Cosy but popular country pub. The breakfast was cooked to order and the host was very flexible. We could not fault the quality on either morning.
We dined here on one of the evenings with family and wished we had chosen to eat on both evenings. The food and service were excellent.
The mattress was like sleeping on a cloud. We both slept well.
We would happily stay at the Rose & Crown again.
Parking is slightly challenging as the pub is deservedly popular. Be prepared to leave the car a short walk away but it's worth it.

Everything, food, staff, the place, the surroundings
The single bed was squeaky when turning over.

Richard and the team were excellent, they all went over and beyond to assist us during our stay. Sincere thanks for them all.

A warm welcome with friendly staff. Pub was busy during our pre Christmas break with local trade and there was a nice vibe. The food was very good especially the whitebait which was exceptional, as was breakfast the following morning.
The only criticism would be lack of car park however this can’t be helped in a historic village and we got road parking space fairly easily.

Staff were lovely. Enjoyed a good evening meal and breakfast.
We had the twin bed room - it could have been slightly larger but we were not spending any amount of time in it so that was fine for us. We plan to stay again.

That we had to leave!

The staff where very friendly and welcoming! The food was first class! We really enjoyed it here and will certainly be back!
Massive selection of freebies in the rooms, hot chocolates, bottles of water, biscuits and off course the teas and coffees!
We picked one of the sumner houses to eat in which is a great touch to the place, eating in our own heated mini restaurant, slurping down our wine having a great big giggle!
Breakfast was a full English again so good and free!!
Certainly value for money!!
Gutted we had to leave
All good

Great pub food and lovely atmosphere, with friendly and helpful host and staff. Perfect for 1 night and the location was great. Lovely scenic journey on to our next stop.
Bedroom a bit dated.

Breakfast cooked was excellent. Would have liked some cereal, fruit, yoghurt but understand that landlord keeping costs minimal to provide good deal on rooms.

Breakfast was good
Dinner was expensive (£11 for two pints of beer!), and the "special" was really very poor
No juice, yoghurt or cereal offered at breakfast
Asked for extra pillows but none available!

Really friendly. As good as any premier inn or holiday inn but with a personal touch. lovely breakfast made to order. Not far to pop to Huddersfield
Not a big issue to us but bear in mind you can’t stay out too late at night as they lock up after last orders

Great location beautiful breakfast.
Can't really say there was anything I didn't like.

Apart from the the above mentioned we did have a lovely stay. The room was clean, warm and comfortable.
We did stay for our dinner which was excellent and would highly recommend.
The bed was very comfy and lovely and quiet once the pub had closed at 11pm
The breakfast was great quality and delicious.
The room didn't have any hand soap just a dispenser by the shower, which was very difficult to reach due to the shower screen.
On arrival you are asked to leave your room key at the bar if you go out which we understand but the keys are like a ball and chain literally! A little OTT if you ask me.
There is also no food or drink allowed in the rooms, you are asked to kindly eat in the pub restaurant. You can incur a £25 per person fine if caught doing so.
Breakfast was only served until 9am which left no time for a lie in on the Sunday morning.
Although they served to the general public from 9.30am.
There is also a 11pm curfew which you are pre warned about.
We only stayed the one night so a lot of the above didn't affect our stay but wouldn't want to stay any longer.

It was warm and comfortable-all the staff were very pleasant and accommodating.
It is an old building and one must not expect a faultless modern experience. All the upstairs floors were a little "creaky"
