About this villa rental
This luxury oceanside villa features a panoramic view, a private pool, and a housekeeper/cook. It has five bedrooms and eight baths; and it comfortably sleeps up to 16 persons.
Let our spacious new luxury Villa Playamor pamper you in paradise. Our 6,200 square-foot villa is perched on a gentle hillside overlooking the beautiful mile-long Cofresi beach, one of the finest beaches on the Dominican Republic's north shore. Playamor is only a fifteen-minute walk from the spectacular new Ocean World marine eco-park.
Villa Playamor is designed for couples, small groups, or large family reunions. Gather with friends and family on the large terraces overlooking the beach and mountains. Enjoy gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, and the constant cooling trade winds. Or escape to the privacy of your air-conditioned bedroom and private balcony.
Playamor can sleep ten adults in private bedrooms with private baths.
The villa also has the capacity to sleep another six guests on convertible beds in other rooms.
Couples can expect an intimate experience with the upper private terrace being just right for romantic dinners and cuddling in the moonlight. The discrete staff will afford you all the privacy you desire. The private walled pool is perfect for a midnight skinny dip.
Small groups and large families will appreciate the two large family rooms, and the porches and terraces. Our dining table normally seats 12; and the porches can be set up for informal dining. But, if your family is like ours -- and you would like a little privacy from time to time, you will also appreciate the personal space and quiet time afforded by your large bedroom, private bathroom and balcony.
Relax on the porches; catch rays poolside; play and swim at the beach; or participate in one of the many North Shore tours and attractions that can be arranged for you by our American manager.
When you're ready, our bilingual housekeeper will serve you her fresh pina coladas and tasty snacks poolside or on the porch. Then she will pamper your palates with a dinner that you can choose from her extensive culinary repertoire.
If you decide to eat out, there are a number of excellent restaurants within a short walk or ride from the villa.
Your kids will love the beach and the pool. And when it's time to come in out of the sun, they'll enjoy the ping-pong table, video games, and DVDs that we have provided.
For our handicapped guests, Playamor was designed with your special needs in mind. The entire main floor and the pool area are wheelchair accessible. Your private bath is designed to allow wheelchair access as well. If you need special assistance, our staff can arrange to have someone available as needed. And should you need medical care, there is a 24-hour medical clinic only a few hundred yards from the front door and we have an American trained doctor on call for visits to the villa.
Playamor shares beautiful Cofresi Beach with two world-class resorts and the new marine eco-park, Ocean World. The coral sand is cool on the feet and soft to the touch. There is ample shade provided by swaying palms and lush sea grapes for those who have had enough sun but still want to enjoy the atmosphere. On one end of the mile-long beach there are rocks and coral that invite snorkelers. There are usually breakers for body surfing in some areas; but the rest is just right for wading. There are no rip tides, no dangerous undertows, and no jelly fish at Cofresi. The only sharks that you'll see are in the shark habitat at Ocean World.
Quaint Dominican souvenir kiosks are set along the beach area; but you will not be hassled by hawkers on the beach itself. That is not allowed. Beach chairs and water toys are available at stands up and down the beach.
For exciting nightlife, the casinos and Caribbean discos in Puerto Plata provide an electric atmosphere.

We had a wonderful time. The house and pool were beautiful. There is no star rating for the staff because they are so great! Ms. Nelly was so wonderful, gracious and such a great cook, if you leave the table hungry, it's your fault. The chicken sombreros, stuffed peppers and Tres Leche cake were some of our favorites. One of the highlights was a trip to the grocery store with her. Willie has the best personality, always a smile and helpful for anything needed. The pig roast was great, the host always answered questions (and I had many). There are a few suggestions if you've never been to the DR.
1. Always get a price before buying, even a taxi. They will overcharge if they can. The staff can arrange local, honest drivers.
2. Rent a golf cart for the duration of your stay, Willie is happy to help with this. The house is on the hillside and we opted out of the walk back up hill.
3.There is great little grill at the bottom of the hill Don Limon, he is quite the character. He is Cuban and the food is wonderful and reasonably priced.
4. We took the city tour from Gus who will come by. The guys who did the tour were fantastic, Gus not so much. We paid cash and our nieces said they paid also. When I asked him because he doesn't provide a receipt, he left me a nasty VM. I was just trying to clarify what we paid. We did snorkeling through Dressel dive shop in Sosua. I would book my own excursions next time. We hope to visit here again in the future and see more of the coutryside

Beautiful villa with lots of space for everything and everyone and absolutely gorgeous veiw to the ocean to see sunrise. Nice huge porch with shade and breeze and view to eat or relax, or play games. Everything is super clean! WIFI was stable and good, which was impotant for us since some of us were partually working online. Gabino (manager) is very responsive and helpful. He helped us to organize lots of taxis from airport at literally any time of day, so we felt safe. Nelly and Willy were there for us. They are very friendly and ready to help with everythging! Even if you cook by yourself (like we did) Nelly can buy you some food. But she is an excelent cook! 7-10 min to the beach or restaurant, or small store. I wholeheartedly recomend this villa for big companies!

6 of us stayed at the beautiful Villa Playamor for March Break. Everything was exactly as advertised - the house was huge and absolutely spotless.
We'd been in contact with our host multiple times before our stay with so many questions and he was always quick to answer.
We had great drivers to and from the airport - a large van with plenty of room for us and all our luggage. Lorenzo was even waiting for us at the airport with a sign with our name! We felt like vips from the moment we landed.
The pool and back porch had tons of room for us with shade and sun, and an incredible view.
We spent most of our time in and around the pool but we did also do a half day city tour that included the cable car up the mountain. Gus arranged everything for us so we were picked up in a private coach and had our own private tour guide escorting us everywhere. We also took the kids to Ocean World (a 5 minute walk away) and loved it.
There really isn't anything to do in the town of Cofresi itself, the beach is ok but a little dirty and there were a lot of people selling things. There is a small convenience store as well but it is pretty overpriced.
Nelly took us grocery shopping in Puerto Plata after we chose our meals for the week and everything she made was amazing.
If you're traveling from Canada I would suggest you exchange your money to Dominican pesos rather than usd, since you're exchanging anyway and it seemed a bit cheaper that way.
All told it was an incredible experience! Thank you

We had an amazing time staying at the Villa. The view , staff, pool , and house were wonderful. Milly and her helper made great meals and took very good care of anything we needed. Gus came the day after we arrived and arranged our excursions. Also arranged for messages and manicures , pedicures right at the villa . Would definitely recommend staying here and you will hate to leave .

What a beautiful Villa and Nelly and Miguelina were just fantastic. Norm, the owner, was super helpful and always communicated quickly to us. I would recommend this Villa to any large groups or families. What a great stay. The food was fabulous and Miguelina kept our rooms nice and clean. Thank you Norm for the wonderful stay.

Villa Playamor was “as advertised”, a gorgeous, spacious villa, beautifully decorated, fabulous views, comfortable beds, lots of lounge areas for quiet reading, wonderful staff and a fantastic pool. We couldn’t have asked for more of the accommodations. The down side for us was Puerto Plata. There wasn’t much to do within walking distance. The beach was a short walk, fine for swimming and playing in the sand but poor snorkeling. Ocean World, also a short walk, was exhorbitantly expensive and the water slides, a main attraction for us, were closed for maintenance so we didn’t go. Transportation was also very expensive for our family of 10 ($40 for a 10 minute ride to Playa Costambar)), as were the tours, which were kind of disappointing. The best part of our stay was the villa itself, relaxing around the pool and swimming (we read some complaints about the water being unheated and cold but we found it was just right), reading, playing games in the evenings. A great place for R&R, but the area not so great for adventure.

The staff was very friendly and helpful!!! Nelly was a great cook and Gus was very helpful with the tours. Marlena helped kept the house very clean. There are only 2 restaurants near place and one had very slow service and average food - best to just eat Nelly's food. The beach was ok but not very large and lots of individuals trying to sell you stuff. Homeowners were great at responding to questions. There were many beds that were average in comfort level. Beautiful house, pool and views. We loved the Waterfalls (only for fit individuals) and City Tour (request Eddie if possible - He was amazing).. Only caught 2 fish on 4 hours fishing tour for 8 people.

The house is wonderful....each bedroom has a separate bathroom, rooms are spacious, there are many different sitting areas if you need a space to read. Willie kept the pool sparkling clean. The housekeepers kept the house spotless even with 2 younger children. The meals Nellie prepared were fabulous. We felt like kings and queens.

A huge reason I booked this villa was based on the reviews so it’s only fair I leave my own review. This villa was remarkable. The pictures really don’t do it justice (Norm if you need updated photos we took over 700 while we were there happy to send you some 😄). It really is an a utopian oasis.
I booked this villa for my bachelorette party and it exceeded my expectations. The house is so big we all fit with plenty of room to spare. The view was breathtaking, the pool was perfect, and the staff was so helpful. Nelly made us two meals while we were there and we all agreed that her chicken with rice and veggies meal was better than any of the ones we had when we ate out.
In terms of activities we spent most of the time in the pool or inside playing games. We weren’t restricted by any noise curfews either which helped us swim and sing and dance altogether well into the night. We booked the catamaran for the second day and I highly recommend it. Everyone in our group agreed it was well worth the money for snorkeling, the boat ride, unlimited drinks, and food. Plus they drop you off right by the villa so it’s easy to go right back home and jump in the pool afterwards.
I’ll end it here, if you’re hesitant about this booking and might be a nervous and skeptical traveler like I am…book villa playamor. It was one of the best weekends I’ve ever had with my girls and I made memories that I will cherish forever.

Staying at villa Playamor was by far one of our best vacations. The place is exactly how described and pictures are accurate, but being there in person is the only way to enjoy the beauty of the location. Everyone morning we would watch the sunrise from the upper balcony. The greatest feature of this rental is the Villa staff. We fell in love with Miss Nelly’s cooking, she is family now. I highly recommend you read the information binder available at the villa, it has all the info/recommendations you need to fully enjoy your vacation and feel like a local. The owners built great relationships with local tour experts who will help you plan all the adventures and relaxation activities out of the comfort of the Villa living room. Villa Playamor will forever hold a special place in our heart. We hope to visit again.

On arrival we were met by Gabino, Willy and Sandy. While Gabino took us on a tour of the house, Willy and Sandy took our bags up to our room. . The views were stunning as were the sunrises. Nellie, the cook, was amazing and the meals were delicious. Miguelina did a wonderful job taking care of our rooms. Gus arranged for the ladies to have massages by the pool, which were fabulous and we highly recommend them. Our favorite thing were definitely the pool! As mentioned it isn't heated but that didn't stop us from using it every day. One day the pool pump stopped working and Willy and Sandy moved heaven and earth to get it repaired the following day.
The one thing I will mention is that we didn't read the house binder until the second day of our stay so we were not aware that we should have provided an evening meal for Jose, the night watchman. Fortunately the other Villa took care of him on those two nights and we made sure that we provided meals for him for the rest of our stay. Don't recall if this was mentioned prior to our arrival but if not, I think it is something that might be worth including in the arrival information. Norm, I apologize in advance if I was told about this arrangement and forgot.
Overall we had a wonderful time, the staff were truly amazing and we were sorry to leave!

It is an awesome setting for an awesome vacation. The staff was truly amazing. The younger members of our group enjoyed multiple adventures. Gus helped to change out activities to match conditions. Nellie (cook) and Magalina (assistant) exceeded our every need. Willie and Sandy handled everything we asked. Jose (security) provided a very secure feeling overnight! The ultimate compliment is we are trying to choose dates for our return trip.

The villa was absolutely spotless. Nellie and her assistant did a great job. The villa was spacious with plenty of room for our group of six to spread out. The pool was not heated so none of us wanted to use it. The villa was located within walking distance to the beach, a few restaurants and a mini market. Although walkable, it is not an easy walk. For those with walking troubles, the roads to the beach are not paved and are very steep. But overall a nice stay.

I can’t express how amazing everything was. First thing first, million dollar views. House is huge and perfectly layout. We were a group of 16 and everyone had their own corner to hide out is they wish. We didn’t feel tight or closed in. Staff were amazing, first time using services as chef but will now here forward. Excursion service would come directly to the home and schedule anything we wanted. Our teens were pick up at the house, transported to the excursions and drop off at the house. Adults barely left the house only for food shopping. Colmado delivery was easy and simple and they would deliver anything from the store. Norman was great and responded quickly. We love everything so much we agree to rent this home annually if possible. Highly recommended

I have now stayed at three different VRBO homes in the Cofresi area, and the Villa Playamor is just as nice as the other homes that I have stayed at in past years. While each home has it's own specific charms, we liked the sitting spaces that this house offered, where we've stayed in "larger" homes that actually had less space to spread out and relax with our large group. Having 2 refrigerators in the kitchen was also nice - in that the staff could keep the food they were making in one, and we could keep our drinks and snacks in the other. We will not hesitate to return to Villa Playamor.

My clients loved their stay. First and foremost, the pictures do not do this property any justice the place is beautiful. The water in the showers were a little cold, but that wasn't a big issue for us. The staff was wonderful to work with. If anyone else is going to Puerto Plata I would recommend the buggy ATV so that you can get the most out of your money, we had a great time doing that. There are also a few good restaurants walking distance from the property to eat at.

The accommodation, the view, the staff, the area is priceless. You could not ask for anymore.
Aswome pool, excellent staff

Omg! Where do I start?
First off, thank you Norm for giving me and my family the wonderful opportunity to stay at the beautiful Villa Playa Amor. Location was very safe, rooms were spacious and clean. The house and pool were exactly as advertised.
Nelly- the cook did a wonderful job serving delicious food. We chose some items from the meal plan book provided and some days we asked her to make whatever she chose. And I reiterate every meal served was delicious, well seasoned and tasty. She was very approachable and accommodating. Miguelina- who assisted Nelly, did a great job with the upkeep of the rooms even though we were a group of 10. Kudos to them both. Willy- did an outstanding job of welcoming us to the house and showing us how everything worked. He also did a great job with the upkeep of the pool, the grounds and general maintenance. When he saw that my sister was trying to play music on her phone, he even alerted the manager and next day a radio with wireless Bluetooth capabilities was set up (we didn’t even ask, we left in the morning, returned in the evening and there it was👍👍👍).
And the most important person- Jose, the night watchman. Least seen but his presence was felt. Just knowing that he was outside at night made my aunts feel secure.
And finally the manager -Gabino. I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting him as we were out and about when he stopped by but as I mentioned before he accommodated a need that we didn’t even ask for when alerted by Willie.
I would visit any of the villas Playa Amor, Simply Paradise or any others hosted by the Spencers. When going to Puerto Plata, book your stay with the Spencer’s, you won’t regret it. Thank you team Playa Amor. Hope to see you again soon🙏🤗

From the initial booking all the way through the goodbyes, we had a wonderful experience. The home owner was always available to answer questions and help in the booking process. The home was amazing and well represented on the site. The staff was exceptional, not only did we enjoy our vacation, but we made new friends. The entire group went above and beyond to make sure our stay exceeded expectations. Our trip would not have been as much fun anywhere else.

If you are looking for the vacation property of a lifetime Villa Playamor is the property for you. The pictures do not do this place justice either do 5 stars. The house is impeccably maintained and the views are amazing. The staff was cordial, professional and efficient. The first evening our group of 12 pooled $200 per person for food, beverages, gratuities which more than covered the week. Please note this group is big eaters. The excursions that were set up were extremely affordable in the $50 price range. I really suggest the tour which includes the waterfalls and countryside tour you really get a feel for the surrounding areas. The Cattamaran Tour is another great value and lunch is included. The pool at the villa was warm and inviting. The patios provided a great setting for this group of friends can relax and unwind. The villa is stocked with many dvds, books and games. Our group really enjoyed an evening playing Taboo. The beach is a 5 minute walk and the casino is less than 10. Speaking of the casino stick to blackjack as these slots are not loose. I would definitely suggest a day trip to Caberete Beach which was absolutely beatiful. Overall, Villa Playamor was the highlight of trip and for one cannot wait to return again. This is the perfect place for family reunions, group trips, a destination wedding or a business retreat.

Norm,
I cannot begin to put into words how much my family enjoyed our vacation this summer. The villa is more beautiful in person and the staff is absolutely THE BEST!
Thank you so much for everything you did to make our vacation wonderful. It exceeded all of our expectaions. We are just waiting for the next time we can visit the DR again. Perfect in every way.

This was my second stay at Villa Playamor and both visits exceeded my expectations. The villa is spacious, clean, beautifully decorated, with amazing views of the ocean. The villa staff is helpful, hard working, and friendly with infectious smiles. Your stay here is completely carefree without worries of cleaning or cooking thanks to Nelly and Rosemary. Our group of 11 varied in age from toddler to adult and all had a fantastic time. I would highly recommend if dining out to try La Parillada Steakhouse in town--big portions, great food all at a reasonable price. The jeep safari tour was a hit with the waterfall climb in addition to the catamaran tour to get out at sea. Also, if looking for a beautiful, clean, sandy beach venture out to Cabarete (approx 50 min taxi ride from villa) and spend the day--lots of shops, bars, restaurants. A big thank you to Dr. Spencer for sharing his piece of paradise with us. I hope I am blessed enough to return in the future.

Went with a group of childhood friends and spouses. Had a wonderful time. The staff is very cordial and quick to accomodate. The villa is lovely and had plenty of room to spread out and relax. I only have two suggestions for making travel a little easier. If traveling with a large group, make a food/drink bank to draw from for when groceries are needed (maybe start with $150 per person). Have someone in the group bring a calculator for converting the currency at stores/restaurants etc. All in all I would definitely stay at this villa again!!
