only stinker was the bed. The king sized mattress in the upstairs suite slumps in the center, so as relaxing as the days were, the sleep was not as restful as it should have been, be on a comfortable bed! My 12 yr old also said his twin wasn't comfy, so you might need to update/upgrade all the mattresses. If that happens, I'll be returning., without a doubt! Other than that, this was our best rental yet, and met all our other expectations.

I had a wonderful winter weekend with my boyfriend and our dog. The property is at the end of a road, so there is a peaceful feeling of privacy. With a backdrop of a wooded hill, a serene lake, and a hot tub tucked away in trees, it was a perfect oasis. It was very close to wineries. We will definitely be back!

Mona is a great host. Great communication throughout our entire stay. Peaceful location, clean, and nice weekend getaway from the bustling city of Chitown. We were celebrating my fiancé’s 30th birthday and were welcomed with a bottle of wine and chocolate for s’mores over the fire pit. Overall an amazing weekend getaway!

The Sanctuaire was all that is advertised, it is secluded but not too secluded, very clean with all the comforts of a luxury lake house.

21st Annual Girls Trip
For 8 active ladies (mid 50’s - mid 60’s) this property was perfect for our 21st annual girls trip! We were greeted by a nice bottle of wine, some chocolate and a welcoming note from the owner, Mona. Many times we were all together at the large table on the enclosed porch sharing a meal, having drinks and playing games. We took full advantage of all the amenities - spending time on the deck, in the canoe, at the fire pit and in the hot tub. The property was clean and is large enough for every to spread out and relax together or separately both inside and out. As described in the property info, everything you need right at your fingertips from charcoal and life jackets to spices and extra bedding. I wouldn’t have the space to list all the things that are available for use. The owner really did think of everything to make for a no stress - no worries stay! Mona gave us the best recommendations on a great local beach (Weko Beach), and a great winery to enjoy dinner and drinks (Tabor Hill Winery & Restaurant. ). This property would also be perfect for a family trip or even some solo time away! Being an early bird I enjoyed sitting on the dock at sunrise listing to the wildlife and made sure to catch a couple sunsets as well. This property lives up to is name for sure!

Wine country getaway
Santuaire was as advertised. Wonderful home, well stocked kitchen, great porch, and Singer Lake right outside your door.
Taking a walk through the surrounding vineyards was a lot of fun as was visiting the surrounding wineries. Close to all that is available in Harbor Country.

Enjoyed even a cold and snowy long weekend at Sanctuaire. Great location near wineries and winter sports. Hot-tub is amazing and delightful even in cold weather. Mona is a wonderfully communicative host. Would go back in a minute.

Peaceful getaway
The setting was beautiful and peaceful. The home was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked with cookware and dishes.
The three main things that I would like to suggest. First instructions, preferably detailed, on how to operate the television. There were 5 remotes and we could not get any reception. Second, at least one soft mattress and/or a mattress foam topper that can be placed on the bed for guests that prefer a softer mattress. Third, some type of air freshener such as potpourri. There was a bit of a musty odor in the home.

Weekend Getaway
Our children had a Friday off from school so we decided to spend the three-day weekend away in Michigan. This rental met all of our needs and we felt right at home when we arrived. This property is quiet, relaxing and simply stunning. We look forward to another weekend here soon!

Seclusion, piece and tranquility... are just a few words to describe our stay.
After 2 years of being separated due to the Pandemic, we had a small family gathering over Labor Day week end. Sanctuaire was the perfect set up for good times, relaxation, good food and spending time together. There is plenty to do between the hot tub, the lake, the boats provided, the fire pit (Hello Smores and Ghost stories). The cabin is rustic yet very comfortable and cozy (though we didn't spend much time indoors) and just a short drive from wineries, Grocery stores and Lake Michigan.
Mona was very responsive and the package provided is very helpful (even includes a bunch of dog friendly activities)...
Just one thing: it is in the middle of beautiful mature trees, greenery and is on the water... so don't forget the Bug spray!
Thank you Mona for welcoming us to Sanctuaire!

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Sanctuaire. The house itself is beautiful and clean. The beds and furniture were comfortable. The kitchen was stocked and worked for a week long of cooking. Really appreciated the grill (and that they had a back up tank). It was also nice that they supplied some of the necessities like toilet paper, sandwich bags, etc. The sheet thread count and towels were a nice touch. The location was great as it was a remote "get away from it all" feeling in a forest with a nice view of the lake, but 15 minutes from Lake Michigan and town to do things.
Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate for the fire pit and hot tub (it was way too warm), but nothing in anyone's control.
I read in other reviews a lot of criticism about the notes / instructions, but I find that criticism unwarranted. I did not think there were not that many, and all of them were helpful, meant to make your stay easier and keep the house functioning well. Additionally, the owner makes it clear before you book, that you cannot have any additional guests during your stay. If you don't like that rule, then don't stay here. I know other houses may not have the rule, but she clearly communicates it and you agree to it when you sign the contract.
My criticism is around the lake. I didn't realize it would be such a long, steep walk down to the lake. The steps were very steep (even for my tall husband) and there was no railing. Additionally, the lake, even though it said it was a swimming lake, really just seem meant for boating / canoeing / kayaking. The depth, lack of beach and vegetation didn't make it inviting to swim in. My family is spoiled with swimming in Lake Michigan, so I realize that this might not bother others.
It was also a little disappointing that you could not go out on the upstairs balcony. It is understandable given that it causes issues, but think it would be a greater asset if the owner can address it to make it accessible again.
Overall, it was a nice, clean house in a great location.

Sanctuaire is just that -- a sanctuary within reach. The house worked well and was appointed with every convenience. We particularly enjoyed the hot-tub, the canoe, and the lakefront ambiance. There's nothing like cocktails on the dock at dusk, listening to the sounds of silence, to lower the blood pressure and heighten the appreciation of nature. Mona was the perfect host and was attentive to our occasional needs. We thoroughly enjoyed the location and the ability to explore the area. The Fernwood Botanical Garden outside nearby Buchanan is a must.

I should warn any future renters of several things for which I was unprepared: There are about 25 steep stairs from the house to the dock and no railing whatsoever (up to code?); having stayed in several VRBO properties in the past, I do not remember having to sign multiple pages of rules and regulations, with FIRM instructions about the stay and the monetary penalties one might incur for violations; the hot tub MUST be kept at 104 degrees (highest temp recommended)
which was far too warm for the children with us. I sometimes felt a bit paranoid that someone was watching our every move. No mosquitoes.

We had an awesome experience at “Sanctuaire”. The hot tub was delightful and had a picturesque view of the lake. We also enjoyed the tranquility of “Sanctuaire”” along with the easy access to many wineries, dining and shopping.
