The building is so beautiful and has a special charm. We were sitting outside on the small terrace and enjoyed the sun and the peaceful atmosphere
We liked everything and wished we could have a better conversation as our Spanish is less than basic and the owners english os so good either

Really exceptional accommodation in a beautiful building with great food that was very reasonably priced.
I got off to a bad start with the owner by arriving outside reception hours and not reading the information properly. Make sure you take notice of the emails to avoid the same fate.

Nice old building. Vineyards and other old towns worth a visit all nearby. Food was very good, incl. dinner. Private parking. Very good value for money. On Friday, from late afternoon onwards, many locals gathered in the small hotel bar for a drink and tapas. Even though we don't speak spanish, it was fun hanging out there and drink a whine. Total foreigners to us, they were quick to share their tapas with us. Really nice.
All good

This is a beautiful property . The stair rail which is sculpted in metal could be in a modern art museum.
The food, especially the breakfast is excellent. All is well and yet not quite right. I would stay here again I think.
it may be me but I felt that the main contact at this property could be a bit friendlier. Not sure he is cut out for dealing with guests.
Having said that the kitchen staff are ‘suffering I guess’ with a sort of misanthropic overseer.
you cannot doubt the quality of much that is here that is spoilt a little with the attitude of the man who runs the place. It may be ‘language’ but I think the main man despises the guests. This is at the beginning of the season..

We loved it here. I believe this was once a 16th century residence. The room was amazing. Plenty of room. The views from the windows just beautiful. We stayed 2 nights during our 3-week visit to Spain. Location is absolutely perfect for touring bodegas in La Rioja region. Their breakfast was perfect. We did have dinner one evening - excellent. We had a car and was able to park on site. All compliments. We highly recommend and will stay again if we ever return to this area of Spain.

lovely location in a small village, excellent breakfast and dinner outside in the garden. really enjoyed sampling the local village wines in the bar with lots of locals. The hotel is a beautiful property in the heart of the Rioja region.

Lovely hotel, great breakfast and food generally.
Stay was spoiled by the unfriendly proprietor. We tried to engage with him several times but he gave minimum responses. This was felt by other guests we spoke to. A real shame as this was the only time during our stay in Basque country where we didn't get helpful and charming service.

We were very happy at this hotel. Lovely building, very nice room, very good and comfortable beds, great host, wonderful breakfast, great dinner and a private parking space. All just in a small village right the middle of the Rioja. We will definitely stay here again if we visit the rioja area next time
Nothing. Contact with the host was very pleasant. As he was only able to welcome us after 18.00 hrs, he let us know well on beforehand and was very communicative about this. A pleasant contact.

Lovely family run hotel in a sleepy village in Alta Rioja. We selected it based on previous reviews which highly rated the food and we were not disappointed. The 4 course dinner was exceptional. Enough choices and the portion sizes were perfect. We really did feel that the quality of the food was amazing. Breakfast too was fresh and served to your table (not buffet style which makes a change!).
Not much.... small bar area where we had an aperitif was a bit cold. The bar is frequented by the locals so there was a lively atmosphere but that did not disturb us.
Would have preferred the red wines to have been served a bit more at room temperature as they were served cold so suggest you just ask a few hours before dinner for the bottle to be removed from the cellar?
There's not a lot else going on in Abalos so we really used as a base for visting Haro and the wineries in the region. Its a pretty village though with an impressive church.

Everything. The hotel was spotless, the room was well appointed and very comfortable, and the food was excellent. We stayed on a half board basis, and enjoyed the fare very much. Only one minor downside was that the hotel bar does not open on the days of the week that we were there, but that is not a complaint, merely an observation as we would have liked to have had a pre-dinner drink in the bar. The car park attached to the hotel was secure, and the village itself was beautiful. Would certainly recommend.
There was nothing we didn't like, although, as mentioned, having the bar open would have been an added benefit.

The perfect location in the centre of the cute village of Ábalos, and the private parking. In addition to that, the meals were delicious!
none.

A beautiful, quiet place to stay in the heart of La Rioja. The owner José Luis and his wife have decorated the hotel, within a large house, with great taste and the evening meal was sumptuous, as was the breakfast.
Nothing. It was perfect for us.

Wonderfully restored old house in the centre of the village. Lovely lounge area to read in. Nice garden. Excellent menu in the restaurant.

An amazing hotel with a really exclusive and friendly feel. The traditional stone building is very impressive and the interior is tranquil and relaxing with a great mix of traditional and modern features. The bedroom and ensuite was very well presented and felt spacious especially with the high ceilings and the thick exterior walls really help to keep the whole place cool, which given the incredibly hot weather we encountered was a real bonus.
The food and beverage side is equally as impressive as the accommodation and we ate in for most meals during our stay; the breakfast was fresh and wholesome with fruit, yogurt, honey, cereals and a cooked breakfast with all of the usual accompaniments. Dinner was a simple menu of sharing tapas, starters, mains and desserts and everything we experienced was prepared to perfection! Almost goes without saying that the choice of wines and other drinks available was epic and at such reasonable prices too.
The staff were also really friendly, helpful and accommodating to any requests we had during our stay.
