'The Hut' is situated half way between Oberon and O'Connell and just 33 klms from Bathurst and set high on a hill to take in the spectacular views. It is just around the corner from Mayfield Gardens which has a café and beautiful grounds to explore. Slightly further afield of a few klms is the famous Jenolan Caves and Kanangra Walls National Park, Ben Chifley Dam, Vineyards, Oberon Dam ( great fishing), Oberon Golf Course,The Fish River and many scenic picnic spots and the State Forest great for dirt bike riding , mushrooming and walks. We are amidst lots of great Pubs and Cafes, the closest being 5 minutes away . It is a fully self contained 2 bedroom house on 2 acres with panoramic views back to the O'Connell valley and beyond to Bathurst . The 'Hut" itself is recently renovated with all modern features The 'Hut' comprises of 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with 2 single beds, (all linen supplied), a lounge with a slow combustion fire and the dining area off the kitchen. All rooms have a view of the stunning countryside. The kitchen is fully equipped including the necessities of tea and coffee, milk pepper and salt etc. The bathroom has a shower and toilet with towels supplied. There is also a BBQ for your convenience . There is a TV / DVD, stereo, magazines , games all for you to enjoy. Just relax and enjoy TheHut' is ready for you to relax and enjoy and just chill out in the country atmosphere while absorbing the beautiful views. Enjoy the abundance of wildlife, kangaroos, wombats, echidnas, birds and the local farm animals.Or just be dazzled by the wonderful display of stars at night .

Located a short distance out of Oberon but still close enough to go into town for dinner the house as excellent, great view, sitting on the verandah in the morning sun for breakfast, fantastic.
We were tracing family history in the area and if we want to do more we would look to book here again.

It was our first stay at "The Hut". We will definitely be back again. We were pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail shown by our host. We had everything needed plus many more. Just to name a few: fresh cut flowers, free range eggs, boscuits, cooking oil. The accomodation is clean and the view is superb!

This property is in a good location with great views. The cottage is clean and comfortable with everything we needed including a cosy pot-bellied fire. Fresh eggs, fresh flowers. Friendly welcome by host. Great surrounding area to explore. Highly recommended.

A very comfortable relaxing stay with amazing views and countless stars during the night. Small personal touches like fresh flowers and fresh eggs added to the stay. A warming fire place for cooler nights was definitely a highlight as well. "The Hut" is a place we could recommend undoubtedly and will definitely return to.

The only problem with this place is that we only got to stay one night. Snug as a bug in a rug with the beautiful wood fire, welcomed by Tony and helpful communication with Helen. This really is a special place we hope to return to one day.

Our stay at The Hut was absolutely wonderful. The view was breathtaking and Helen was lovely. I highly recommend this.

Unfortunately, due to Covid my partner and I were unable to stay at the property. Helen the host was amazing and allowed our adult children, with their partners, to take our place. She was also very flexible and offered us a rescheduled booking.
The kids had a great time and was very comfortable at Helen’s place.

"The Hut" is a great little cottage if you want somewhere to unwind. As soon as you walk in the door, you feel like you're home. Helen has thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable.
There is an incredible view down the valley towards Bathurst, which looked beautiful in the morning. We assume it would also give spectacular sunsets but we never managed to get our timing right.
We wish we were there for more than 2 nights so we could experience more.

Such a wonderful place to stay, relaxing, peaceful and wonderful views. Loved the birdlife and the chatty kookaburra in the late evenings and early mornings. It was like they were talking about their day in the evenings and discussing what or where they were going in the morning. The other birds on the lawns during the day. The cattle and calves were around with the newly born calves having fun running around. Rooes and rabbits around. The seat by the small dam was a great get away to sit amongst the trees and just chill. Used "The Hut" as a base tovexplore the area. Fantastic hosts in Helen and Tony. Highly recommended. Will be back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Hut, Oberon. Ideal location close to Mayfield Gardens and Bathurst with amazing vistas. The Hut was spotlessly clean and well appointed with games and activities for those rainy days. Plenty of wood supplied for the fire made a very cosy stay. We'll be back once La Nina moves on. Booked for overnight stay to attend wedding in Oberon. Only spent a short time there but it was lovely and warm and very clean. Owner had wood fire stoked up when we arrived and came and introduced himself..loverly stay. Thankyou Helen and Tony.

Helen was very welcoming when we arrived for our two night stay. The Hut itself was very spacious and had a delightful outlook and we enjoyed watching the birdlife. It was spotless, very comfortable, particularly the bed and had everything we needed for a self-catered stay. The weather turned on us and so we were very pleased to have the slow combustion fire place. It is ideally situated for a visit to Mayfield Gardens, about 5 kms away.
