About this cottage rental
Situated right at Purlingbrook Falls, you're only minutes away from breath-taking lookouts and national park rainforest, Dragonfly cottage is a fully self contained cottage nestled in the rainforest, yet a short walk away from Springbrooks best attractions. The walking trails on your doorstep take you to a magical world through rainforest, from the spectacular lookouts above the falls, to longer trails that run under the falls and down to Warringa pool, a beautiful spot for a swim or picnic.
Of course the cottage is fully equiped with all the usual facilities like an LCD TV, Bluray player and Bluetooth dock as well as a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge, oven, microwave and coffee plunger. There's also books on the area and Australian habitats and wildlife and activities for the kids. You can spend hours relaxing on the huge raised covered deck overlooking Kuralboo creek and it's surrounds, with outdoor heating and a 4 burner gas barbecue. Here you'll most likely meet a number of our local visitors including a family of Kookaburras, lorikeets and rozellas.
Springbrook and its surrounds are truly inspirational. You may like to relax and enjoy the atmosphere, check out the views, indulge at the local cafes, treat yourself to a massage and visit the nearby winery. Perhaps you fancy a walk under the rainforest canopy, past ancient tress, streams and waterfalls and swimming in a pool of clear cool mountain water or seeing the milkyway sparkle in the dark skies of the mountain. Nature lovers will appreciate the myriad of bird and animal life they come accross, including paddymelons, king parrots, crimson rosellas, rainbow lorikeets, kookaburras, water dragons, possums, goannas, blue crays and the occassional black cockatoo. Artists and photographers are drawn to the local arts and crafts scene and make the most of Springbrooks lush landscapes, perfect to photograph, sketch or paint. With little light pollution Springbrook is a great location for star gazing on a clear night. And just down the road there's Springbrook Observatory, that offers night tours on the weekends. Keen cyclist will appreciate some of the best riding that the hinterland has to offer. Whether it's the challenging 8 km climb up Springbrook road, or the quiet country lanes, it's a unique experience.
The cottage is ideal for a couple seeking a quiet intimate getaway with all the facilities you need on your doorstep Park the car when you arrive and you won't need it till you leave! Families seeking a unique nature experience will appreciate the cottage, with lots of activities and adventure for the kids (there's even a skate park a short walk away) and plenty or relaxation for mum and dad. The cottage is also great for Birdwatchers, bush walkers and cyclists.

The cottage is in an amazing location if you enjoy wildlife and has a fabulous natural history library, but be prepare for the reality of living in a rainforest. Its damp and dark and hard to keep clean. We left before half way through our stay because the smell in the bedrooms was too musty for us and we knew more rain was coming. The owners thought the smell may relate to new carpet in bedrooms, but either way, we found it pretty overwhelming.

What a wonderful place to get away to. Beautiful little house in quiet bushland and literally a couple of minutes walk to the Purling falls.
The host is lovely and has the home fully appointed for a wonderful stay. Highly recommended for a peaceful getaway.

Lovely property close to walking tracks & regularly visited by a variety of beautiful birds. Charming frog orchestra in the early evening contributed to a wonderful stay.
The only problem was unexpected heatwave, with Temp much higher than forecast. An effective fan would have been useful.

We enjoyed every aspect of our stay. Not only was the house well equipped it also contained extensive information about the local area. It was also very homely, with a range of books on flora and fauna, games, and DVDs.
The house backs onto rainforest and Purlingbrook walks and picnic areas are accessed across the road.
We would highly recommend a stay at Dragonfly and will no doubt make a return visit.

This was a perfect cottage to stay in, and enjoy a well deserved 3 days away. The location was excellent, 5 minute walk to Purling Brook Falls & 15 minutes drive to the other walk’s & lookouts. The cottage was clean, with a well equipped kitchen & really comfortable bed after the spectacular walks. Perfect place to de-stress! The parrot’s & possum were an added bonus. Would highly recommend this property for those who want a relaxing time away.

My wife and I invited her sister to come with us to celebrate her 80th.
For her it was magic to excape the hustle and bustle of the Gold Coast and enjoy the serenity of your little cottage where we were unaware of any neighbours except for the occasional visits of 3 white cockatoos, 1 King parrot, 3 currawongs and 1 scrub turkey. Very pleasant.

Great location and ambience
Everything about the beautiful Dragon Fly cottage was exactly as described in the listing. We enjoyed the cottage on both sunny and rainy days. A short walk for sunset drinks at any of the 3 lookouts.

Comfortable, well equipped and close to nature.
We loved this well equipped cottage and it’s proximity to nature walks and waterfalls. It truely is a comfortable, private retreat. We couldn’t get the wifi to work but that was the only negative we had. We really enjoyed our stay.

It has great birdlife, very close to the National Park and cafe. Back verandah is the real gem. Take everything you need. Oil, salt and pepper are provided and a welcome basket of tea, coffee and biscuits and sugar. There is no supermarket.

Loved the cockatoos
A comfortable and well located house with a lovely deck and everything we needed for a short stay. So good to walk out the door and be in the national park within 5 minutes. The resident cockatoos are hilarious, and entertained us with their antics each afternoon.

Great location but property needed attention
The location and outdoor veranda was great but the house had a strong musty, mouldy smell. The shower was mouldy and in general the whole place needed a good clean.

We would like to repeat our stay at Dragonfly cottage one day, it was our perfect "mini holiday"

Perfectly located, cute & smelly
Place is located in a perfect spot, house is tidy and just as images. Saw lots of beautiful wildlife and birds from the verandah. Plenty of tea, coffee available, but just a little oil (we brought our own luckily) but no salt, which was a bit of a surprise! The downside is the pugnant smell of mould in the house, brought up all sorts of allergies amongst us. We tried to stay out as much as possible, but something would definitely need to be done to ventilate that lovely place.

wonderful break- very relaxing
The accommodation was just like the pictures shown on the website, even more impressive. Coming from the city to then be surrounded by relaxing woodland, birds and peaceful natural wildlife sounds was amazing, and sooooo relaxing from the moment we arrived.
We were a family of 4 and the children LOVED feeding the birds.
Blinds in the kitchen and bathroom were difficult to recoil back up. Which was a shame as we wanted to look out the windows and enjoy the garden and surrounding area.
Great walks nearby.
Friendly locals.
Can't really fault it- we would definitely return :)

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
We had a terrific stay at the aptly named Dragonfly Cottage. The bed was comfortable and it was nice to have a kitchen, but the absolute highlight is the porch and myriad birds and wildlife that came to visit. Peter was kind enough to leave a little birdseed for us, but we wished we’d brought more because we were having such fun with our feathery friends. The kitchen had plenty of towels and dish scrubbers but we wished we’d brought napkins or paper towels, and unfortunately that type of thing wasn’t available for purchase at the local restaurants. The only other thing we were missing was olive oil, again not available in Springbrook. But there was plenty of coffee and tea in the morning to get us started on our day and we really wouldn’t change a thing. I only mention the very minor things we didn’t have so if you plan to stay (and cook) you can be better prepared. We absolutely loved being at Dragonfly Cottage and hope to be back. Peter was very helpful and responsive the one time we had an inquiry. Thank you for a great and very memorable stay!

Great spot to explore the Springbrook area, the local cafes, or just relax on the decking.
Dragonfly was perfect for our week long stay in Springbrook. We did plenty of exploring and walking and saw lots of wildlife, with time spent reading and relaxing on the decking when it drizzled beyond. Lots of birds visited the deck, plus plenty more in the general area. We also had a visit by one of the local possums with her youngster and the Land Mullet was at home in the front yard. All the facilities we needed were provided, the bed was comfortable and Dragonfly was very clean. I would certainly stay here again.

Gorgeous location lovely cottage
Fantastic place, lovely, clean and comfortable. The location is handy close to the falls, the lookouts, cafes and still on a very quiet street. The visiting local birds made our day. We will be back! Kids thought it awesome.
