Location
No bath!
Food could have been better

The double room was well laid out and comfortable. A kettle and Nespresso coffee machine were provided with a small bottle of real milk which was a nice thought. We enjoyed the excellent breakfast and all the staff we spoke to on check-in, at dinner, and for breakfast were very friendly.
There was a tray of goodies in the room (crisps, drinks, nuts etc.) but no indication of whether these were complimentary, or the individual costs. It would have been nice to know!

Great location, great food, really nice rooms with excellent selection in fridge/snackbar.
Surprised breakfast wasn't included since the room price was steep. Little sound insulation into hallway and between rooms.

Tiny double room no chair even £169 no breakfast
That would have been another £30

The food
4.2
The room was excellent, staff generally good.
The restaurant was a major disappointment.
4.2
Room far too hot and no ventilation. No overnight manager on site. No safe fire exit from the room as the window was locked.
4.2
The room was amazing; really large, well decorated and the bed was super comfy. Fab bathroom with plenty of towels, hot water and toiletries, very clean
Lovely staff
4.2
The room is clean with a comfortable bed and the bathroom is well designed. The bar is warm and friendly with plenty of seating and an cosy open fire. The restaurant is bright and airy with food of a higher standard than you would expect.
The bedroom was uncomfortably hot and it wasn’t even a very warm night. Despite turning the radiator off and putting the fan on this did not adequately reduce the temperature. It is not possible to open the window more than a couple of inches as for safety reasons it’s been limited. Poor soundproofing means you couldn’t go to sleep before closing time.

lovely room and excellent food

Friendly staff
No chest of draws in bedroom but instead there’s a stack of old suitcases where one could go. (We therefore had to leave majority of clothes in our suitcases) One bedside light not working properly so unable to read, not the bulb. No complimentary biscuits!! ? an over enthusiasm on the trying to sell ‘extras’ not just from the minibar’s fridge but also wine, crisps, peanuts etc etc squeezed on the small shelf provided for tea and the Coffee machine (which gave up accepting the coffee pods). Smaller lampshades would allow for a taller bedside table. Remove the Buddha head and there would be room to put suitcases. Overall a lot of style has been crammed into a room which has been at the cost of practicality, the small table taken up with a large Dyson fan and huge lamp for example. The other room we booked couldn’t put the radiator on as it was covered. (My son didn’t want to make a fuss so didn’t mention at the time, I’m sure it would have been dealt with otherwise) main meal was poor ie the large amount of ham was dry as was the bread supplied. Cutlery had a ‘smell’ and finger smudge marks this was repeated at breakfast. Maybe double glazing would help with traffic noise through the night and less slamming of doors after 11pm.

A beautiful location with easy access to the South Downs, cosy (and dog friendly!) rooms, delicious food and friendly staff. We were particularly impressed that prices hadn’t been inflated on NYE - it was the regular menu at the regular price.
Nothing - we had a fantastic stay over New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
4.2
room as lovely and really well equipped - bed super comfy
breakfast was a bit odd. really old fashioned and very slow. coffee appalling!
4.2
Nothing special
Terrible location as Ditchling has been ruined by traffic. Traffic noise from 6.30 a.m. till 12pm - like being in the middle of a motorway, plus noise from the bar till late. Not peaceful or rural as expected.
4.2
The decor was great
There was an extensive minibar including space masks which meant no freebie biscuits for that price! The room was incredibly hot despite being October, due to the location opening the window meant it was incredibly noisy, the other option was an extremely noisy dyson airflow fan.

it was good

Loved the decor of the room. Service was friendly but also professional.
Almost perfect but would have preferred a blind or shutters for the bathroom window.

Friendly staff, very welcoming and helpful.Special mention for Philomena.
If staying more than a couple of days the menu is a bit limited unless you like the same thing more than once. More importantly there is no mobile phone connection and the Hotels wifi offering requires disclosure of too much personal data

The food and the friendly staff
My Room was above a very busy bar so difficult to sleep until the bar closed

nothing, all good.

The loans room was great
The food was disappointing and the WiFi was a let down
4.2
The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. The room was clean, comfy bed and nice bathroom. Easy parking and never disturbed by noises from the pub.
4.2
Staff v helpful and friendly.
Lovely bathroom and room amenities.
It was expensive! Breakfast was extra and all tea/coffee at breakfast extra. Our room was on the hight st making it noisy....even at night.
4.2
Friendly staff and comfortable, quirkily decorated rooms
Rather expensive-would have been better value if breakfast had been included. As the room was very compact, it was even more unnecessary than usual to have cushions on the bed as there was nowhere to put them.
