Comfortable cosy room, friendly staff. Shame I couldn't try the breakfast.
The shower and bathroom felt very cramped for me.

Very friendly. Clean and comfortable.

The dinner menu was thoughtfully sourced from Exmoor. Breakfast choices were varied and delicious. Milk for the room was provided in thermos flasks, not small plastic tubs.

Gorgeous location. Comfy cosy room and delicious food.
Stairs a bit noisy as uncarpeted but not too troubling.

I'm a returning customer (but not frequently)
My son and I travelled from Ireland by motorcycle to tour some of Somerset, Cornwall and Devon.
The Lorna Doone is ideally situated for a weekend such as ours.
Our hosts provided off road parking for us which was perfect for our needs.
The staff were extremely friendly and courteous and the breakfasts very good.
WiFi was spot on.
All told, it was very good indeed.
Not a dislike per se but, an observation.
There's no lift and if you've an upstairs room and a bit challenged mobility wise, the stairways might present a bit of a problem.
The bars nice 'n cosy but if you're a beer drinker there's no draught beer.
Good selection of the bottled stuff though!

Very cosy and welcoming. Staff were lovely. Bed was really comfortable, but heater wasn’t working in my room. Full English breakfast was probably the best I have ever had.
Heater not working in my bedroom. It was pretty cold. As I didn’t realise till after midnight it was too late to let them know.

Beautiful hotel. Stayed for New Year's Eve. Owners/staff were warm and friendly. Great breakfast with lots of choice with good quality local produce.
Stunning views from the room I stayed in of the sea, village and hills. Little touches added to the nostalgia of the romance of Exmoor as written in the novel Lorna Doone.

Good location. Accommodated early check in
No Wi-Fi in the room I was staying in (top floor) and room quite pokey - shower was tiny. Window very noisy with storm in the night. TV intermittently functioning. Room did not resemble pictures online.

The room was very small.

Room was smallish but well appointed. Downstairs rooms were well presented and immaculate. Breakfast was excellent.
Room was compact but for just one night it was fine. Opening hours were restricted but I understand the owners need a break.

The public areas are nice and the breakfast was delicious.
The bar in the evening was nice and we had a nice drink.
The staff were all pleasant.
I really didn’t like the dirty staircase, as soon as you check in you are met with a flight of narrow stairs and they looked like they hadn’t been cleaned for weeks. I dont mind mud and grass from walking boots although I think you could ask people to not walk mud in but this was debris that looked days or weeks old.
Going into our room after two flights of stairs, it was small which I expected, but the bed squeeks, is bouncy and sprung and uncomfortable for two people. The shower and loo were literally in a cupboard, I have long legs so could only just close the door when using the loo, the shower was so poor I don’t bother but my partner did and it dribbled at the handle and was crap. It all needed a massive upgrade. The curtains were thin and cheap and badly fitted so that they did not block out any light. I wouldn’t go back unless I had seen the exact room I would be accommodated in.
