About this house rental
This wonderful 5 bedroom town house was formerly our family home - so you can rest assured, it's kitted out with everything you would expect from a home.
As an Irish family, we love to host friends and family, the kitchen is the heart of our home and we've had many a dinner party... with professional range double oven, pots and pans galore, sharp knives, all the larder essentials.... you'll be able to cook up a storm in our home.
The house is spacious and bright and celebrates all things original from wooden floor boards to fireplaces to exposed brickwork and victorian tiles. The downstairs is very large with double reception room, WC and large kitchen-dining space opening up onto a landscaped private garden with outdoor seating & weber barbecue.
You can comfortably sit 10 people at the dinner table with a further 10 people seated on the decking. For those wanting a continuous long table, it's possible to bring the kitchen table to the decking in summer time - or we can configure the double reception room to fit a long table - this needs to be requested in advance....
Both reception rooms have been opened up to create one continuous space... the lower space is the tv and chill out area and the upper space has lots of extra seating. We have sonos speakers in the kitchen and living rooms so you can plug in your playlists and relax.
Upstairs on the first floor there are 4 bedrooms including a family bathroom.
The top floor is huge, with large bedroom, en suite and roof terrace, overlooking the park and Alexander Palace.
We supply a FREE continental breakfast for all guests and are happy to top up foods, should you run out. Breakfast includes:
- Selection of cereals
- Tea, coffee, hot chocolate
- Juices
- Fresh milk & bread
- Fruit
- Biscuits
- Butter & jam
The house is located within walking distance of Turnpike Lane station. There's also a convenience store, cafe, restaurant and pub, within a stones throw of our front door.
Alexandra Palace & the Tottenham Hotspur stadium are also within walking distance, as is the high street with supermarkets, shopping mall, cinema complexes and much much more.
The area has a buzzing high street with all the household brands, a shopping mall, two cinema complexes and many restaurants and bars... Green Lanes is famous for Turkish restaurants so prepare for mouth-watering baklava and shish kebabs….
The house backs onto a large park, with an outdoor gym and is also 5 minutes from Lordship park with a lido in summer time and a large playground with climbing frame for kids. You can even feed the ducks at the little lake or grab a coffee in the local café, nestled between the outdoor gym, playground and lake…
Street parking is available, albeit you certainly do not need a car when visiting London. Permits cost £5 per car per day. You are very well connected by public transport – it’s a 6-minute walk to the tube station and then within 15 – 20 minutes, you are at any of London’s hot-spots. Similarly, it’s a 12-minute journey from Tottenham Hale to Stratford where you can shop til you drop or visit the Olympic Stadium. From Turnpike Lane, there is a direct connection to Heathrow, similarly all other airports, City, Stansted, Luton & Gatwick are between a 35 – 60 minute journey.
SHOPPING:
- Most tourists love Wood Green High Street as it's 5 minutes from our house and has all the high street stores including Primark, TK MAXX, River Island & H&M...
- For boutique shopping I recommend Crouch End, either 20 minutes walk or take the 41 bus. This is where all the media type & artists live and there are some fabulous and reasonable shops to find real bargains.
PARKS:
There are many parks around. Behind the house you'll find Russell Par, 5 minutes from the house is Lordship Park, in additional to Bruce Castle Park, Downhills Park and Belmont.
Finsbury Park is also very close and is great for concerts & events. Trent Park, Clissold Park, Hampstead Heath &/or Highgate are also close.

We were a large family in town for a long weekend to attend a sporting event at Tottenham Hotspur stadium. Location was within walking distance to the stadium, grocery store and restaurants. It was close to the tube for easy travel in and out of the city for sighting seeing. The property was perfect to accommodate our large group.

We booked Noel Park for a family of 9 ages 49-3. Finding a home of that size in the city was challenging and expensive so we were thrilled to find Orla's home. Orla was excellent in her communication and in helping us with planning day trips and answering our questions.
Due to COVID we had to cancel last minute and Orla worked with us to rebook (for a fee).
The Good:
The house has plenty of beds for a large family. Orla Provided a generous amount of food for our breakfast (and snacks) for several days. The home had a charming old feel. The bathrooms were clean and updated, ample hot water, and soap and shampoos provided. AC units on the two upper floors were much appreciated during the August heat! The proximity to the Turnpike Lane Tube station was very convenient, even with younger legs. A pram came in handy for our three-year old. The basket full of toys was greatly appreciated and plenty of children's books for bedtime reading.
The Bad:
The neighborhood feels run-down and not well loved. Not many good dine-out options, mostly small take-away places with global cuisine. It is not what I would call "charming" and the walk to the tube station is not appealing. The living room furniture was badly stained, sagging or cat-clawed. The yard and gardens were not tidy upon arrival, we spent our first morning trimming, raking and blowing the leaves that were on the deck and in the flower beds. We visited in the midst of a dry spell and after a week of extreme heat, so we understand that not much survived. But I would expect "tidy" (dead branches trimmed, empty pots stored or refilled with fresh flowers (not mosquitos), broken garden accents removed) and maybe a fresh hanging basket at the entrance as a minimum standard from someone letting their home as a business. Orla did send someone to fix a few small things and pullout back some of the dead plants.
In summary: One could really enjoy themselves here and enjoy this home as a convenient base to travel into the city. And I agree with much of what the other reviewers have to say. But I think a cleaner, better maintained space would have made me feel more comfortable and welcomed.

Great property for a large group with plenty of space to be together or spend a little quite time alone. The outdoor spaces were relaxing and private, a nice reprieve after the hustle and bustle of site seeing in London. Owner was a wonderful host, easy to contact and happy to help with any needs that arose.

We stayed here with our two daughters and their families. We were six adults and four children. It was a great place for us, quiet and comfortable. And we were on just the right Tube line for the sights we wanted to visit.

Wonderful Host and House!
Orla was a marvelous, gracious host for our family of eight vacation. She was available and responded quickly to any questions or requests prior to and during our two week stay. When I mentioned that I was looking forward to tasting English scones, she baked fresh scones and delivered them the next morning with clotted cream - delicious! It was a terrific neighborhood to get the full London experience with a great cafe, pub and stores. Everything we needed daily was within walking distance and the tube and bus stops were just short walks. I would definitely recommend this property.

Lovely house with plenty of room
Orla hosts a beautiful home with plenty of room for 4 adults and 4 children. Orla provided snacks for the morning hours and a special treat of Easter candy for the kiddos. I would def recommend this home for future large and small groups.

London Family Holiday
This is a beautiful, comfortable and clean home as represented in the listing. We found the location of Orla’s property to be in a prime spot for us within walking distance between two family members homes. We also enjoyed the location being a quick walk to Downhills Park (with a lovely café) and Lordship Rec Grounds. There are wonderful restaurants nearby that delivered (with some difficulty with delivery).
Orla is an excellent (and nice) host, so easy to communicate with! This includes her flexibility with our check-in time and timely responses to our most of our needs. We appreciated coffees, teas, delicious holiday treats, shampoos, soaps, simple holiday decorations etc. Orla left for us, making it feel like home.
The bedrooms are cosy and comfortable.
The bathrooms are fine, though the loft shower had low water pressure and the ceiling height was a challenge for our 6’ son. The kitchen is very well equipped with the exception of a dishwasher which I missed in the list of amenities.
Overall, a lovely stay that Orla took care in making comfortable and memorable.

When we first arrived we couldn't believe how beautiful the house was - we were only on a work trip to London but it felt like we were on holiday! Everything was immaculately clean, the beds were extremely comfortable and the garden was a delight. The kitchen is bright and roomy in which I was able to cook lovely produce from the local Turkish shops - a real gem in the heart of Haringey.
Orla was lovely and very easy to communicate with throughout our whole stay, and made us feel more than at home by leaving us breakfast and fresh milk - such a luxury when you arrive late and just need a cuppa!
10/10 - would definitely stay again!

We couldn't have asked for a better place in location for our (extended) family. Orla's place is great - the 5 bedrooms are all very clean and spacious enough. We wanted a place in London where we could spend the whole day and evening out, come back at night, enjoy a drink or two and chat, and still have 10 people not feel cramped. The best part of Orla's place was that it felt very homey - with kids decorations on the walls, enough cutlery, coffee, sugar, etc. and a backyard where you could sit and actually see greenery. Also, last but not least, the location is close to the tube station that's open until past midnight! Couldn't have been better, except that the WiFi was spotty in some of the bedrooms.
