Fab, Fab, Fab

Everything about this hotel was excellent. The location is perfect for getting to Barrow but the island is much prettier. The staff were all so friendly and efficient. From the moment we checked in, to the moment we checked out. Our room was lovely and spacious and very clean. the bed was comfortable. We had dinner there which was delicious and breakfast which was substantial. My husband couldn't even finish his. Another couple kept making special requests which the waitress fulfilled without fuss and with a smile. We had to go into town which we knew was only a 25 min walk but the weather was so bad and we couldn't get a taxi. A member of staff dropped everything and took us herself. Amazing. Thanks Paula. When we returned and sat chatting in the Bar, Jack was the perfect barman. In the morning when we left, there were cleaners everywhere. Even cleaning the screens in the outside seating area. Would definitely book again.

Superb

The location suited our stay and easy to get to. The staff were really friendly and all enquirys met with a smile, nothing was to much trouble. The food was excellent. A very enjoyable stay.

Unfortunately we had to park under a tree and we had rather a lot of bird muck to clean of. Needless to say we didn't park there again.

Excellent stay at the King Alfred would definitely book again if visiting the area.

Good location, Clean and good sized rooms. Restaurant was excellent ate at it both nights of our stay and was very good value for money. Love music on the Friday night and seating available outside

Great comfortable hotel. Friendly staff and great value for money.

Location was ideal and easy to find. Breakfast was great and plenty of it including cereal, full English and toast. we also ate dinner in the restaurant the evening of our stay also great value for money. Will definitely stay again if visiting Barrow in the future.

Shower floor was slippery - could do with a shower mat.

Very happy to have stayed there

Very helpful staff in an emergency, quickly got me a taxi to where I needed to be, breakfasts included was excellent, as was the evening food, the single room had everything and was clean, likewise the shower great to get back to after running on the fells.

Lovely stay

On arrival the safe was very welcoming, our rooms was lovely and clean, really comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. Bed were made up everyday and new towels left. The breakfast was great with lots of choices available. The location was good and within walking distance to the town. Very happy with our stay.

If I had to pick out one thing to make it better it would be more hanging space as there wasn't any wardrobes.

Fabulous Freindly and value for money

Staff very accommodating for early check in. Very friendly the room was comfortable and very clean. Much better value for money than the Premier inn

Overall everything was good, lovely friendly staff, check in was easy and quick. Room was excellent value for money, clean and very comfortable.

The breakfast was a real disappointment, there were only three of us in the restaurant yet it took way too long to bring the food out. When it eventually arrived the bacon was burnt to a crisp on both of the full English. The rest of the food on the plate was very good. I do have to say that when I’ve stayed previously the breakfast was absolutely spot on, so maybe just an off day.

All good: nice room, free parking & wi fi, excellent breakfast. Like Arnie, I'll be back.

Easy to find, book in process quick & simple. Room was small but clean with tea & coffee sachets plus excellent shower. Breakfast was superb and the staff friendly. Highly recommended based on my stay and will consider for future visits.

My room (above the breakfast room) was quiet, but other guests mentioned that the noise from the bar below was a nuisance. A comfy chair would have been nice in my room.

Short overnight stay for business purposes and not far from the work site

The breakfast was very good and plenty of it to set you up for the day

I did not realise that with the pub downstairs that the music would resound through the building. It was not a big problem, as it stopped about 10pm. It did start up again at 7.15am which was not OK, as there was nobody there and any travellers wishing a longer stay in bed would be disturbed

Shame the lady from our first visit not there the second time as everything became hard work

The first visit was nice being greeted by a lovely lady on reception who couldn’t do enough for you, our second visit she was off & the standards fell.

The second visit breakfast became a hardship for the staff, limited English etc.

Good location and value

The location was great for us, the view from the room was lovely and the restaurant food is very nice in the evening. Lovely shower and bathroom

It was very noisy in the late evening, as people were congregating outside on the benches under our window and it was so hot, we couldn't shut the window, so the noise kept us awake, and there was a lot of joviality and singing and bad language. The breakfast if you asked for a full breakfast was cooked nicely, but the other provisions were a bit on the scant side. I suppose if we had a room at the back of the hotel it might have been quieter, but then we wouldn't have the lovely view!
