Genoa, well-known port city and capital of Liguria region, is historically known for its important role in maritime trade over the past centuries.
Known as one of the most extensive medieval historical centers in Europe, the heart of Genoa is a maze of alleys that unexpectedly open up into small squares, often related, like the churches overlooking them, to important noble families.
The spirit of Genoa lies in the alleys, where different smells, tastes, languages and cultures perfectly blend in.
In the historical center is the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, in Romanesque style with a black and white striped façade and frescoed interiors. Narrow streets lead to monumental squares such as the Piazza de Ferrari, with its characteristic bronze fountain, and the Carlo Felice opera house.
The Genoa aquarium, the largest in Europe, is unmissable and iconic. The exhibition itinerary shows more than 70 environments and about 12,000 specimens of 600 species, coming from all the seas of the world. An unforgettable experience for young and old, which will fill your heart with emotions and a deeper respect for the sea and its extraordinary inhabitants.
Not to be missed is Genoa’s culinary tradition, with its iconic basil pesto, famous all over the world, and the “focaccia”, which can be either salted and topped with olives, onion and tomato, or even sweet and stuffed.
Genova airport is 15 minutes drive away from the apartment, while Genova Principe Station is 1,5 km away.

After all these years using VRBO, this is the first stumbled experience. The location of the apartment is great. Easy to get around all major landmarks around and Hop on Hop off stop near by as well.
As to the apartment, bathrooms and showers are so outdated that easily fit the description of disgusting. Mold everywhere, Dirty walls, peeling paint... The furniture dirty and all dressers and table had so much dust on it?!? Doesn't the ownership has any pride renting their properties? There was every day issue with the power in the apartment tripping the fuses?!? I would recommend this property to anyone.

The Bathroom had a leak in ceiling. It was wet and paint chips were falling down. Check in host swept up the chips but they were all over the counter and floor in the morning. Due to old building, I am sure it was lead based paint. We did not use this sink during our visit. My Daughter and daughter in-law have asthema and both of them had problems with their lungs while visiting. The other 3 adults could smell mold but had no issues. The host said they would credit us $20.00 late check in fee to compensate ! ! ! Plus, the check in assistant advised us the host was allowing another tenant the day we left. This is wrong to rent a home with mold and active leaking ceiling. I have photos to veriify this.
The owners have many properties and were not looking after their visitors best interest. *** PLUS, there were 2 cockroachs in main bathrooms tub.
