New York City is only two hours away by train or car. The estate is a five minute walk from the gorgeous historical district of Saugerties Village which has numerous restaurants, movie theater, interesting retail shops, playing fields, ice rink, and very close to HITS (for all you horse lovers). TLDR: Schedule permitting, we will happily return to this house next summer.
We were a family of 12 spanning 3 generations, including 6 children under the age of 6. We went with high expectations, but noted some previous reviews re mosquitoes (no worse than any other yard in our experience) and lack of central AC (the window units worked great and the house was perfectly cool the whole time), so better than we expected.
- We've stayed at 4 other VRBO houses including 2 in the Hamptons, and the kitchen here was far and away the best - high-end appliances and every utensil, pot, etc. you could want. Zillions of towels for pool and bath, and so on.
- The pool was great (we didn't need it heated in mid-August).
- The house was immaculate when we we arrived - kudos to the cleaners.
- While in the house, you'd think you were alone in the world, yet the town business district is an easy walk and a lot of fun. Easy drives to nearby Hudson and other towns mean there's no shortage of things to do with kids.
- The owner, Kimberly, was a pleasure to deal with and incredibly responsive to the few questions we had.

This was a wonderful property directly on the Hudson River and right in the town of Saugerties. The property was immense with lots of grass, a lovely pool overlooking the river, a long and winding path down to the river shore, and an historic country house that lived comfortably for the week we were there. Lots of big open rooms (living, dining, bedrooms) and also a private bedrooms wing if you wanted to have a larger group separate from the main house. Kimberly (the property manager) and her husband were immediately attentive and we felt comfortable and welcome from day one. I don't know how often they list the home, but if you have a large family and desire an intimate country setting, this is hard to beat. Highly recommended for familes.

Our daughters were competing at HITS and the location was absolutely perfect! Less than 5 minutes away and even closer to Main Street! The house was immaculate and fully stocked with more than we could have imagined.
The only thing I wish I read in the reviews was that windows did not have curtains/blinds. Our kids go to bed rather early, and the sun was still out, making it very hard to relax at bedtime. But I totally understand not wanting to block the beautiful views! I would have prepared better and brought some blankets or something to drape over!
All in all, we would 100% recommend staying here and would love to do so next year and add some additional days so we can actually enjoy the property more!

This is a very special property. Everything you need or could want is there. The setting and views are unforgettable. The host is attentive and accommodating. She quickly came to our rescue when our previously reserved house canceled three days before our arrival. We would love to return. Thank you!

Truly a remarkable home
This is a unique and gorgeous property. Somehow incredibly elegant and very comfortable all at the same time. I have never seen so many pillows in all my life. We stayed for 5 days over Thanksgiving with 13 family members: adults and 2 teenagers. We had many wonderful meals in the huge dining room, cooked together in the well-equipped kitchen, took walks to the lighthouse, some even ventured down the bank to the river from the house, did crossword puzzles and read some of the many excellent books in the house collection. Kimberly was always in reach if we had questions.
There were some things that we didn't expect (or didn't read carefully enough); things to factor in to your decision.
One issue is that the first floor room that was described as another bedroom is actually the room that the back door opens into, the door that guests are requested to use for coming in and out of the house. And, there are no curtains on the windows. So whoever sleeps there has to deal with no privacy either from the inside or out.
Speaking of curtains, the only curtains in the house are sheer lace. Incredibly beautiful lace, but light comes streaming in (whether you're ready to wake up or not) and some people did feel kind of exposed to the outdoors. Additionally, most of the bathrooms have no curtains at all, not even lace. I get why this decision was made; the house is on a large property not close to any other houses, and the views out the windows are wonderful. You wouldn't want to cover them up. But some of my family members made makeshift curtains with towels in order to feel comfortable showering.
And speaking of showering, although there are 7 bathrooms, there are only 2 showers. This is actually in the listing description, so we were aware before we went and it was fine, we enjoyed the big antique tubs, at one point there was kind of a fight over who got to use the clawfoot tub next, and the bathrooms were impeccably clean. The whole house was perfectly clean actually. I'm allergic to mold and dust and fragrance in laundry detergent, and almost always have a reaction wherever I rent. I did not have a single allergic reaction in this house.
We would all go back again in a heartbeat. Would be really fun to experience summer or fall color here. Highly recommend, and thank you to Kimberly and your family for your hospitality.

Some quick overview of house
The house is beautiful and well stocked,(plenty of towels, dishes and kitchen supplies). The house is really six bedrooms with the seventh bedroom being a living room with pullout bed which is not comfortable and a cot in a downstairs room which has no air conditioning. Many of the bathrooms only have tubs including the master. The grounds are spectacular and very private with spectacular views. The river is a hike which my grandchildren enjoyed. There were also many games in cupboard which my grandchildren enjoyed.

This house was everything I wanted to celebrate my August birthday with several friends. The owners were there when we arrived and showed us around the house and gave local recommendations. Through our long weekend, we sat on the porch and drank coffee, we swam in the pool and went for walks, we cooked elaborate dinners, and then we sat on the porch and drank wine. Its a comfortable and well-equipped property, and the view is beautiful. Two recommendations if you go in the summer: bring mosquito repellent (a lot of it), and watch the doors to the bathrooms, because they swell in the humidity (several people got trapped and had to holler for help). :)

LIVING IN THE "GRAND MANOR" AT - ARROWFIELD -
THE MANOR HOUSE IS FURNISHED WITH "ART-DECO' OBJECTS COLLECTED IN AN ECLECTIC STYLE AND PLACED THROUGHOUT BOTH THE COMMON ROOMS AND THE PRIVATE SPACES. WOODEN FURNITURE IS CARVED IN THE FRENCH RENAISSANCE STYLE WHILE PAINTINGS WITH GILDED FRAMES AND ORIENTAL VASES ABOUND.
THE MANICURED GRASS ACREAGE FLOWS DOWNWARD TOWARD THE HUDSON RIVER, OFFERING DELIGHTFUL VIEWS OF BOATING TRAFFIC AND VARIED BIRD AND ANIMAL LIFE. THE POOL WAS A DRAW FOR ALL THE FAMILY,(AGES 12 TO 83)
AND KITCHEN EASILY SERVED ALL OUR VARIED CULINARY NEEDS. DINING IN THE FORMAL DINING ROOM BROUGHT US BACK TO AN EARLIER ERA REMINISCENT OF A FRENCH DRAWING ROOM. ALL THAT WAS MISSING WAS A STRING QUARTET PLAYING UNOBTRUSIVELY IN A CORNER.
DURING THE DAY WE RESTED, PLAYED GAMES AND HAD GREAT CONVERSATIONS IN THE PEACEFULNESS AND BEAUTY OF THE GIGANTIC PORCH THAT RAN THE LENGTH OF THE HOUSE SITTING AND SHARING COMFORTABLE CHAIRS W/ CHAISE RED CUSHIONS. BEWARE OF THE INSECTS THAT ATTACK AND BITE IF YOU WISH TO DINE OR HAVE DRINKS ON THE PORCH IN THE EARLY EVENING - THE INSECTS WERE BEASTLY AND UNFORGIVING DESPITE OUR USE OF REPELLENTS. MUST WEAR CLOTHING AND COVER THE EXPOSED SKIN WITH LIBERAL USE OF BUG REPELLENT. OTHER THAN THIS UNPLEASANTNESS, WE (ALL 8 ADULTS AND SIX CHILDREN), ALL SLEPT WELL IN 7 PRIVATE BEDROOMS, ALL WITH BATHROOMS, SOME WITH BATHTUBS OR SHOWERS. OVERALL, IT FELT LIKE A TIME WARP BACK TO THE EARLY 1900'S AND MY WIFE AND FAMILY THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THE FULL EXPERIENCE.

Spacious & beautiful, fun for both kids and adults
I came across this property and immediately knew it would be perfect for my family's vacation. The spacious house and outdoor area was perfect for bbq and everyone really enjoyed the pool. The house is very well kept and had all updated amenities. I loved that the property faces the Hudson River as it was quite pleasant waking up to every morning. The owner of the house made things incredibly easy by leaving simple house instructions & restaurant/ grocery recommendations. The property was so serene and was such a great place to kick back and relax for the week. I certainly hope to come back and visit again soon.

A Beautiful Getaway!
The house is gorgeous and well kept and clean. My family loved exploring the green grounds and playing and fishing in the Hudson. Kim is a very professional and thorough owner who seemed to really want us to enjoy our stay. She was very responsive to all my calls and emails and the terms were very clear and the deposit requirements are very reasonable especially considering the uniqueness of the property.
Also, the village of Saugerties is so close! Highly recommended for small to medium families or groups who are looking for a relaxing and sophisticated escape. Thanks, Kim! Can't wait to come back next summer.

Welcoming and Warm!
I've rented many properties over the years but Arrowfield may have been the best! It was a perfect beginning to the 2016 summer season. The house was more than spacious, the property was large enough to tire my children out and my husband spent most of the week fishing. It was a beautiful relaxing retreat and the owner Kim was responsive throughout whenever we had questions about going into town (about a 20 minute drive with many places to eat and ship). She even offered us babysitting services with her sitter if we needed it! Overall I would love to stay here again - only caveat was that it was a little chillier than I had hoped for. Would have loved to spend more time out enjoying all of the land and surrounding areas. Will stay again next summer if available - this place is perfect for large families (we are family of five).

Lovely property in a picturesque setting
We hired Arrowfield estate over a weekend in early September and had a fantastic time. The house is perfectly situated overlooking the Hudson and the decking around the property offers an amazing venue to sit for drinks or dinner. We really enjoyed spending time in the pool too. The house itself is really lovely and we only had some minor issues with the electrics tripping when we overloaded it. The real draw is the garden which is spectacular. The house is also situated walking distance from the town itself which has some great restaurants to sample…Miss Lucy’s was a particular favourite of ours!
We had a family dinner to celebrate a special occasion while we were there and were planning on having it on the lawn but Kimberly suggested using the decking as it's a great location to see the view. I’m so glad she did as it was perfect. After the dinner, I was a little worried about potential scratches on the decking but Kimberly was really reasonable about it and we received our full deposit back.
It’s an amazing venue for a family gathering…everyone who stayed said how spectacular it was and that they couldn’t have imagined a more perfect setting.

GRACIOUS HOSPITALITY
Our family returned to Arrowfield for an Autumn Retreat and we could not have had a better experience. The owner supplied us with references of the best local activities and was spot on with her recommendations. This property is uniquely situated within easy driving distance of Woodstock, Hudson, Great Barrington, Rhinebeck, Kingston and of course Saugerties. While we took advantage of the regions great attractions we cherished our time at Arrowfield. The owner assisted us in finding the perfect support team for our larger family function that was held on the grounds without a hitch despite a brief shower.
We look forward to visiting again this year.

an amazing stay!
Simply a beautiful and absolutely wonderful place to stay. I stayed at Arrowfield for a week this summer with my husband and two children. I wish I had stayed all summer! Of course, whenever you are renting a new property you do not know what to expect. However, I was so pleased with the property from the moment we got there. The beauty of the home is just amazing and the atmosphere is so comforting it makes you feel right at home. The owner is so gracious giving guests access to her world of beauty and she goes above and beyond to make sure her guests feel welcome and have an amazing stay. She provides you with a list for local shopping and really great restaurants, which I would also recommend to anyone in the area. I just want to thank Kim for the most amazing week. This was truly the perfect place for my family to enjoy time together and relax. The area is wonderful, the property is beautiful and the home is more than I could have imagined. I HIGHLY encourage anyone to stay here even just for one night. I promise you will not regret it. I am so happy we chose Arrowfield and even after just the first night, my husband and I were already thinking about returning for next summer. We miss it already!! Thank you, we had the BEST time!

SUBLIME RETREAT
I have been looking at this coming seasons rental oppurtunity for my family and none have come close to meeting my families expectations than Arrowfield. We stayed for a long Autumn weekend and the owner graciously kept the Pool open for our enjoyment. She could not have been more gracious , from providing guidance to local shops , restaurants and attractions to full access to her home. We opted for the maid service which left us free to enjoy the pressed linens , sumptious towels and carefree dinners on the grand porch and romantic dining room. Both with unparalled views of the majestic Hudson. The property is feng shui heaven with the river before you and the grand Catskills anchoring the Western sky .
Between the extensive library , comfortable furnishings and the local Partition Street Wine store we ll found commplete relaxation at this serene retreat . We were amazed that we could stroll to the village or to the many parks but once we entered the main gate ,the rest of the world disarreared ,save for the occasional Amtrack passing on the opposite shore and the sailboats and ships that flow along the river.
We were captivated by the wildlife including wild turkey , bald eagles and hawks , deer and fox , all contributing to this poetic place.
We will be returning to Arrowfield this summer.

Arrowfield - true old world elegance --
Our stay at Arrowfield was wonderful beyond words. I hesitate to write a review for fear it won't be available when we want to stay again, but it was such a special place that it would be too selfish of me not to share our experience. Kim the owner told us that she believes Arrowfield should be shared which is one very good reason for renting it and I completely agree. There are very few places out there that can provide the comforts, peace and tranquility that Arrowfield can. From the moment we stepped on the porch, the view took our breath away! We knew we had found the perfect place to celebrate a milestone event taking place in our family, and we had searched for so long to find it. We truly loved each moment we spent there. The house was simply beautiful and elegant yet so comfortable and homey at the same time. The sweeping lawn and river view cannot be duplicated. The pool had an extended shallow end that made it wonderful for a water volleyball game and the majestic trees, wildlife and river view made us want to sit for hours on end. Everything is perfectly set up for a large gathering and Kim was very generous to let us use many serving platters etc. and anything we needed in the kitchen. The linens were wonderful and everything was completely ready for us. This home is spotless and well cared for. Kim was a pleasure to deal with, returned our security deposit promptly and thanked us for taking care of and respecting Arrowfield during our stay. Our family loved Arrowfield so very much. We think of it often and envision the beauty of what it must be like in the fall and winter as well. Once you've stayed there the memory of it never leaves you. We can't wait to return. I would recommend Arrowfield whole-heartedly to everyone who loves and values beauty, privacy and elegance and comfort.

Fantastic Weekend
My family and I recently stayed at Arrowfield and had a wonderful experience. The property is beautiful and very peaceful. I loved the décor and the view of the Hudson River is fantastic! We enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing weekend, feeling like we had our very own private estate to retreat to. Kim, the owner, made sure that this special family get together went as smoothly as possible and was very prompt in responding to any questions we had – she even left her personal cell phone number at the house in case we had any questions during our stay. Our weekend was perfect and my family and I look forward to making Arrowfield our special destination in the future.

what a great retreat!!!
loved every minute of my stay.... every detail of the house made it feel like a home away from home.
would recommend this to anyone who needs a break and would like to get away.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE FABULOUS TIME! I hope to be back soon.

Expect to Loose $$$
The estate is lovely but Kim, the owner, is less than honest. She kept thousands of dollars from our security deposit for things we know we did not damage. We are in contact with a few other past renters who have had the same problem. If you really want to rent this property, just be prepared to loose more money than expected and to have a tough time dealing with her.
