It's a decent place for a couple nights if you're in town.
It doesn't feel exactly welcoming.

Very dirty, sheets dirty, same with kitchen, dont stay here. Go anywhere else. Sleep in your car instead.

It was the cheapest we could find and the other travellers staying seemed nice.
If you are working in the area, this may be good for you. As everyone else staying seemed to be working and getting up at 6-7am for work. Living room space for socialaliaing and garden deck for the summer.
Despite us seeing the place being cleaning both mornings, the place didn't feel clean. I don't think the bedrooms were cleaned at all. And the cleaning/hoovering would happen so early in the morning.
No privacy in the dorms, and no doors are locked to the dorm or the door to the building, so something to bare in mind about your valuables (we left them in the car). We never used the key.
Dorm and living room and kitchen were cold. Only appeared to be 1 fork and a few spoons for so many people. Bunkbeds were so squeaky and wobbled whenever we rolled over. When we turned up, the other people staying had their stuff all over our beds, so I don't know if the beds were clean. No one was present to check us in for 30 minutes.

I was excepted as one of the group, was great to mix with the youngsters and learn of their homes and countries.
Not enough time in Blenheim . The weather was not the best either.

liked my own room
no issues, although an old building it still suited what I needed

loved the decoration and it felt like all needs for someone staying were catered for - extension cables for plugs were so nice to have
it was a little cold at night but it wasn’t a massive problem and I fell back to sleep quickly

Really friendly and kind owners!

Cheap, right in the centre of Blenheim. Social but not a party hostel. Lots of medium term travelling hostel stayers working in the vineyard.
Cleaned daily but facilities a bit run down.
- The private room is essentially in the shed. It was not sound proof but it’s fine for a couple of nights. It was clean.
- Kitchen can get a little busy
- The set up is a house with the rooms converted to dorms and the shed converted to private rooms. the grass area in the backyard is used for tents

Thank you Lawrelle for all the help you’ve given us.
I had to stay only 4 days and I finally stayed 3 weeks.
The atmosphere at Jack was great.
The garden is great, the barbecues, the dorms...
I’ll come back and say hi.

Prompt communication with the hosts and easy check in process, however it was not clean.
Couches smelled, the bathrooms were icky with mould and ants, and the beds had no top sheet so not sure how often the duvet covers were cleaned. I also had a terribly uncomfortable, saggy and creaky bunk.

bunk bed was pretty loud (squeaked)

Nice staff, nice garden, decent rooms and kitchen etc. enjoyed the extras - gym weights, bbq and roller shares. Lawrelle was lovely and v helpful :))

If all you need is a bed for one night and no shower, then this fits the bill. The beds are comfortable and the curtains blacked out the street lights well. The free WiFi is good, but it does stifle conversation with everyone on their phones all the time!
The place is old and run down, inside and out. The bathrooms have tiny sinks and of the three showers, only one offers any privacy. The kitchen is cramped with very little room for food prep. Not enough dry tea towels and the free tea & coffee was empty. Lighting in the bunk room was harsh, a single bulb in the ceiling with no shade. The top windows were painted shut. Not somewhere that you would want to stay for more than one night.

Value for money
Location is very convenient
Flexibility of the property owner and she was very nice and helpful.
The dorm I spent the last day was bit messy and stinky. But then again it’s because of other people staying in the same dormitory. Maybe the property owner could advise people on that.

Good and relaxed atmosphere. Comfortable beds. Recycling.
Very old and broken furniture outside/garden.
