The stay was amazing! Very friendly house owner and exellent breakfast :) Ideal position far from the noisy city center but still in proximity of the beach. Very recommended to those that want local experiences!

It was a nice homestay a bit more up hill surrounded by greenery and a lovely view. The host manori was so friendly and kind! There was something with the airco, but she managed it right away! They also arrange a tuktuk and taxi for you if you need to go somewhere.
There was not much water pressure at the sink, but they said they will fix it. No further complaints!

I spend 6 nights at Arazo villa in December 2023. Since the first moment it really felt like home, being situated just about 10 minutes walk from the Unawatuna beach yet still very quiet and in the middle of jungle. It is a beautiful clean villa owned by amazing and caring Sri lankan lady who was trully like a mum to me. She is a great cook, will prepare huge delicious breakfasts, lunch, dinner, whatever you need. Her son helps her with everything so the communication was very smooth and easybefore my arrival too, I even came 1 day in advance and it was not a problem. You will love local dogs Tutu and Jimmy who was like my security. It was trully local experience which is hard to find in busy touristy Unawatuna. Doing business there is not easy for locals, so if you can, come to stay at Arazo villa, you will be rewarded by fair price, warm welcome, friendly atmosphere created by like minded people, great food and warm smiles. From practical side, the wifi and hot water are there with occasional blackouts which is typical for this location, the rooms are basic but totally sufficient for the cost of it. Supermarket, restaurant, beach with sunbeds and bus stop are just about 10mins walk away. The hill is there but nothing too big, you can always use tuktuk if you are too tired to walk up there, but if you are not disabled this will nto be an issue. Last but not least they provide taxi services and they gave me a ride for tuktuk price so it is really worth booking with them. Saying goodbye was not easy and I will miss this place greatly!
The rooms are clean and basic, however could use a bit of touch up, e.g. toilet paper holder was broken, the carpets have seen better days and could be replaced by new ones, my matrace was very soft and it would be nice to have a proper sheet to cover up instead of the blanket that was there, maybe some more decorations to make the room look a bit more welcoming, however neither of theese bothered me at all and you can take it just as small suggestions on improvements for future. I still think it was definitely worth the price. Beware if you come at the weekend, once a month there is a big party at Unawatuna beach until morning hours, so all Unawatuna is awake that night due to the noise, but this is not the fault of accomodation and if coming to Unawatuna you should expect that this is party, vibrant and touristy place and there is some music happening at the beach every evening.

The view was nice.
Not comfortable at all. Small bed (1.90m) and no bedsheets to lay under. let's call it a " tablecloth" which was so small that it didn't cover my husband's body. 1 small pillow per person.
No extras in the room. No water no coffee tea no shower el, just one small toiletroll, no extra.
The room has potential to be nice but feels cold without any decoration and the bathroom misses something to cover the windows because neighbors can see you standing from their balcony.
Breakfast was very minimal, the first day we were sick so we didn't want anything but bread but the second day it appeared to be not a lot more than we had before.
Location: not so good to be near all the shops and restaurants. And the hill is serious, but tuktuks can take you up easily.
Owner:
She was open and kind like everyone in Sri Lanka but when her dog ate the havainas of my husband sorry seemed not a thing in her vocabulary and she laughed about it and said: yes he does that sometimes.
I would suggest you tell people to take their shoes in because those flipflops were not that expensive but still...
When asking for a discount on the bill she did not propose anything, so we decided ourselves a 2000 rp discount to buy some new flipflops.
Anyway! All together, it was not a good experience.
When we left after two nights we stayed somewhere else on the shopping street at Unawatuna for just a few euros more but it was really worth it.
Value for price not okay, should be cheaper for what you get.

Clean, spacious room & bathroom. Really nice garden. Lovely host. Breakfast was simple but tasty. Location is good, but you have to walk up a steep hill. Because it’s a bit away from the street it was very quiet at night. Great views from the balcony.

This was a lovely homestay with very welcoming hosts. The room was very clean and the we had our own balcony to enjoy views of the beach. The shower had hot water also which is a plus. We opted to have dinner at this property and the food was delicious, cooked by the host.
The mosquito net had many holes in it, so we got bitten despite using bug repellent.
We stayed on a Saturday and unfortunately there is a party on the beach then, which lasts until 6am and we couldn’t sleep with the noise. This is not the fault of the host.

The two dogs were also super cute!
Would definitly recommend!

The stay at Arazo Villa was just perfect! The room was very nice: Clean, big and provided everything you need. The view from the balcony is great and you have the nice sound of birds waking up. The beach is within walking distance (just be aware it is a very steep street) and you can catch busses to, e.g., Galle and Mirissa.
The owner Manori (and her dog Tutu) are very lovely and friendly. She always made sure that I enjoyed my stay and prepares delicious breakfast and dinner which varies every day. She even let me check in early and prepared me an early breakfast on the last day.
I highly recommend the accomodation!
Nothing, everything was good!
Just as a suggestion for improvement, no criticism: It says on booking that the room I had has an AC, which is not the case (I asked in advance to be sure, so I knew - and you don't really need the AC with windows open). This might be irritating if you do not read the comments.

Manori is one of the most joyful and friendly person we’ve met in the country. She (and Tutu, her equally friendly dog) takes care of this really cool place uphill - good exercise for legs - with a beautiful view of the sea.
The room have more than enough Space for two, is really confortable and Manori’s cooking is highly recommended (breakfast and dinner - she is amazing).
Speaking of which, she also organize a fun and educational cooking class. And if you need transportation, she can help as well. This place and her owner have it all! Miss them so much!

Beautiful location overlooking the ocean. Lovely green garden and big rooms. The owner is very lovely (and funny), she made me feel at home. Would absolutely recommend to stay here if you’re looking for a nice and quite place in Unawatuna 🐟
Nothing!

The villa is immersed in a tropical garden on a hill, next to a Buddhist temple and a stupa. The villa's terrace overlooks the ocean. The descent to the main beach is no more than a 5-minute walk. The quiet surroundings are disturbed by the sound of the surf and birdsong.
Villa's owner Manory is very hospitable and caring - she'll help solve any problems and cooks perfectly, both national dishes and seafood.
There is a very friendly and kind dog on the property.
There are mosquitoes as elsewhere, but the bed is protected by a net.

A wonderful, quiet and charming place on the temple hill. And the most wonderful hostess we‘ve ever met in Sri Lanka … If you read these lines and happen to stay here, please give our warmest and nicest regards to Manori (and Tutu, her lovely dog).

Good choice for budget tourist. Rooms have all you needs. Delicious and hearty breakfasts. Great soulful service. Nice garden with own fruits. Any questions were resolved very promptly. Owners can give you different addition service if yiu need. The nearest central beach is Unawatuna beach which takes 10 min on foot, but hotel situated on the hill (with nice great view) so you need be healthy or have to take tuk-tuk or rent bike. During vacation we've had 3 days tour with grate local guy Gayan +94778697099, Gayan_tour_srilanka/ Instagram
