About this chalet rental
Great location only 2 miles from Northway/Rt 87. Steinmetz Lodge is a year-round Adirondack chalet located on Paradox Lake inlet. This year-round vacation home of 2300 square feet, constructed in 2004, is ideal for families with kids. The property has its own private waterfront and boat dock on the inlet, 150 yards from the lake, and access to a quiet, sandy, community beach for sunbathing/swimming. The Lodge has a fully-equipped kitchen and large family room on the main floor with a cathedral ceiling, Adirondack beams, gas stove/fireplace, and two sliding glass doors to a wraparound deck overlooking the waterfront. On the main floor there are two bedrooms (queen-size beds) and two bathrooms with showers and a third bedroom (queen-size bed) in the upstairs loft. Downstairs, there is a fourth bedroom (queen-size bed, a large sitting room area, pool table, card/game table, a rustic Adirondack pine-top bar and refrigerator, a gas stove/fireplace, a trundle or day-bed sofa (sleeps 2 persons), and a laundry room with a washer/dryer and bathroom with shower. A sliding door opens to the ground level for easy access to the large boat dock and fire pit sitting area. Paradox Lake is ideal for boating, sailing, waterskiing, swimming, and bird watching—there’s a pair of nesting bald eagles, loons, and herons. The fishing is excellent, with bass, trout, and northern pike. You can play tennis on the public courts at the nearby Town of Schroon Lake and golf at the Schroon Lake Municipal Golf Course and Ticonderoga Country Club. Terrific hikes of varying lengths and difficulty, from Severance Hill in Schroon Lake, 5 minutes from the Lodge, to the nearby Pharaoh Wilderness with numerous trails and remote ponds and scenic mountains. The High Peaks area is along the spectacular 50-minute drive north through Keene Valley to Lake Placid. Artsy Saranac Lake, with its excellent restaurants, is west of Placid. Hiking guides are available in the Lodge. Fall is a wonderful time to hike and enjoy the glorious color changes. In the winter, go ice fishing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. Downhill skiing at Gore Mtn. is a 35-minute drive and Whiteface is 45 minutes. The Lodge is close to many popular attractions, including Fort Ticonderoga, Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Lake George, and Saratoga. In the winter, be sure to check dates for the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival. In Schroon Lake, there are several restaurants and a coffee shop, as well as many shops catering to visitors, and the Paradox Brewery, which is opening a new site just north of the Lodge on Route 9.
A Tesla 240 volt, 40 amp, charging outlet was recently installed on the exterior of the Lodge.
Boating: You can bring your own power boat; the dock can accommodate most sizes. There’s a public boat launch on the lake. A canoe, paddles, and lifejackets are provided; a pair of kayaks with paddles may be rented from the Lodge. Boat rentals are available at the Schroon Lake Marina.

This was exactly what we needed, and all I can say is that everything exceeded our expectations. The communication with Larry was excellent prior to and following our stay. The house was clean and tidy, plenty of separate sleeping rooms, and the basement was the perfect hang out spot to play cards, pool, and fix a drink or two! We were also perfectly positioned to head out on the ice and fish on Paradox. We all had a blast and are already planning our return visits. Thank you again so much for sharing your Steinmetz Lodge with us!

Despite 3 days of rain, we really enjoyed our stay at this welcoming chalet. The house was clean and well equipped. The game room was entertaining during the bad weather. The fishing was great and the lake is beautiful.

10 of us spent Thanksgiving weekend here. It was super cold outside so we spent most of the time indoors. We lived in the game room. So much fun. Larry was great. He was super prompt and courteous in responding to our questions and the house is filled with notes, maps, recommendations etc. We are very glad we chose to stay here.

Second time we stayed at the house. Enjoy the direct water access for paddling as well as proximity to hiking trails. The layout of the house is great for family style meals and evening fun either outside at the fire or downstairs in the bar and game room!

Paradox Lake was our summer vacation every year when I was growing up. It felt so good to be “home” again, and with my parents being there, it made the trip all the more special. We wish we could visit every year like we used to when we were kids. We had a great time.

Good location on the outlet cove, shallow area for kids to play in the water and easy to launch the kayaks. Great setting of the fire pit. House was clean and well maintained. Owner was quick and prompt to reply to questions. Great value to be on the water!

Great Adirondack Weekend
Our family had a wonderful weekend at the lodge. The canoe was a very nice amenity. It got used a lot. Being on the inlet was great for the kids (4 around age 10) with the quiet water. The fire pit and grill were also used . In the lodge the kitchen and living spaces were well organized and comfortable. The beds left a bit to be desired but that was probably because we are used to our king memory foam beds. The mattresses could definitely be upgraded.
All in all everyone had a great time and hope to do it again next year.

Great week at the Lodge
We had a great experience, perfect size for a small family gathering. Cabin was well appointed, had everything you would need. Game room downstairs was perfect for the teens. Paradox Lake is beautiful, more peaceful than Schroon Lake. We hope to go again!

Wonderful week at the Lodge!
We just spent a wonderful relaxing week at Steinmetz Lodge. The house was roomy and clean (and had great Wi-fi!). The kitchen had everything we needed, and with the outdoor grill we ate in every night. We all fell in love with the quiet and beautiful Paradox Lake, and Schroon Lake was a quick ride away. Will definitely be staying here again!

Fall in the ADK
This house was perfect for a long fall weekend getaway. It comfortably accommodated 10 guests. The property was clean and quiet and the rec area in the basement was perfect.
4.7
Adirondack comfort
The Lodge is very comfortable and perfectly situated to visit Gote Mtn and North Creek, Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. The nearby village of Schroon Lake has a small supermarket, some restaurants, gift shops and music in the summer. Seagle Music Colony is a grand venue but reserve well in advance. The Lodge has plenty of visitor pamphlets and helpful issues of Adirondack Life magazine.

lovely place
Nice place to spend a few days. We enjoyed our stay a lot, even though it rained and the lake wasn't frozen. The house was cozy and warm, plenty of space for two families. Everything was just as advertised, and the owners were very pleasant to deal with.

Great house/great location!
We were delighted with the house and location. Plenty of dishes, cookware—everything we needed. Comfortable beds, a large kitchen table and everything was well-maintained. The large porch has a beautiful view of the river and provides seating in both the sun and the shade. Two kayaks came with the rental and they were good ones! Met many friendly neighbors on the short walk to the sandy beach. We hope to stay here again!

This is a very, very old picture. It is a cute cabin, but needs a little tlc. NOT on the lake.
When we pulled up, we were a little surprised it was not on the lake. The pictures made it seem that it was. There is a dock and you can access the lake, but you need to walk down the street to the shared beach. Everyone was very friendly, so that was not a problem. The house itself needs a little tlc. But, all in all, we enjoyed our stay and had a nice time doing hikes in the area. Really no place to bike though.

As described. House was clean and well stocked. Owners notes and explanations were clear
House and deck were perfect. Downstairs game room was fun. The
firepit area was avoided . Needs weeds cleaned up. All chairs around fire pit were either broken or green

relaxing week
House was nice and a good fit for two families with 4 adults and 4 kids. Little bit of a walk to the shared beach that has a lot of locals ( some friendly some not so much). Water access at the house is nice if you have kayaks but it's NOT a swimming area. Great little town down the road with places to eat. The basement was a bit musty and the water pressure was pretty low. Also the two twin beds are a trundle in the general basement area.

Family fishing weekend
We have been coming to the lodge for 11 years now in the fall. It's our family fishing trip and we have never been disappointed. Even if occasionally the weather throws us a curve the lodge has the downstairs rec room complete with pool table and poker table. This year our host added WiFi! The people are great and a pleasure to work with. The deck on the lodge is great place to relax and you can have a camp fire down by the water. We'll be coming back as long as they let us. Thanks Rick, Lloyd and group.

A slice of heaven on earth!
I had the extreme pleasure of using the house over winter break with my family of 4 and another couple. The kids were in love with the play room. I could hardly drag them away from the pool table!!
The house was so comfortable and inviting. It was very clean so I was happy to cook breakfast and diner. Everything I need was right there.
The location of the house is great. Very easy to find and easy to get to. The view out the window is beautiful. you see water as well as a great deck. ( I am already planning my return in the summer to sit there with a cool one!)
I took a walk onto Paradox which is just a couple of minutes (5) out of the door. The vistas were breath taking!
I can't say enough good things! I would highly recomend the lodge to anyone wanting a clean, comfy get away!!
