Comfortable relaxing stay in Playa Esterillos

It’s ideally situated near a beautiful beach with clean fine sand and few tourists. It’s a wide beach that is great for walking or wading (not a swimming beach because of the surf, which is beautiful though). It’s a small hotel in a quiet location that’s well maintained located around a nice pool area where you can relax with a drink and hear the surf.. We also liked the hotel because it was outside the hustle and bustle of Jaco and closer to some of the great things to do and see in Manual Antonio and Quepos - just a 30 minute drive. The on-site restaurant has good food and good service with a poolside bar open until 10 pm. Very good value

Pleasant rooms with excellent breakfast and pool.

The staff was very kind and helpful with recommendations in the area. The rooms were very spacious with working AC. The beds were also very comfortable. My personal highlight was the breakfast and the pool. Breakfast every morning was delicious! It included fresh fruit, 1 entree, and our choice of orange juice or coffee. It was very relaxing to come out and not have to worry about breakfast at the start of the day. The pool was pretty big and deep (careful with the kiddos), but did have a shallow part that was separate that kids could play in.

Friendly staff. Great food. Best place as hub if you wanna explore surrounding attractions like parks, beaches, and horseriding. If you want to stay away from the crowds, this place is for you.

Towels need upgrading. Electric kettle in rooms would be a great addition.

Tired, dated, poor value for money

Good breakfast, very close to the beach, breakfast staff friendly

Very tired and dated rooms. Pool area tatty with lots of missing tiles. Place needs a full renovation! Bed sheets and towels stained, bathroom shower head looks like it's never cleaned. Room door was damaged at the lock and I wouldnt feel safe it staying here without my partner. It worried me that the first page of their tatty room welcome brochure states they do not allow prostitution or drugs which suggests they have had problems with this previously. This gave us an icky feel. Overall it was a lot of money for a sub standard hotel. Would stay elsewhere.

The staff were great. Very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very good. The location was perfect. The price was fair.

The room. The layout is terrible. You have to cross all the room twice to reach the bathroom. Bathroom layout is strange and dangerous. Not very friendly with disabled people or elders

would return for sure, maybe rent a car so could tour nearby areas. bus service not bad.

all went well. hotel in a quiet location, several others nearby, plus gated condo community for San Jose weekenders up the road. small problem for bus passenger arrivals, no shuttle to hotel. but only a 10 minute walk , so not really a deal-breaker. restaurant and liquor store near highway, good food available at reasonable price. hotel rooms have mini-fridges so a cold beer always nice. pool decent size, loungers fine, pool towels available. staff really helpful,

only 1 restaurant, the "soda" near the highway, would have been nice with more choice. but hotel restaurant fine, maybe a little expensive. hotel breakfast (incl in room price) very good. also many books available in "library"

Nice clean secluded hotel, good to stay for a few days. Friendly staff, good breakfast. Was nice to watch hummingbirds, lots of macaws flying around, and other representatives of the local fauna while sitting in the swimming pool. The road to the hotel is good for any type car. Good restaurant on site, and a few more at ~1km in the city.

The bathroom is outdated and poorly ventilated. Nowhere to hang wet clothes.

Very kind staff. Ideal for families. The beach is 50 m away. The pool is clean and at nice temp. Breakfast is very good, so is the restaurant.

needs upgrading. but due to the pandemic, a lot of places are strapped for money so it will take time. this is definately a Diamond in the rough. well worth the stay.

Unforgettable last days in Costa Rica

The staff is very very friendly and helpful regarding bus schedules, tours etc. The sweet lady at the reception gave us an extra large room cause we stayed there for a whole week. Breakfast is a choice of 6 dishes and tastes very good. After checking out when we were on our way to the bus station, they even picked us up and gave us a lift from Bejuco to Jacó for free!! There, the driver took us to the bus station to get our tickets to San José and then we could leave our luggage in their partner hotel in Jacó and stroll through the city without our heavy backpacks! Can you believe this? Afterwards they took us to the bus station again! FOR FREE!!! I can't even find words for such an incredible hospitality! Costa Rica - it's been a pleasure!

The sunbeds are a bit hard since the cushions have been removed from the wooden sunbeds. Nevertheless great pool and relaxing. :)

Playa Bejuco's loudest residents--the resplendent, monogamous Lapas, the always bickering Red Macaws

Interesting architecture and room design. The Dutch owners made sure it met all standards but was not a carbon copy of a standard North American small hotel/motel.

The food and the attention from the staff, the food quality was bad, the products were not fresh, the breakfast just missed the mark. The prices are expensive for local tourism and without the quality you expect from a hotel of this category,
