The location was very good, on a lovely peaceful beach in the Soksan area (only a 20 min walk along the beach to the village). It was only a short motorbike/ tuk tuk ride from any other village/ area.
Dom was brilliant! He was extremely kind and helpful - he made us feel very welcome and helped us arrange our Tuk tuks and ferries around the islands.
The only small issue was the WiFi didn’t reach our room but we didn’t mind sitting in the restaurant area/ on the beach to get it

What makes this place truly worth the stay is the location, it's far from the backpacker crowds, it's calm, chilled and almost deserted. The beach was fantastic, great sand and not too ruined by trash, seems that it was cleaned. Restaurant was simple and the menu rather limited but the food I had was delicious.
The bungalow was very basic, it fit with the pictures and satisfied the basic needs (bed, shower+wc, AC) but I would have wished for cleaner bathroom floor. The pricing seemed to be fair for the island but I've stayed in similar places for less elsewhere, so it could feel a bit overpriced for some. You need a taxi to get there from the main pier (ridiculously overpriced on the island) or anywhere else if you'd like to dine out elsewhere for example - not a great disadvantage in my eyes but be prepared or rent a bike of you want to explore.

Grazie Dan!

The accomodation is simple, but to be honest, it was actually slightly better than we expected. We were prepared for no aircondition and no hot water as some reviews suggested, but this was fortunately not the case. The Five Mile Beach where the accomodation is located is truly a great place, far from crowds, ideal for few days of a complete peace of mind. The temperature of the sea is pleasantly warm all day long so we used this opportunity for a brief swim even before the breakfast - during some days there were completely no waves in the morning and it was simply one of the best romantic remote locations you can imagine.
The host was willing to help anytime we approached him, however during our 5 days trip he did not show any proactivity, at all, not a single time. I do not believe this is a type of approach that belongs to the hospitality industry, no matter where you are located and how many stars does the accomodation have. I talk about a general will to take care of the premises and basic comfort of guests. For example, our towels were changed after 4 days, after we asked for it. This is completely OK with me, though, the cleaning lady who came to our room, did not bring any new toilet paper even though it was obvious that it was needed. Also, as for the cleanliness of the beach where sun beds were located - the sand was mixed with tree needles and nobody from the staff did care. The excuse that this is a natural resort is not acceptable as we walked through the beach and we could see that other owners were more caring and cleaned the beach on the regular basis. The owner was all day on his phone, the staff member napping in a hammock whenever he had a chance so our impression was that they only do the least necessary to keep things runnning which was the main downside for us and could be definitely improved.

The best island, best beach and best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Dom and his staff are amazing people, truly nice and kind. I felt at home, and changed my whole trip so I could stay here for another 9 days. Still, I went home reluctantly. The sun sets rightly in front of the restaurant/reception. If you are lucky enough to secure one of the front beach rooms, you can also see it from your balcony. It’s a dream’s place.
I didn’t like that the maximum rate on booking was 10. I would give it at least 20 stars!!!

It was absolutely idyllic - the property is right on the beach and there is a very relaxed place to eat and drink on the beach front. It is a perfect place to relax. Dom went out of his way to help us (showing us the plankton, organising our transport, and generally just being so lovely and helpful). We had a brilliant time.
The rooms are quite basic and it’s not super close to any shops (you need to get a motorbike or tuktuk to go) so make sure you bring the things you need.

Location is great, one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen, and you have it almost for yourself! And the bungalows are just a few steps from it.
Staff is very kind and helpful.
The property is very poorly maintained, it seems management puts 0 effort on keeping it in a good condition. None of our windows worked, the shower hanger was broken, all the taps etc are so rusty, the door is full of holes filled with toilet paper, the surroundings/garden is not taken care of. No room cleaning or just even changing towels. We were expecting it to be basic, but it can be basic and well maintained - that was not the case.
We didn’t like the food at the restaurant, neither the breakfast served sometimes with not so fresh fruits and dry pancakes, and the tasteless rice with frozen-like vegetables. Plus of course it’s overpriced as there aren’t any other options nearby. Keep in mind that you need to go to the centre for tours or restaurants and always pay a crazy fee of 10$ one way.
Also it’s heartbreaking how such a beautiful beach is full of trash…

Beach Bungalows, barefoot feeling, super ruhig und gechillt, gutes Essen, sehr nette Betreiber - sehr zuvorkommend, schönster Strandabschnitt

Free kayaks and snorkels

The bungalow is basic but the view was amazing especially at sun set also your basically on the beach. There was a hammock too.
The bathroom was not very clean… and smelt terrible. Luckily you could open windows but there were no fly nets so you would get eaten alive but there was a mosquito net over the bed. Would be better if you could have all the windows open though as it is very hot - no shade on the bungalows. The restaurant was expensive compared to others…

directly on a squeaky clean stunningly serene beach, wow! all about the natural environment. like the hammocks on porch. so quiet and peaceful. staff lovely, feels homely and felt safe for a female solo traveler. recommend :)
see through curtains, didn’t feel private next to neighbours but otherwise barely anyone around. cold showers (but refreshing, so I wasn’t complaining). not much choice for food, but ok food in restaurant. bring cash!!

The beach is beautiful, the food is very good, the owner very caring. I really recommend this place not for the rooms but for the service the owner provide and his kindness. It is worth much more than a room.
The bed and the fact that there was no AC.

nothing it was perfect for me and my mum :)

the location is gorgeous. probably the best beach on the island . however the hotel itself is pretty shabby. if you’re afraid of insects it’s probably not a good choice. I had to kill a couple of big spiders😃. The hotel owner is a very nice guy. he let me ride his scooter bike for free. so to sum it up it’s a wonderful location with absolutely stunning views, sunsets and sunrises but just beware of those insects😄
I had to kill a couple of spiders. and I had to sleep with the lights on. no air conditioning just a fan.

The location is perfect and the wild beach is really amazing!!
Very expensive for the facilities and the lack of comfort.
The rooms could be much more clean and updated for the price.

Everything was fabulous, staff are very helpful and friendly, big thank you to Dom and Dara for such great service. SIM card doesn't work on the island and upon check in they give all guests a sim that works on the island. Rooms have good fans and mosquito nets. Beach is absolutely amazing!

Amazing place to stay some days and relax! The beach in front was really great and we didn't have much people around us. If you like to explore, you can use their kayaks for free to go to Soksan village, where you have more food options. I recommend everyone to spend one day there and come back at sunset for a beer in the homestay. People from homestay were very nice and welcome.
The cleanliness of the room could be better. I hope they will improve the restaurant/bar. Food is really good so if they do it it's an extra point!

The Owner and his son my this stay amazing!
4.0 / 5.0
It's one of the most secluded and beautiful spots on the island. The chrystal clear water, beach and white quietschy sand are just amazing! If you like a hideaway in nature where there's no noise, no tuktuks, no party, this is the perfect place. We really did appreciate the lovely team, Dara and Dom who made our stay pleasant and worthwhile at any time. The food and service were also very good! Thank you for your hospitality, your overall friendliness and appreciation of our wishes, you lovely people :))
The rooms are simple and basic but big. The bathroom could do a little makeover and maybe a hanger or shelf for clothes would be comfy. Unfortunately, the bed was too hard for my back and I didn't really sleep well. But that's sth that depends on one's habits how you like your bed. All in all, some minor things, worth mentioning but not meant as a
complaint - could be talked about in the future :)

The location on the island is spectacular !
The location of the beach front bungalows was further away from the check in/ restaurant. it looked cute from the outside but the inside was very dated with wrong sized bedding. The sink had trouble drawing which they were prompt to look at. Overall it felt like a Hostel rather than a hotel.

The owners were so friendly and helpful throughout our whole trip - thank you! The beach is one of the best we’ve been to and is so quiet and peaceful. You can use the kayaks for free as well as the snorkel equipment. Rooms are basic, but a good size. Food from the restaurant was really good for the most part. SIM card provide for duration of stay due to no wifi. Sun loungers provided for free as well as a free beer on arrival! Party on site for New Year’s Eve.
Koh Rong is a very basic island (which is lovely) but you need to be aware that unless you wish to hire a bike, you need to eat at the restaurant on site. We knew this before so was fine for us, but it is worth knowing. There are no shops or other places to eat close at all. We got bitten alive both in the sea and on the sand so bring insect repellent. Bring cash too as there is no ATM accessible and no card payments. The shower wasn’t cold cold, but more like swimming pool water temperature but ok once you’re used to it. Please make sure you get off at the Community Pier stop as we got off a stop before and ended up having to pay $30 (after haggling) to get us to the resort as there was no transport. Tuktuks still cost $15 dollars each way and the ferry was horrendous too. Most of these are not the property, but a realistic reflection on the island which are worth bearing in mind before booking.

Very nice guesthouse in front of an amazing beach, probably the most beautiful in Koh Rong ! The rooms are simple but efficient, the staff is friendly and helpful. Thank you for the sim card and for showing us the planctoon at night :) The place is easy to access with a motorbike (10-15 min) and once you get there, its so beautiful and relaxing !
