1.5
The apartment is an a superb location in an apartment complex with beautiful gardens, swimming pools, tennis courts and only a few steps from the beach. It is very relaxing and quiet during the evenings and there are plenty of good restaurants, butchers, fishmongers and little supermarket. The town of Zahara is about 2km away and you can either walk there or drive.
The apartment was not clean enough and the towels had stains on them. The bathrooms are falling into pieces, the shower tiles are all over the place. Terrible beds (very uncomfortable mattress and pillows) very unstable too. This apartment urgently needs a thorough clean and refurbishment.

Great location, nice garden surrounding the buildings, gorgeous beach, staff willing to help (but don't expect them to speak any English)
1. Every other hotel or apartment where we stayed in Spain over past years had fans in every bedroom in case it didn't have air conditioner. Here - no aircon and no fans, we could only sleep after 3 am in hot weather.
2. An electric or stovetop kettle would be nice - we had to boil water for tea in a pasta pot.
3. For some reason they make it unnecessarily hard to find the place where you get your keys - send GPS coordinates in check-in instructions and tell you to "just make a call when you arrive" when you ask for exact location. Actually you can simply search Google Maps for "Puerto Zahara S. A." and find it.
4. The apartment was a bit dark, with too much huge furniture for such a small space. We (3 adults and a preschooler) felt like we were always bumping into each other. Maybe there's enough space for a couple adults and one child, not for four people. Photos of the property didn't help - there are shots of different apartments in one listing, so, when booking, we couldn't figure out how exactly our place will look like.
5. Nobody speaks ANY English, including the girl who did the check-in, be sure to have Google Translate on hand if you don't get basic Spanish.
6. The pool closed on September 15, they didn't reopen it despite weather being as hot as in August.
