It was well located and the room was very clean and comfortable.
Unfortunately the lovely bathroom had an unpleasant odour coming from the drains. This kind of spoiled the experience a bit.

I loved this historic residence. I stayed 3 nights in The Grande Apartment and it was delightful and as I expected it to be. Though on entering I was surprised that the sitting room shared a space with the bedroom. In this room is a gas operated fire surrounded by a marble fireplace. At night it is cosy in the sitting room with the gas fire lit. Netflix and SBS were both a bonus to watch on the Smart TV. In a separate room, I loved the small round marble top dining table. In the afternoon, sunlight bathed this area on a cool wintry day. it was not just a spot to eat, but a place to set up the laptop and work from. The wifi connection was strong. Down the narrow hall one then walked into the country style kitchen. It was a joy to cook in as had a double Fisher and Paykel cooktop and oven. As the Grande accommodates just 2 persons, there was ample cookware, utensils, crockery and glassware. I guess the only 2 things I found to be missing were a cutting board and a wooden spoon. I also loved the modern bathroom again tastefully done to compliment the apartment. The walk in shower was great in that the water pressure was so good and the water hot. Most of all I loved that the French doors in the kitchen opened onto the large garden and in the morning I could sit outside and enjoy my coffee. And what was not to like about the many windows that ran down all one side of the apartment letting in natural light
At night the bedroom was lit up. Because the Grande Apartment is at the front of the property the lights that shine on Annesley House and the garden area also light up the large bedroom / sitting area. There are blinds and sheer curtains in that front room, but they do not at all block out any light. If like me your preference is to sleep in a completely dark room, then invest in an eye mask.

Breakfast N/A. Location very good. Easy to access, quiet & secluded, yet close to facilities.
Beautifully furnished and perfectly clean and prepared. Host reassuringly in contact and clearly attentive to our needs.
Air conditioning/heating inadequate. Not strong enough in living room given height of ceilings/size of room.
Towels poor quality - need to be upgraded. Did not match overall high standard of place.

Great central location in Portland, close to everything. Nice and quiet too. A very comfortable stay in a lovely piece of history.

The majestic home is a truly stunning place to stay, full of historic character and charm. The rooms are grand, spacious, and excellently furnished to create a complete immersion in the feeling of older times. The location makes walking around the township, or along the harbourside easy. The gardens and lawns add a relaxed and pleasant setting to avoid the worlds pressures.

The whole experience was wonderful. The unit was huge and very comfortable. We felt like we were stepping back in time, but with all of the luxuries of today.

We enjoyed staying in the spacious and elegant Grande Room, and appreciated having a separate dining and kitchen area, and direct access to the garden.
There is only airconditioning in the dining area, not the main room, but the apartment was a comfortable temperature on a hot day.

great aesthetic and location; being so close to town
poor water pressure and creaky bed. on top of this the room was badly ventilated with only one or two working windows

What a truly beautiful residence! The recent makeover brings a cross between clean and modern vs character. Words cannot describe how beautiful this place is!

A wonderfully well set up spacious and stylish property with real sense of history. Exceptionally clean and well maintained. Good to have someone on site at least some of the time.
Nothing really to improve. A loaf of bread and some butter would have been ideal but not expected.

Location was excellent. Room was the perfect mix of heritage and contemporary. Room was extremely clean. Safe and secure entrances and with parking available at the rear although limited spaces.

The combination of great restoration with more modern comfort features was really great.
the main bedroom was huge and airy.
Well equipped and nice size kitchen, with cold water in full size fridge, milk and oats, coffee, tea...
the side reading room overlooking the garden was gorgeous - if you needed time out to reflect that was the spot!
alternatively a large bathtub with windows around and view to tree tops!
Would have stay much longer if we knew that host was able to offer us a pick up/drop off to the Great South West Walking Track.

Great location and close to most activities. Very comfortable bed with all the cooking facilities you would like. Many restaurants nearby.
Average work man ship on renovations which could have made this 5 star with better quality.
