About this apartment rental
"Stingrays" Duplex Units, are situated at Orchid Beach, Fraser Island (right at the top) near Waddy Point. You need a 4WD to access Fraser Island.
2 Units, each sleep 8. Beds can be reconfigured or have 8 singles. Rent 1 or 2. Fire pit and fish cleaning facilities. Excellent for boats with a large front yard and circular driveway. Volley ball court, plenty of solar power with auto start generator. Large fridge/freezer, tucker box freezer. Barbie and gas supplied. Pillows doonas supplied. Must bring own sheets or can call to hire.
Bring your food, drinks and consumables, eg. alfoil, glad wrap, toilet paper, garbage bags, soap, dishwashing, clothes detergent , sheets, towels. etc. As it is costly at the shop (because it is remote).
This area is very picturesque with Champagne Pools, Indian Head, Waddy Point and freshwater lakes in small proximity. Things to do, fishing, nature walks, beach activities or 4Wheel Driving.
Take the barge at either Rainbow Beach (Inskip Point), which puts you straight onto the 75 mile beach where you pass small townships, Eurong and Happy Valley, tourist spots like the Maheno and Champagne Pools to Orchid Beach turnoff.
You can access the barge on the other side of the Island at Harvey Bay. This would include a lot of inland driving to get to the 75 mile beach on the other side. You could take this opportunity to see some of the tourist spots, eg. Lake McKenzie and others while you are on that side of the island.
It's a good idea to check times as it is a lot easier to drive up the beach on low tide.
Orchid Beach offers a remote 4WD holiday, with beaches and world heritage national parks. There are inland tracks to Watumba Creek or take a drive through Nagala Rocks to the cape and visit the lighthouse (the furtherest point on Fraser Island).
Bring plenty of supplies. There is one shop (with bare essentials), petrol station and pub as this is a remote location.

Good location, particularly for north of the island. Clean, good size for seven of us. Kids liked the pool table and darts. Great shower. Simple but with all the facilities you need for a reasonable price.

Property location and facilities are great however it definitely needs some TLC. Front fly screen was broken, fixed it ourselves for our stay and the general cleanliness of the property was not that great (insects, cobwebs, mould, etc). I understand it's a remote area but there are better options out there.

Great place for five fishermen, plenty of room inside and plenty of lawn area. Loved the Fire Pit, Fish Cleaning area and the Rosemary Plant in the boat.

Take your own kitchen ware as very old at the property & could be cleaner in general.

Fishermans friend
This small home was a great place to come home to after a big day exploring the island. Had the conveniences needed to relax and recharge.
The unit was missing dvd player and remote to operate external HD devices, I managed to get hold of the other units dvd player minus a remote.
Some of the fly screens did have holes that I taped up as there were a fair amount of bugs and webs in the units ceilings and corners.
I would recommend this unit to fishermen that want a place to crash, drink ,bbq and socialize, not so much for a family with higher expectations. The water pump went out temporarily and smoke alarms went off once at 2am. The place does need some attention, I mentioned to the manager and he said he would look into some of the issues Cleaning and some dish liquid.
In saying that if you can be ok with those minor issues the place is a great blast off point for Wathumba, the cape and Waddy point.

One of the best holidays in years
Great spot to stay, we will definitely be back next year to stay at stingrays. From start to finish Stephen was fantastic, nothing was a problem. To get a phone call first up on our arrival day to say the house is ready go for it was a great start. The house had everything we needed and was perfectly clean on arrival. The size of the yard and being fully fenced was a huge tick for the young ones. Will definitely recommend this place to others. Thanks for letting us stay

5 Night Fishing trip
Had all that we required. Owner easy to communicate with if required. Everything worked and fridge is a good size, with the addition of a chest freezer for baits, fish, ice etc chest freezer. Good sized BBQ and then a shared fire pit at the back. Only one other unit next to you.

A pleasant experience
Steve made our stay really easy. The property is just as you’d expect, nothing special but the perfect base for an island getaway. We had a few mechanical issues with a trailer and Steve went out of his way to pick up the parts off the mainland for us. Really appreciated and would definitely stay again.

Nice quiet place to relax at the end of the day
My family and I have always camped on Fraser. It was great to be able to come back to Stingrays accommodation and have all the luxury of home. It definately made it easier for me and my partner to enjoy our week holiday having power, hot showers and the use of the facilities along with a full self contained kitchen. We did not have to bring much at all. The owners were great to deal with and shared their knowledge of the island before we headed up.

Family Friendly
Fully fenced for the dingo-conscious! Obliging owner; nice hot water (but see below); good kitchen with gas appliances; good satellite TV; large block with plenty of outdoor space/entertaining area. Fridge not so good - took 2 days to freeze water iceblocks, and our milk was going off, changing thermostat = no difference; and the hot water in the shower would cycle on/off with the pump, often not triggering the constant gas heating, so it had to be set at near maximum, which wastes water - may benefit from a pressure tank; very difficult to locate property if arriving at night.

Good accommodation after a day at the beach
Everything you need at the end of a full day spent fishing, swimming at the beach or exploring the island. Self contained facilities, hot showers and plenty of space. The owners were super helpful and contactable, even navigating for us on arrival.
