Our return to La Gioiosa after a gap of six years was wonderful from start to finish. The welcome we received on arrival was exceptional and we were conducted to a very spacious room for three of us. The bathroom was well designed and functional and there was plenty of storage space in the bedroom. The views from the balcony were extraordinary with almost the whole Ligurian coastline spread out in front of you. Beds were comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was truly delightful with so many options: local fresh fruit and plenty of home made items meant that there was something for everyone. The restaurant in the evening provided a small menu, but with exceptional quality, all local produce, superbly cooked and presented. The staff were friendly and informative throughout. A truly excellent four days and the only disappointing thing was the fact we had to leave. This is a truly superb hotel in every respect, in an equally superb location.
The only word of caution, no reflection on the hotel of course, is the path down to the beach. It was fine for us (I'm a 58 year old with two knackered knees) and my daughter sprinted up and down it with no problems. Less mobile individuals would struggle I imagine, as it is quite steep and uneven in places. Some form of transport to the beach would therefore be required. I am sure this could be arranged and indeed some of the other guests clearly drove down to Final Ligure to the beach.

Staff were so kind
Authentic Italian food at breakfast and dinner everything was home made. Even the pasta.
The view was spectacular and room perfect size. Toiletries added, and clothes line on balcony for drying. Shower was so nice. And very very quiet.
I knew it was on a hill but didn't realize that all things accessible were down the hill and going up and down was brutal. We didn't have a car and a cab was 20€ one way. It would have been good to know the actual setting.
I wish there was a coffee machine or kettle in the room as I am an early riser and there was no way to get a coffee/tea before 8. So that bummed me out in the morning. Or a little fridge for storing some water or beer for later in the afternoon.
Wifi was not the best unless you were directly in the room. Although noticed it was like that much of Europe so not really a negative. For me from Canada, sitting on the balcony having a coffee watching the sun come up would have helped make the trip. So I was a little bummed.

The staff and owners are exceptionally friendly people and do make an effort to make your stay pleasant. They farm their own vegetables and fruits in an organic fashion, which are offered all day long. The food is authentic ligurian cuisine, made by a lovely italian "Mama". Yumm! They make great coffee and an amazing hot chocolate. Having private parking in front of the hotel is great.
The Bath room ceiling has mold. The staff was friendly and offered to clean it with chloride every day. But unfortunately inhaling the chloride cleaner is not much better then inhaling mold spores. They promised to renovate this winter. The shower has a low water pressure and the hose is too short. Late in the evening/in the night you can hear quite a lot of noises (mainly furniture being moved after the restaurant service). It would be gread to have felt stickers underneath the furniture, to not wake up tired/sleeping guests.

Great views from the terrace. Good restaurant. Friendly service and clean room. Enough parking spaces for cars.
Somewhat old-fashioned. Route difficult for people without a car. Price -quality ratio a bit expensive overall.

Extremely warm welcome by the owner and his daugther who upgraded us to a bigger room since we had a dog! Beyond the amazing staff, the hotel is very charming and enjoys a beautiful view on the sea. Breakfast was delicious too!
