The hotel is absolutely stunning. Very homely but it also had all the amenities and the feeling of a luxury hotel. The food was sensational, we arrived here on day 2 of our trip but it turned out to be the best food we had in a fortnight. Highly recommend the tasting menu...it's a lot of food but it's delicious. Indika is a very talented chef. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating. The views, the pool, the huge luxurious tent...and lots of tortoises! A short tuk tuk from town, it's a winning hotel.

The staff are very friendly and accommodating, the chef will do his best to make sure your requests are met. Joel the manager went above and beyond to help with anything that we needed. Overall a great stay!

The beautiful view over Kandy, the employees - especially to mention Nihal who was extremely friendly and helpfully, and last but not least Indika who cooked us the best fresh curry’s we have had in Sri Lanka. A very good retreat to enjoy after a busy day in crowded and exiting Kandy.

I don’t usually write reviews but for Elephant Stables, I had to!
The property is absolutely beautiful as are the views from the site. It’s incredibly peaceful and just a wonderful place to be. The rooms are clean, nicely decorated, well equipped and the Wi-Fi worked perfectly.
More importantly, the staff are very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast provided was also absolutely wonderful. particularly the potato curry!
We really enjoyed our time here and didn’t want to leave!

We loved everything, especially all the people who work there, the service and food is awesome.
The one and only downside is mosquitoes (we lived in a tented suit), but after our complain they fixed this problem on 90%, and the other is noises at night. dogs are barking all around the mountain where the hotel is. but it is also because of the tent where we lived. i would definitely return there, but i would stay in the main building

sadly we had to leave after checking into our room as it did not meet expectations. I’m not usually the person to complain but this hotel is not worth the money!
I have to say the front of house team were all charming no complaints on that front besides having to search for assistance during check in.
since leaving I haven’t been able to contact anyone from the booking team after trying to get in contact numerous times.
I’d spent 2 weeks travelling around beautiful Sri Lanka and stayed in lots of different hotels and guest houses. I was absolutely shocked when I got to this hotel. we were expecting 5 star accommodation and it most certainly is not!
very run down, dirty, particularly odd style, lacks any atmosphere.

welcoming, calm, spotlessly clean, unbelievable view, friendly and helpful staff with great local knowledge and advice on itinerary and arranging trips. Nihal could not have been more helpful. first class service. thank you
tent was a little noisy with wildlife! I imagine the hotel rooms would not suffer from this.

The staff were friendly and generally helpful.
Food was overpriced and the space was definitely not a five star hotel, so we felt this did place wasn't worth the price we paid.

The hotel staff is really good. They are courteous and respectful. The location is slightly ofbeat but stay is nice
The room doesn't have a reception telephone to connect with.

Very beautiful place and amazing views. The rooms were really nice and comfortable.
They were on very skeletal staff and didn't have the restaurant operational. This might have been due to the covid restrictions. I was slightly baffled that they didn't have a card machine and getting so much cash to pay was challenging

Staff were pleasant
Food was very poor - fish send chips were more fish fingers and stringy French fries served with ketchup (no tartar sauce!!) :(
No AC in the bedroom and no mosquito net meant we head a very poor night's sleep :(
Tent was overpriced. Will not go again

Good location on the hills above Kandy yet close to centre. Place full of history and many nice details. Good breakfast. Accommodating staff - happy to make breakfast early on day of departure. Beautiful location for sunset and sunrise (mosquito repellent needed!)
Room dated in particular the bathroom. Compared to other places in Sri Lanka the value for money was not so good.

We liked the fabulous view of Kandy. The food was excellent and Nihal made wonderful cocktails.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
The room was a little small and we expected a bath but there was only a shower. We were there for 4 nights and would have appreciated being offered the chance to upgrade.
