Location
A little old some interior items

Very charming bedroom, comfortable, well decorated. Nice location close to Stephenplatz, big public garden, and Alster lake. I did not test the breakfast. The value for money was good, to my opinion.
Wifi was so so for one day, then it came better and I had no issue.

Breakfast was very nice. Friendly staff, very convenient location to the conference centre.

The hotel is very close to the Congress Center Hamburg, just on the other side of the railway line. The train station Hamburg Dammtor sits in the middle. There's a few small supermarkets within walkable distance. It's a quiet neighborhood, there's a bit of noise from the large street running next to the train line but it's not really noticeable when the windows are closed. My room was big and airy.
As others wrote, the hotel is located in what was at some point a grand old building. While you can still guess what the building must have look like, its interior decorations haven't been well maintained and many moldings and old doors have been crudely painted over. There are multiple hotels in there, Amsterdam is on the second floor with some additional rooms on the ground floor. I had a room on the ground floor. The floor in that area is solid wood, and it creaks to no end. There doesn't seem to be any soundproofing either, so you'll hear every move of your neighbors and they'll hear yours. The bathroom was a little room built into a corner of the main room, and small -- one person at a time. Most of the furniture apart from the settee seemed to be Ikea, and not in a very good condition. There was a dearth of power plugs, and I had to unplug a bunch of things (TV, clock, etc) to get some power near the bed. The wifi was terribly slow in the evening. They provided a network cable in my room, which I used the first two nights for a private wifi access point. It worked much better, but after that they blocked access to the internet via the cable. Finally, the breakfast is very basic and is definitely not worth the 15€ asked for it.

location was very good in Hamburg close to Aussenalster lake
The bathroom is a health and safety hazard!! Too small, and you have to climb on top of the toilet seat to get inside, you cannot walk in. There is own handrail but really tricky to get in and out of. I can't believe this would be sanctioned by health and safety regulations, if so they are very lax. Impossible for a couple with a baby or elderly people, far too dangerous. Besides that the room felt too cold at times and was far too small. The marketing of the hotel and what we actually got were night and day.

I bought one night hotel stay as a gift for my friend. I already left my bank account and accepted to pay it. But when my friend and his girlfriend entered the hotel they didn't allow them to stay. My friend felt terrible because of "my gift". I am very disappointed - they charged my money as my friend already used it - but the fact is that they even didn't allow him enter the room. Strongly disagree!

It is a great location, only a 5 minute walk to the train station.
A quirky hotel with great rooms, and excellent service from the staff.
The breakfast was really fresh, and the waiters were so nice.
Room 14 was a great size, and front facing so the view is great. Also really quiet and no noise from other rooms or outside.
The only two things that let it down were the sofa in my room (14) was looking a little worse for wear, and could do with a deep clean. Other than that the room was immaculate, and it wouldn't stop me staying here again, and recommending it to others.
The WIFI wasn't great in room 14 when trying to do some work, it wasn't great at connecting.

Room was clean, staff is polite and location is very good! We were traveling with a pet and they were very accommodating of that, although there is an additional charge of 10eur per night payable at the hotel - this was not included in the total cost of booking or informed automatically. Only when we reached out we were told.
There is no private bathroom inside the room, although it is in the same corridor. This is still manageable. However, the shower and sink are located in the room itself, and there is no partitioning!! It is very weird and uncomfortable especially when you're traveling with other people. Would recommend for a short budget stay, but definitely not recommend it for a very long stay just because of the shower situation, unless you're willing to step out when the other person showers :p

Despite being located close to Dammtor station and a major road, our rooms faced a sidestreet and were quiet and dark at night. The operation is slightly weird with 5 different hotels and apartment lets being based within the same characterful older building, Hotel Amsterdam occupying the 2nd floor (via a lift if needed)
Our rooms had copious storage space
The beds were long and extremely comfortable
The lady looking after breakfasts was friendly and helpful
Check-in was perfunctory and information delivered at breakneck speed
The bathroom was absolutely tiny, without working ventilation or heating
Heating for the room itself was via an old (and enormous) water radiator, but the control valve was hidden away and covered by a cupboard so it took us 2 days to discover it

1. The hotel is very particular. On the second floor is the reception and the restaurant, plus a large room on the 3rd floor, going upstairs through narrow staircase just passing the reception. And on the Erdgeschoss floor is where the other rooms are.
2. The building where the hotel is located is shared. There are five other hotels there. I found this very cool. I had not seen this modality before.
3. The location of the hotel is fantastic. You can find restaurants and cafes nearby at a great price. Not to mention that it is just around the corner from the University of Hamburg.
4. Very easy to find transportation and very close to Dammtor station.
1. The rooms did not have a kettle to make a cup of coffee or tea before going to bed. The lady at the front desk was kind enough to heat water and pass us the kettle with hot water. However, it is much better when there is a kettle in the rooms.
2. The rooms were not adjoining, one was on the second floor (this was a loft type room with quite narrow stairs) and the other room was on the Erdgeschoss floor.
3. The Erdgeschoss floor where the hotel rooms are located is a wooden floor which sounds a lot when you step on it.
4. The bed in my room 38 was also a bit noisy.
5. This room that seems to be on a mezzanine is not bad, but you can hear the conversations at the reception, the smell of coffee when they prepare it in the kitchenette below the room. So I do not recommend room 38 if you want more tranquility and feel more privacy.
6. The pillows are one of those big 80x80 pillows which I don't like. That was not comfortable for me.
7. The lighting in the rooms could be better. It was very warm, low intensity artificial light. I could not make up very well with that lighting.

Confortable and well located
The toilet had a bad smell all the time.
The sound isolation is not good. During the night we could listen when other guests passed on the hallway.

Excellent location with a big train station nearby . Very easy to get To the Congress Centre and also into town . Clean, functional rooms and decent breakfast for what you pay .
I had booked a room not realizing that it had a shared toilet. Upon realizing this , I made a New booking at the same hotel and requested To cancel My original booking . My booking terms clearly stated that 1 nights room fees would be deducted ( as per booking .com) as it was 48 hours before My scheduled check in . Despite this , they charged me the full amount for both rooms for all three nights , despite me pleading and emailing them several times . A staff member later told Me that the management had done the same thing To a visually impaired Lady who had Accidentally booked the wrong room type . Imagine fleecing money off a disabled person.
The whole experience left a very bad taste in My mouth . Otherwise , the hotel Is not bad . Just feel ripped off.

We liked the location and friendly staff. The room was big and comfortable.
The hotel is dated, it is okay.. but everything is just a little bit grubby and old. The hall smells like old ladies and the walls are thin. It was way to expensive for what we got.

Good location with 15 min. walk to Messe. Convenient for Messe visitors. It's also 10 min walk to Lake-side and 20 min. walk to city center. There is a train station across the street. A quiet, clean, stylish hotel on one floor of a historical building with hardwood floors and high ceilings. Right next to university campus with activities (cinema, concerts..) and nice eateries around.
Wi-fi in the room didn't work, I had to use laptop and mobile in small lobby.
Having a Kettle (Water boiler) in the room would be good.

The nice old character of the building and the relatively good price. Clean. Late check-in is possible.
Short curtains allowed for cold air to fall on you while sleeping.
3.6
The place was nice
If you arrive at 10 at the night you can not pay with cards anymore. I found really inconvenient to need to go to a bank to have the cash in the night instead of being able to pay the next morning or pay by card

My room was really big and the ceilings were so high

the staff were very friendly and the hotel was clean
There were no curtains on the room and the blinds didn’t do very much . The noise from breakfast could be heard extremely loudly from our room

bad service and breakfast. we’ve ordered breakfast separately for three days hoping it is good, and after we tried and didn’t like it there was no possibility to cancel
