It’s heritage, warmth and energy.

Quiet out of the way place, full of history, nice pool. Lovely views of the monestariat and gardens.
The very steep gravely track, I ride a large Harley and struggled to get back up.

Incredible house with loads of character.
An oasis of silence with stunning surroundings and a magnificent garden.
The staff is very friendly and the experience is a great contrast to the usual big hotel business.
Location is a bit isolated if you have no car .
The road leading to the property is a real experience
4.2
The garden is well-kept, stunningly beautiful. The pool is large, clean with clean water. Nature views are great, silence all around. Wonderful location.
The house is maintained to a high standard, however, a repair of the house was made some time ago. The house has an antique-type of smell. The furniture is antique, but some of it has worn out and lost its functionality.

We never found the place
We couldn't find a place. The road was so narrow we couldn't drive there. Wasted money. Luckily another accommodation was found.
4.2
As expected, good but nothing speci.

It is a stunning historical building and grounds. A hidden germ. If you are driving be careful on the narrow gravel road to the property.
The building used to be a monastery. How amazing is that? I looked at our rooms and was first suspicious whether any of us with get a good night sleep and we slept like dead.
4.2
the hotel is very cozy and brings a nice atmosphere of ancient times which only improves the whole experience of visiting such a place like Sinatra. the garden is amazing and I am happy we found time to take some time from relaxing next to the pool
I am dissatisfied about the level of the service - 3 days there was no warm water in the room and nobody cared to answer my calls or messages !!!! The service don’t speak any English and even if they called someone it didnt work. The room was very humid and stinky because of that ( as the whole luggage after the stay). I wouldn’t be surprised if there is painted mold… I am pregnant and I sincerely wish I am not right as it can have very bad side effects. Not recommended to arrive without a car or a car that you care for, as the driveway is steep and in bad condition
4.2
Lovely structure with a relaxing and beautiful view! From my room I could see the swimming pool ( the water temperature was perfect) and the woods.
There were just other 4 guests and the owner was friendly and gave us a few tips on where to eat. Breakfast can be included for 7.5€ for each guest.
The library made me think about "Beauty and the beast movie", love it! The garden is huge and really peaceful
Parking spot available just next to the structure, quinta da ragleira and the Palace of Montserrat are close-by the Quinta.
The road to get there is not made for every car.
Swimming pool could have been a little bit more cleaner.
4.2
Its a beautiful location if you enjoy sunbathing, pool, have a car and are only on vacation (not for working in between)
WiFi, available (not properly) inside (not in all common area), you have to be in a closed / dark sitting area if u need to do some work.
Difficult to get an Uber to or from there to town ... they keep cancelling you.
No food available around nor in the Hotel... Uber eats / Glovo Dont go up there unless its a meningful delivery.
The bathroom had a terrible smell the 1st night, maybe bcause of the rain they said... But although not in the same intensity, it kept coming back later and sadly, you cant leave the windows opened bcause of the insects.

Beautiful place in a beautiful location. The staff truly cared and took care of us.
Communications were terrible. We called, emailed and messaged and never once received a response. With several current guests helping, calling and texting, it took 45 minutes to find someone to check us in. We received an errant email thanking us for our stay the day before we were to check out. We responded via Booking.com, called and texted; never to receive a response and had to worry all day if we would have a room upon our return.
4.2
Beautiful surroundings, nice pool. The house is old and has character. The family running it is very friendly.
It's a bit hard to reach, the road is bad so it's difficult to get out at night. A taxi can be arranged but is a bit pricey (around 40 euros). The breakfast is very basic and not worth the 7.50 euros per pax, a nice espresso in town with a pastry is around 3 euros and of much better quality.
4.2
Incredibly picturesque property - spent time exploring the stunning pool/gardens and interior furnishings. Staff were so kind and the breakfast was lovely. Located near the castles. Can UberEats food delivery if needed!
The access road is unsealed and very long and narrow (1km) so it can be a bit of effort to drive in and out of the property especially in the dark, hence access to food at night is a bit limited. However we managed to successfully order UberEats for our first night’s dinner!

the house is amazing, i would really recommend it to everyone.

Amazing stay with 3 of my friends. We had two double rooms and one bathroom.
The place was quiet and beautiful.
We had the opportunity to stay near the pool and enjoy the beautiful landscape.
Difficult access to the hotel by car.
No store or restaurant around the place.

The Quinta is just the most beautiful, romantic place in an incredible setting with so much beautiful nature. The staff were wonderful and so accommodating and we had everything we needed. The pool was just heavenly. We booked the dining room for dinner on Friday night and the homemade chicken and fish pie was just incredible. Breakfast in the morning was also so delicious and plentiful
There wasn’t much to not like! It was so perfect. There were quite lot of mosquitoes at night but of course that isn’t the hosts fault. We would have appreciated a bit more correspondence before we got there as had a few questions before we arrived that went unanswered, but when we got there everything was to our liking and staff were very attentive
4.2
Quiet and beautiful. it was like staying with family. The staff were very kind and helpful and the hotel is more of an historic grand home.
The driveway requires a confident driver but it is not a problem once you do it the first time. Arrive during the day to see better.
4.2
it’s a wonderful house in the middle of paradise. owners are really kind, talkative and very authentic people.
staff is helpful, friendly, and kind.
I felt like I’m at my mother’s house.
don’t go there, if you don’t like to be in the nature, if you care about your car more than nature, if you are looking for a luxury place and a group of staff to take care of you, if you’re looking for facilities, if you’re craving for eating and drinking near swimming pool.
if you hate mosquitoes, insects, and other small animals, this place is not for you.
This place is authentic, not luxurious. this place is for silence, meditation, contemplating and being in nature, and staying away from busy life.

Gorgeous atmosphere
4.2
Incredibly unique place, relaxing, spacious, with plenty of character and charme. Not just the house feels a museum itself, but the garden, the view and the surroundings are breathtaking. Excellent base to explore Sintra, Cascais and the coast. Use extracare on the unpaved access road, yet part of the tucked away experience
4.2
You definitely need a car. The Quinta is a mile down a very broken track which taxis do not like.
The staff are helpful but quite often there is nobody about at all.
The room was not vey clean.
4.2
We were welcomed by The family ownership of The place. The week unfolded around The lobby of The estate due to Its Good wifi connection. The fireplace, garden and independence of The house was very productive for our work.
Having WiFi in The rooms Would have been even more ideal. The Organisation taking care of booking made little effort to get an invoice After speedy payment from our side.

Food was ok
The access to the hotel was very poor not really suitable for a car a 4x4 would be ok
4.2
Beautiful location, view to the ocean, amazing history and house, swimming pool, good food and breakfast. Nice cordial staff, quiet stunning natural surroundings.
Beautiful location but we needed more information for example, how difficult the access to the Quinta was. Also when we arrived the maid (Célia) did not give us all the necessary information and lead us through the service door instead of the main entrance! Also the tennis court was unkept and not in use.
4.2
Beautiful location. Very quiet. Mysterious atmosphere. We hope we’ll come back someday.
Many mosquitoes in the room, which smelled moldy (but it is a very old building after all).
Nobody at the reception the whole time.
4.2
Good breakfast, nice place.
Horrible access road to the house for motorcycle. No restaurant in the vicinity. Lot of mosquitos in the room.
4.2
a paradise surrounded by green
4.2
The place itself is beautiful, the staff was very nice.
There is nothing around, no store, no road. You need to have a car. If you want to spent time at the beautiful place you need to be prepared.

For anyone reading these reviews let me tell you, I'm not one to write these things but I feel I should shed a little light. I was in two minds whether or not to book Quinta de Sao Thiago as the reviews were rather hit and miss but I am so glad I went with my instincts here. For anyone who is looking for contemporary, modern, high-tech, forgettable hotels, don't book this place. On the other hand, if you enjoy the true essence of beautiful old buildings, crammed with interesting antiques, charm and romance around every corner, classical gardens, authenticity in every detail down to the smell of history, then book without hesitation. Yes, there's an air of must around the house but its an old building which is so special because it's been allowed to hold onto its full character and that is what you should love it for.... like walking into an old bookshop. It was exactly as I'd hoped and more. The staff speak almost no english but for me that just added to the pure authenticity of the place. The location and soul of Quinta de Sao Thiago will stay in my memory far longer than any 5 star hotel I've stayed in prior. Its simple yet grand. Thank you for a wonferful couple of days
I don't have a bad word to say about the property, location or the staff. The road is slightly tricky but once you've made it down once it's pretty simple to negotiate after
