The location, breakfast and garden were amazing.
The service was not great. For the price we paid and the type of hotel, I expected much better service. For example, I was in the middle of getting ready, asked for an iron and was instructed to come down to reception to get it myself. Also, every time I wanted to order a coffee or something from the bar, I had to wait and look for people that work there. Also, we originally stayed in a deluxe room which was nice but really dark, then we extended our stay and were moved to a room that was outside of the main hotel building. The "room" is clearly part of a 2 bedroom apartment because to get to the room we had to walk through a living room that had someone's personal belongings all over the place. We tried to address this with the staff, but all they said is that the guest staying in the other room (that also has access to the same living room) refused to remove their things. This room we were given was only separated by a sliding door so there was no sound proofing so we could hear the other guests as if they were in the same room as us.

Durante il soggiorno abbiamo avuto la possibilità di provare i prodotti locali sia per la colazione sia per i prodotti da bagno e profumazione. Il personale è sempre stato molto gentile e accogliente

The staff were amazing, so welcoming. The hotel was in a great location. No complaints!
Not enough time in our holiday to stay two nights! We only stayed for one! Wish we could have stayed longer.

The service especially around the garden bar was perfect. The location generally but also the proximity to the village.
Air conditioning way short of standard. Wasps at the pool steps stopping people entering the pool

We discovered this hotel by accident and at the last minute about 7 years ago. When we decided to go back to visit Italy, this was number one on our list. It is romantic, historical with a beautiful large garden ideal for having a glass of wine before or after dinner. We made use of the spa and had a wonderful couples massage as well has having dinner and complimentary breakfast in their restaurant. It is a relaxing, get away from it all, kind of hotel in the middle of a classic Tuscan medieval village on a hill top. Walking around the village transports you into another time. It will always be on our list of places to visit and stay when we next come to Italy. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone passing through Tuscany! The staff are wonderful as well - helpful, vibrant, knowledgeable and enthusiastic!
The only thing I wish, is that the rooms were air conditioned. The first time we went was in the Spring so it was not necessary. This time it was late June and air conditioning would have been nice. but in the grand scheme of things, it was minor.

Beautiful gardens and a fun, spacious room. really friendly staff and amazing location.
AC in room didn’t work. Very limited toiletries in bathroom given amount spending on room (eg no conditioner, body wash and shampoo in one)

historic building in the heart of a small historic town. Staff were friendly.
We were left a bit disappointed and, relative to the other places we stayed (€130-180), Capitano was not good value for money. The room was good rather than stellar. There was no view from window, no coffee, milk or creamer in the room, and only 3 teabags provided. The hotel bar did not open until 11am, which meant getting a coffee in the morning in the room wasn’t possible. Breakfast is severed in another building, a 5 min walk away, which is fine but not as relaxed as if it had been nearer the room. Breakfast itself was fairly cramped and felt rushed rather than relaxing. Due to the village being mainly traffic free, you will need to park the car a 5 min walk away in the main car park. Each of these things might be minor in isolation but as a collective they do not justify the price tag. Unless you are absolutely wedded to staying at the heart of this village, you can get really beautiful places to stay in Tuscany for a third to half the cost. Personally, we would not stay at Capitano again but would happily stay at the other two places - one was an agrotourism and the other was a whole apartment. with kitchen and lounge, with lovely views of the Tuscan countryside.

staff was helpful and nice. dinner was very good and little village of San Quirico was cute.
not as advertised. so many steps and our room was called ‘presidential suite’ but was tight and very low ceilings in bedroom area. breakfast was mediocre and inconvenient since it was a tiny walk from hotel. also for the price paid for the room would be nice to have included hot tub or spa facilities.

great location

Beautiful secluded garden with a saltwater pool in a lovely Tuscan village. Room and accommodation were wonderful and staff could not have done more. Village itself is small and charming with a lovely square with restaurants around it (and a trebuchet which is clearly a bonus). Tortoises in the breakfast garden were a hit with the kids. Wonderful place, would definitely stay again.
Minor thing only but a bit of noise from the air-con fan in our room.

I liked the breakfast, and the place is nice too
I didn’t like the room , it had no privacy at all the roof top sofa bed was overlooking the bed downstairs and the jacuzzi too. and they said they would offer a free massage but when ever I called the reception to book no body picked up, plus the ac didn’t work properly

Location was great and like it’s a heritage spot
Air conditioning was useless so rooms brutally hot. Rooms noisy. Cheapest single roll of toilet paper. Check in process was manual and laborious. Checkin was at 3 and not a minute before (couples lined up to checkin so long wait time) and then all restaurants closed so no way to have lunch.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. It was a luxurious haven in the middle of Tuscany. Unique, stunning with outstanding service.
The bed was not solid. Our bed moved every time my partner moved.

I loved everything about this place, the staff was very lovely, they even upgraded us with a room with a jacuzzi because it was our honeymoon. I was so impressed with the place and it really was the highlight of our stay there.
Nothing. I would recommend to stay in this hotel for a great experience!

The staff, the garden, the pool, the restaurant and the location . Decor and general ambience.
It would have been nice to have had tea making facilities in the room.

Breakfast offered options with meats & cheeses, fruits and yogurt or cereals; juice, coffee/tea, breads or croissants. We optionally added an omelette with side of sautéed seasonal veggies to share. Gluten free packaged bread available. Service was friendly and efficient in covered but outside area a short walk from hotel. We also had two dinners here that were excellent including fresh salad, homemade pasta and steak with mushrooms and bottle of red wine. With hotels help we were able to park our car in a safe lot a short walk from our room.
The bathroom was modern, attractive and shower pressure excellent. Some wall hooks would have been useful. The metal water pipes above the bidet allowed us to hang some hand washing. The door had no stop and could have hit the wall behind. A optional dim light would help you navigate in the dark without having to turn on the bright light and fan.
Our room, the Quirico, had a shared living room in first floor, good if two couples or friends travel together. The bedroom & bath was up stairs, separately locked. There was an open closet area with half hanging space and two shelves. Top shelf covered with Elec kettle, cups etc and bottom shelf with refrigerator abd safe. I moved all the top shelf items to safe shelf and opened my suitcase on the upper shelf. Otherwise there was no room for two open suitcases.

charming but missed a few small details
parking is very inconvenient and no valet, staff needs more training. no bathrobes in the room. mould in the bathroom
