Casona El Resguardo's combination of comfort and elegance was VERY impressive, especially considering its remote (and gorgeous) location.

Descent food, comfortable bed, friendly staff
Their pets approached me frequently, and I am allergic to cats. They would not accept Credit Cards or PayPal, except if I paid the transaction fee. I asked if I could do some laundry, and Augustine said, "No, I'll do it for you." He did not say that he would charge for two loads of laundry, but after I checked out, he then messaged me on Whatsapp asking for $40 USD for the two loads of Laundry. Similarly, the food that was served, yes tasty and satisfying, they never shared what the cost was. To my surprise, at checkout, the delivered a bill for the food that was double the price that I had expected. I really do not like it when a proprietor does not practice full disclosure and blames me for not asking. Everywhere else I go, including the Ritz Carleton, discloses prices upfront and takes care of everything at checkout. Asking for an exorbitant fee after checkout, is just not right.

Cozy colonial-type house with lots of dogs and cats, fruit trees and activities to enjoy your time there. The breakfast and dinner are really good!
It was unclear whether the dinner was included or not… it was a little expensive, but it was worth it!

What truly made the experience stand out was the warm and welcoming nature of the owners. They went above and beyond to ensure we felt right at home. The house itself was a marvel surrounded by beautiful nature – each corner adorned with unique and beautiful decorations that added an extra layer of charm to the stay. The breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all freshly made with local products and delicious. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for an unforgettable and delightful getaway.

A very personal touch from A to Z. You actually step back into time and reside in an old house with lots of history. The host speaks perfect English and makes you feel super welcome. We also had an excellent dinner there which was made by the hosts sister who used local products made on their own farm. We want to return in a small group and reserve all 3 rooms and enjoy the place again. Fabulous hiking just on his doorstep with no other tourists in sight. If you want something off the beaten path, you got it!!

Super location, great views. The family were friendly, helpful and we had a fantastic dinner with most things grown in their garden.
Very quiet and great for getting away from it all.

Wonderful restored home in the Andes, extremely comfortable, relaxing with all needed amenities. The chef, Soledad, prepared delicious meals ( we enjoyed 2 dinners, 2 breakfasts and 1 lunch). An overall outstanding experience. Family run, warm , friendly and professional. highly recommended

Little family hotel in a beautiful original building, which the owners have renovated little by little and have further expansion plans, with a gourmet restaurant. We really enjoyed the dinner and breakfast, simple but tasty, with fresh vegetables from their huge garden and home made produces, and the many details to make the stay comfortable (pool towels provided, etc.). It was also super special to relax & sip some local wine by the "pool", a little natural pond with fresh mountain water. The hotel is a little off the beaten track and we stayed only one night during our tour, but can be a good base for hikes or walks, and/or a perfect stop on the road to Argentina (Puente del Inca & Mendoza). We warmly recommend what could be called a cross between a farm/eco stay with a countryside boutique hotel (or create a new category ;)...) and wish all the best to our hosts.
Nothing.

The property was charming! Comfortable, quiet, and a true delight. The rooms were clean, comfortable beds, and plenty of hot water. We had dinners in and the food was fantastic! Our host, Augustine, could not be more accommodating to our every needs . His Pisco sour‘s are the best! :-)

From the outside it looks like nothing, but wait until you walk into the courtyard of this beautiful 100 year old home. Wow!!! It was purchased by their Great Great Grandparent's years ago and still run by the family. The home is filled with their Great Great Grandmother's treasures. It is a very relaxing, comfortable home. We arrived in time to spend our afternoon relaxing in the court yard. The owners, Carlos (i believe) and his sister run the hotel now. Carlos makes delicious Pisco Sours. His sister is the chef. They have an organic garden where they pick the salad and vegs from. A must is their dinner. It was a beautiful evening so we sat outside in the terrace area and enjoy our delicious dinner. I wish we could have stayed longer.
There was nothing we did not like.

Breakfast is included in the stay. We had scrambled eggs from the farm, freshly made juice and coffee, homemade bread and yoghurt. The host also offered to schedule the breakfast serving time according to our schedule!
The host offered dinner service at a reasonable price. Our dinner came with 3 courses and wines. The food was appetizing and delicious that are on par with restaurants in Santiago and much better than what you can get in Los Andes.
The host is very nice and I would recommend this place to my friends for sure!

All I can say is wow. Agustin’s place is not only the cleanest bed and breakfast place I’ve stayed in a long time, but when you book this place, you get the entire experience.
The house:
Located in an alley about 500 meters away from the road facing the beautiful mountains. So you don’t get the noise of the cars passing by and have great privacy.
The house is over 100 years old and it looks like a beautiful museum. It was actually passed down from his great great grandmother and there are many artifacts in the house that are over 100 years old. The thing about the house though is that it doesn’t smell old and rusty, it smells clean, no odors of dampened furniture or old grandmother things. The bathroom was cleaner than a 4-5 star hotel bathroom. The bed and the mattress was so comfortable, cozy and modern looking. The furniture and design of the house are superb. It gives off a very comfortable, cozy, and vintage vibe. I could tell that they have put their entire heart into designing this and they’re super proud of it.
The food:
OMG I cannot get over the food. Please please eat dinner here. Augustin’s sister is an amazing chef. The food we had was incredibly delicious.
She made for us:
Zucchini soup - mixed with some type of cheese and paired with amazing home made bread
Lasagna - I usually don’t like lasagna but man this was probably the only lasagna I’d eat over and over again. She added shredded beef to it and topped with a local Chilean cheese
Coco flan - I can’t even tell you how shockingly good this dish was. It was rich, and not too sweet to the point where you can actually taste the coco aroma.
We finished with some type of wheatgrass tea that was sooo nice and warm
This place is the perfect place to disconnect from the business of the world and just come and relax. There is a hiking trail right at your doorstep, and best part: they have horses and can take you on a horseback ride throughout the Andean mountains for hours.

Everything was way over my expectations. The food was amazing, I insist...AMAZING.
The air, the location, being close to the mountains and being able to just go trekking for a while around the corner, the animals, the wilderness. Just amazing
if you really want to disconnect from everything and feel your surroundings this is it
I don't think of anything to be honest

We were traveling from Santiago to Mendoza and needed a place to stay along the route. We loved the Chilean & family history of this former Customs House. Our hosts, Sol & Augustin, were warm & welcoming. The property, while more than 200 years old, has been in their family for 100 years. They have an attachment to the land & home and it shows. We loved the proximity to wineries, the pool fed by natural spring & river water, the superior service, and the privacy & safety - we slept with our windows open. Dinner (outside under the arbor) and breakfast (n the dining room)) were both plentiful and delicious. The hosts, staff, and on-site pets all made us feel like part of the family. We hope to return to Chile to visit local wineries and to stay at El Resguardo again!
