About this house rental
3 Bedrooms inside the home, then 10 twin beds inside a classic tour bus right outside the front door. Huge backyard with fire pit, grill, picnic tables, and covered side patio. Kitchen with everything you need to cook a great home cooked meal. Not to mention you can scooter right into the heart of downtown within minutes. It doesn't get better than this.
Nestled in the woods that run along the Colorado River yet only minutes from downtown Austin, this cottage is reminiscent of the craftsman houses that were originally built in this historic area of the city known as Clarksville. The richness of the polished hardwood floors highlights the natural light that pours in from the many windows that enhance the open, clean line design of both the external and internal architecture.
This area is so rich in history. Post emancipation, Clarksville was established as a community to reunite families and all who convened were encouraged to live freely. The same is true today. This house is located in a highly coveted location that affords you the opportunity to truly discover Austin.

The cons: Our family of 7 stayed here. Ad said property slept 16 so imagine our surprise when we were charged for an 'extra person fee'. The owner said they do this for any amount over 6 but this was never in the ad (he says he will update ad). The bus had several non-functional lights, no running water and the bathroom there was only semi-functional making this part of the accommodation for sleeping only. The furniture was ripped in several places and held together by duct tape in others. We called ahead to make sure the kitchen had a blender. When we couldn't find it, owner had to come over only to find in the backyard. It was dirty and he handed it to me and told me to clean it up before I used it! There was dust and dog fur in all corners and under all furniture. I had to dust and sweep the minute we got there because apparently, maid left week before. Front bedroom faced the street with high traffic noise. Picture in this room of a woman stabbed to death not conducive to a good sleep. Dressers filled with bedding so nowhere to put clothes. Check out 11 am and lock code changed early while we were loading the car. We couldn't get back into the house to get the rest of our bags and the owner had to be called for new code while he told us how important it was that we leave (before check out time had occurred) so he could start to clean for the next guest.
Pros:15 min. drive to town. Dogs allowed. Lots of beds. Owner responsive to calls during stay

The property was conveniently located and had an eclectic style that fit right into Austin's vibe. Although we did not end up using the tour bus, it was a fun conversation starter and makes the property very unique and versatile. The host was proactive with communication, reaching out several days before the rental to introduce himself and always responded quickly. I would not hesitate to rent the property again the next time I am in Austin.

Had a group of 10 people stay for a bachelor party weekend, and this house was a perfect option. Has everything you need, plus extra sleeping space in the tour bus. Would highly recommend.

Great location, listing not accurate
Loved the location. However the listing is not accurate, no garden, no chickens, no smoker.

Quaint Austin stay
Property is close to many things in Austin. Quiet neighborhood, even tho it’s right off the highway. Worked out well for my family for thanksgiving. Would suggest more silverware, there were plenty of wine and shot glasses tho! Might have used them all. The tour bus was fun and interesting to see. Michael was very kind and easy to reach. House is original and keeping Austin ‘weird’ (I prefer unique), amongst new builds going up around it.

Lots of fun at the chicken ranch.
We will never rent from another property owner, when you find a good thing you need to stick with it! Michael was an excellent owner/manager, he is honest, professional, courteous, prompt and a thorough man. His home was exactly as described. The home was large, clean,up to date and in a safe, quiet, child friendly (park right down the street), centrally located neighborhood- there was even a great grocery store right around the corner! We have a large family and were blessed to be able to all stay together in one place, cook our own meals and eat all together at one table, we will never again stay at a hotel if Michael has a home available! It truly was a home away from home!

You have to stay here/
Thank you so much for everything that you did for us during our stay at your lovely home. The house is very comfortable and has everything you could possibly want, with lots of extra, thoughtful details.. The bedding was much more comfortable than we could have expected and the cost was so reasonable. We stayed with our grandchildren and it was great to have all the extra space over an hotel room. Michael has made sure that you feel right at home and is most helpful with any questions. Thanks again for your hospitality, we hope we can stay again soon.

Perfect!
My family and I stayed here for 14 days in March as a homebase for my daughter's wedding. I never rented a house before, and was a little nervous about what to expect. Mike was wonderful! He calmed my fears, and couldn't of been more accommodating! Having the house for entertaining and preparing for the actual wedding day was exactly what I wanted. My entire family(immediate and extended) had nothing but high praise for our living arrangements, including the chickens and ducks, fresh vegetables, and the great fire pit. Thank you Mike for an unique Austin experience, I couldn't of been happier!

Cozy and Convenient
Michael was very welcoming and helpful. The house was very cozy and unique. Loved his backyard with all the ducks and chickens. We had free fresh eggs each morning and it was delicious. It was a cool man's man cave. The location was also very convenient to all the activities we wanted to do. Wouldn't mind coming back to stay again!

Our first impression was "eclectic"!
The listing description was accurate, as were the amenities described. The property wasn't as clutter-free and clean as I would have liked it- but maybe that's because I'm a neat freak! We loved Mike (the owner) and Louis (the gardner)- they were very personable! There were no sheets or pillowcases on two of the beds when we arrived- but I called Mike and he said (after apologizing) he'd be happy to come over and take care of it. (That wasn't necessary!) Additionally we ran out of coffee (egads!), paper towels and bath soap. Again, Mike was wonderfully responsive- and we had them that afternoon! We loved having fresh eggs in the morning, and our youngest son loved the chickens and ducks! (The garden was amazing!) We would have loved spending more time at the backyard firepit- but our trip was centered around visiting family in the hospital. Location was great for us- because it was just a few streets down from family members. Mike did ask if there was anything he could do to make up for some of the issues we had encountered during our stay- and we told him it wasn't necessary. I would definitely recommend the property as I think the issues we encountered aren't the norm AND you can't beat having a homeowner go out of their way to make things right!!

We first showed up on Thursday and we had a blast as soon as we walked in. We were drawn towards the house because of all of the cool trinkets, chickens, firepit among other things. Michael was a great host. We had called him on Saturday to see if we could have some friends over for a fire and he obliged. He even came over to hang out for a while. We also had asked him to pick us up in his party bus downtown. He then took us around to see all the mansion on the river and was a great tour guide. We ate chicken and duck eggs every morning. How could it get any better? There is a coop on site with a wonderful garden and a chicken run. If we come back to Austin we would definitely rent this place again.Thank you Michael for all of your help.

Good time
Micheal sure does know how to treat his guest. He leaves you full access to the house. His home is only a 15 dollar cab ride to 6th street. He can get you a hook up to some good places in town with no worries it was a great place to spend my bachelor party I would recommend someone else do it as well!

PERFECT LOCATION
This house is well-stocked and ideally situated. No more than a $15 cab ride to anything worth doing, the house served as a perfect home base for our bachelor weekend. Mike was super hospitable and accessible throughout the stay.
The property was clean, advertised accordingly, and I would definitely stay again.

Coolest stay in Austin, very Portland & fresh egg!
The house was great! We cooked our own meals even gathered eggs each morning, enjoyed the record collection and admired the garden. Even got a ride on the "Party Bus" parked in the front yard down to the "Third Base Sports Bar". Owner was great and very accommodating, Highly recommend a stay...

Deep in the heart of Texas
Wow. What a great and convenient place to stay. We really enjoyed how cozy and quirky it was. The yard was a plus and having ducks and chickens made for great eggs in the morning. The location of the house is conveniently located for quick trip into the city. We would happily stay here again. The owner even gave us a ride in his party bus for free!

Would stay here again for sure. Thanks Michael and Louis for everything!

Our stay at Clucksville Coop
We had a great stay at Michael's place! Each day was an adventure. It's in a sweet neighborhood with great places to eat, and easy to get to most places in Austin. Even when we just stayed home, we were able to cook, set up our own version of disc golf, or hang out by the fire. Michael's hospitality was beyond expectations, and he knows some of the finest folks in Austin. My family felt very comfortable there. The kids loved the bus (not pictured). The neighborhood is safe; the property is clean and comfortable. I have recommended it to friends already.

College Football Weekend ....
Made the trip to Austin for the weekend to meet with friends and enjoy a UT game. The house was comfortable and provided the perfect atmosphere for the weekend. Getting over to the stadium was a quick (less than 5 min) cab down Enfield Rd with no traffic right over to our tailgate spot. We actually came back to the house early both nights to hang out there instead of hanging around the bars all night. The back porch was great for hanging with friends watching more College Football and MLB playoffs. Refrigerator, TV, comfortable chairs. The place provided great camaraderie and made for the perfect weekend.

Weekend with the Girls
We loved this house and defiantly enjoyed our stay! Very spacious house, especially the kitchen, it plenty of room for the 3 of us. The chickens in the back were an unusual plus. There are not many chickens where we come from, so it was super fun to see them in the backyard. The house was so close to everything we wanted to do during our stay - it's right in the heart of downtown! The owners were so very nice and helpful; they answered any of our questions and made us feel welcome! We absolutely recommend this house to visitors of all ages!
