Mangrove Cove is the best of Florida; a secluded, natural location with Lemon Bay waterfront, and access to a private Gulf Beach directly across the street. Nearby is the charm of Englewood, and the sophisticated attractions of Sarasota. Both units of this fully updated duplex exude Old Florida charm. The one acre setting is green, leafy and cool. There are kayaks for a paddle on Lemon Bay. Maybe the dolphins will join you! The private Gulf beach, to which guests have full access, is directly across the street.
Each unit of the duplex is 1 bed, 1 bath, with kitchen and lanai. Rent separately or together with Unit 2 for complete privacy.
Welcome to the Beach!

Didn’t start out the best when we arrived at PGD & I realized I hadn’t received a code to get into the unit, but the renting contact was fairly easy to contact & told me the code as well as messaged it to me. Easy access to the beach & bay, though renovations were going on at the beach access point so that created some noise during the day while visiting the beach. Moving a little way down the beach helped. The mattress was uncomfortable for me, but my husband didn’t complain much about it. The WiFi was extremely slow, even after rebooting the router.

Loved the convenient access to the beach, the unit is very well stocked with anything and everything you need. We met Carol and Sher and both ladies were very helpful answering any questions. We made very good friends with the guests in unit one. The weekend storm brought tons is shells to the beach. PARADISE. Dave and Deena

The Perfect Get Away
This little, old Florida cottage in the residential and densely vegetated portion of Manasota Key was very clean and well appointed with everything we needed. The peaceful, quiet and natural setting was "just what the doctor ordered" to get away from the hustle and bustle of normal daily life.

Nice place to stay. Centrally located to other beaches. Everything you could need in the duplex and more. Kayaks available were fun to use in the inner-coastal. Sher was very helpful and friendly.

Shark Tooth Hunter
We had a lovely week, the weather was perfect and the duplex was quaint and very well kept. We were there to relax and enjoy the ocean and we found over 500 sharks teeth! I would recommend this unit and hope to return next year!

Absolutely gorgeous place! Kayaking by the mangroves along the shoreline, resting on the private beach with herons and sandpipers - just amazing! The accommodations were so clean and neat too - I felt at home there and I was so comfortable. Thank you so much and I hope to return soon ♡

My husband, daughter and I had a great, relaxing stay! The beach was serene, private, and very clean. The home had a beach stroller, boogie boards, umbrella, sand toys, and beach chairs available for our use. The home was clean and stocked. The outside shower and outside foot hose were helpful to keep the sand to a minimum in the home. Restaurants and other activities were 15-20 minute drive from the home. My 5 y/o daughter added to this review: "A shout out-it's amazing".

A most wonderful 2 week stay in March 2019.
This 1 bedroom cottage is very clean spacious, bright, comfortable well equipped, and has a very homey feel.
The proximity to a basically private beach on the gulf is unique and so very special, and the garden and surrounding natural foliage and plantings, are spectacular. Carol provides quality towels, beach chairs and umbrella, which we had never used before when at the beach , however now wouldn't do without!
We took the kayaks on site into Lemon Bay behind the cottage, and also to Stump Pass for a lovely paddle.
We hiked in the Lemon Bay Preserve, plus took in a play at the Lemon Bay Playhouse by our very favourite prolific Canadian Playwright, Norm Foster. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this beautiful and quiet oasis. This was a most fabulous rental experience and we hope to return to next year.
Thank you Carol for providing this exceptionally time away, and for being such a great communicator.

The most perfect, relaxing get-away ever!!!
Hard to describe how completely relaxing and enjoyable Mangrove Cove is!! A wonderful seemingly private beach on the gulf complete with shark's teeth, abundant sea shells, beautiful water and incredible sunsets just a short walk away. Then just a few steps in the other direction, Lemon Bay complete with good fishing (sheepshead, trout, snook and reds), kayaking - at times along-side dolphins and gorgeous sunrises! The grounds are a tropical wonder and the residence is very well supplied with everything needed for a great vacation get-away both inside and out!

We wanted quiet comfort. We got it. Plus little extras.

Quaint & Cozy
My family rented a property nearby 2 years ago and I fell in love with the privacy and seclusion of the area. I hate over-developed, crowded touristy areas and love the "old Florida" feel of this section of Manasota Key! This time I needed to get away by myself, so needed something smaller. Mangrove Cove was great, very clean, quiet and just the right size. The property itself isn't quite as perfect as the one I rented before which had a clear view of the bay, but it was still very nice and reasonably priced. The unit was extremely clean, and the beach was just across the street. I found so many great shells of all different kinds, saw baby iguanas in the trees near the house and huge adults on the rocks by the beach, and found some fossilized shark teeth, including a fragment of either a great white or juvenile megaladon. The only small issue was I could not get the TV to work following the provided instructions, but I had plenty of books to read. It's the perfect size for one person or a couple, and I would definitely stay there again.

A short walk to the beach and bay
Love the area and the privacy. Also a short walk to the beach where we found many sharks teeth.

This place is cozy, in the 1950's, 60's beach cottage style I grew up with and enjoy.
Robin and I had a great stay. We caught the Red Tide but, it is what it is, and we made the best of it. East wind good, West wind bad. It just makes us want to try again next year. Beach was vacant, shells and teeth galore. Turtles up every night. We flew in to Punta, which is the easiest in and out airport I have ever seen. Bought and left a nice new spinning rod and soft cooler for the next guy and I plan on seeing it again ! Soon ! I wouldn't change a thing about this place. Mike and Robin from Tennessee...

Wish I Could Afford to Buy It!
CUTE, spiffy-clean, well-supplied, roomy! If you yearn for luxury choose someplace else but if you appreciate a vintage beach cottage then this is where you want to be. Carol, your host, instantly responds to any questions you might have. The short walk to the beach is an easy stroll through lush tropical greenery. The beach itself is the cleanest one you will ever see and is privately YOURS most of the time for several hundred feet in either direction. Shells, shark teeth and other small fossils in abundance. We were privileged to be there during sea turtle nesting season and saw tracks in the sand each morning leading to the nesting sites. Would I go again? You bet!

We loved our stay! Everything you need is at the property, very peaceful and beautiful. We would definitely stay again!

Excellent location on Manasota Keys
Cute and clean cottage style duplex. Love the location and privacy of the beach! Found thousands of sharks teeth. Beautiful sunsets !
4.8
unit was in the northern end of Manasota Key, with shopping & restaurants about 6 to 8 miles, away.
Window A.C. was extremely noisey, tv audio was very tinney, only lowest teir cable stations available; several nights during our stay got in the low 40's and the unit had no heat. This was not our cup of tea. Interior felt worn. Internet signal was very strong, and Carol manager/owner was very responsive to a plumbing that arose.

A nature lovers dream!
A month of pure heaven in a tropical paradise. Peace, quiet, serenity, a secluded beach, bay, fishing, Kayaking, shell, shark teeth and fossil hunting, perfect weather and wonderful birds everywhere. Excellent restaurants and shopping relatively close but far enough away to avoid crowds! The most gracious hosts imaginable, a very well kept and supplied abode - really could ask for nothing better! Looking forward to our return next year!!

Amazing Getaway
We spent a wonderful week at Mangrove Cove! The property is just as described and pictured - very cozy & quiet, steps from Lemon Bay and the Gulf and has everything you need for a relaxing stay! Carol responded promptly to all questions and was very helpful. We spent our days searching for sharks teeth (found hundreds), biking, hiking and ended each day on the beach watching the AMAZING sunsets! We will definitely stay with Carol again & hopefully for 2 weeks!

The time went so fast!
We had a great time at Mangrove Cove! The place was clean and close to the beach. Our week went so fast. If you like finding sharks' teeth, you will love this place. We found over 2,000 teeth during our stay. The walk to the beach is short, and it is not at all crowded. Carol responds quickly, and she seems to really want you to have a great stay. If you like peace and quiet, you will find it here.

The secrets of Mangrove Cove
A gem between the Bay and Ocean. Peace and quiet. A cute property with all the equipment inside and out that you would need for a seaside holiday. Just a stones throw from the virtually deserted sandy beach or bay. Great for fossil hunters young and old to collect sharks teeth and fossil bone straight on the beach, also an array of pretty shells.
Plenty of places to see and activities to do in the area.
Friendly owners, who respond to requests and want you to enjoy your holiday.
We loved it and wished we'd stayed longer than a week.

Beautiful Escape
Manasota Key is a hidden treasure. Mangrove Cove was an affordable way to visit this special island. The cottage was well equipped and you could access both Lemon Bay for kayaking and the beach in 3 minte walks. Shelling was fabulous. A great spot to visit other locales such as Sarasota and the Fort Myers/Naples areas also. The southern end of the island has good restaurants and the Town of Englewood is 10 minutes away also.

Retro 50s with modern communications
What a great place for a honeymoon, special anniversary or just get away from it all. If you don't want to see the throngs of people that crowd the public beaches this is for you. Your own gulf beach that has shells, rocks and ancient shark teeth that haven't been picked over. Walk the other direction and you are paddling the calm waters of a bay. Night life or great food is just five minutes away in town but once you settle into one of the lounge chairs or beach chairs with your feet on the water, you may not want to put on your cloths and go to town, unless you need more tan lotion. With full coverage cell service and cable TV you can decide how much or little you want to stay in touch. This is how people fell in love with Florida 75 years ago and this just may be your happy place you go to in your mind when your stuck in traffic during a January snow storm.

Loved the percieved remoteness but close to beach and dining and shopping.
It was everything as advertised. A water wonderland with fishing in Lemon Bay. My favorite thing to do was of course walking that great beach, looking for treasures. Kayaking in Lemon Bay was also good. Time went way to fast.

Amazing Experience!! 10 stars!!
Wow...Where can I start about this wonderful property? I was very lucky to come across this little gem in my travel search. Carol was extremely kind, caring, friendly, helpful, generous, and accommodating...I couldn't have asked for a better person to rent from. Her place is located in the most beautiful environment...you literally feel like you are in your own little jungle! It was so nice to wake up every morning and look outside at all the greenery. The location to the beach was perfect...the shortest walk to your own little "private" beach! I found over 400 sharks teeth on that beach alone, and many many shells!! It is also within 2 miles of 2 other public beaches! Would be a great place to ride bikes. Carol also thought of every amenity you could need at her beach getaway. Wifi was strong, Cable, towels, beach supplies, etc. The bed was really comfortable and so was the couch. I slept like a baby because it was so quiet!! I would absolutely return to Carol's place and hope I am able too in the future! I recommend this property highly! Its by far one of my Favorite rentals I've ever been too. It is also close to wonderful restaurants on the gulf, and a jet ski/boat rental place! Thanks again Carol...I hope to visit again soon!
