A lovely homestay with a lovely owner!

It’s a beautiful house with a big garden and nice rooms. The bed was comfortable and everything was clean. The owner Lal and his family was very friendly and helped with everything I needed. The included breakfast was a very big and delicious mix of Sri Lankan and Western food. I had dinner here as well and it was honestly the best food I‘ve had in Sri Lanka. All the guests can eat together at a sort of all-you-can-eat buffet. Highly recommend this place!

Es war eine fantastische Zeit im Lal homestay und wir können es nur weiterempfehlen, vielen Dank für Alles!!

Ein wundervolles Haus am Anfang des Ortes, also super leicht zu finden. Das Haus hatte einen großen schönen Garten in dem man in Ruhe die heißen Tage genießen konnte. Lal und seine Frau waren unglaublich freundliche und herzliche Menschen bei denen man sich direkt zuhause gefühlt hat!! Man konnte sie nach allem fragen und sie haben uns sogar essen für die Abreise mitgegeben. Wir sind als eine 2er Mädels Gruppe gereist und haben den Aufenthalt bei lal sehr genossen, würden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen. Das Essen war auch fantastisch und man konnte kleine Ausflüge vom Hostel aus in die Natur unternehmen.

Perfect! Host is super nice and considerate. I got sick on my way to the homestay and they took really good care of me. Lal is always ready to help and the food is incredibly good.

Come in famiglia !

Lal e sua moglie sono due padroni di casa straordinari, ci hanno accolte con il sorriso e un ottimo tè. Ci hanno preparato una cena tipica Sri lankese (la più buona fin ora mangiata in Sri Lanka) ci hanno accontentate preparando anche il sambola di kocci ( sambola di peperoncino piccante difficile da trovare), ed altri prelibatezze. La colazione compresa nel prezzo ci ha sorpresi in quanto super abbondante e varia, c'era veramente di tutto. La struttura pulitissima, camera grande fornita di zanzariere facili da sistemare, bagno spazioso e con acqua calda, inoltre c'è anche un terrazzo esterno che da sul giardino dove potersi godere un po' di meritato riposo ed una birretta Sri lankese dopo la salita di sigiriya ( a 5 minuti di distanza con il tuk tuk). Ci tornerò sicuramente! ☺️

We had the most incredible time here. Lal and Nalani are wonderful hosts, going above and beyond with everything. The food was the best we had in all of Sri Lanka! Lal also arranged a safari for us and drove us to our next destination. Was also great fun to share an Arrack night... Will definitely stay here again if back in SL. Also they have a very cute dog called Mac!

Lal and his wife are so incredibly accommodating and generous - they served us both a delicious evening meal (1 night) and 2 breakfasts where the food just kept coming! Expect big portions here! For dinner, we had the most amazing Sambol, chicken in a sauce and a variety of curries and fried vegetables. They even brought us a lovely lime soda drink and watermelon when we arrived. Lal just wants to be the best host he can be. He kindly picked us up from Dambulla cave temples on his way back from somewhere in his car, and then he even dropped us off in the morning on his scooter at 5am so we could hike the Sigriya rock at sunrise. The location is great - close to the Sigriya rock and about a 10 minute walk into the centre where there are a lot more restaurants than we expected. Very good value for money, was one of our cheapest but kindest stays in our 2 weeks in Sri Lanka.

We had only booked a room with a fan and needed to pay extra for AC, so we were a little hot at night but got used to it.

Lal and Nalani are very welcoming, kind hosts. I felt so well taken care of. Lal gave me advice and recommendations about how to plan my time, helped arrange a jeep safari to Kaudulla National Park, and took me to various locations in the regions on the back of his scooter. Nalani is an exceptional cook — she prepared delicious Sri Lankan breakfasts and dinners. The rooms are spacious and clean. I enjoyed my stay so much that I extended an extra night!

The most welcoming host ever

Lal and his finally were so nice and welcoming. I was a solo traveller and they made me feel like part of the family from the first minute. Also, Lal was always willing to help me with everything I need and drive me to some places. Last but not least, the food is just incredible and you will really get to taste real home made and delicious Sri Lankan food!!

There were little bugs in the toilet. That is because the room and the toilet has not been used for quiet a long time.

Home away from home, Lal and his family are the BEST

A home away from home! Lal and his family were so welcoming and made my stay in Sigiriya very memorable. First of all, the room is super clean and simple yet bright. The food is AMAZING, if you just came here for the food I wouldn’t blame you. They made sure that I tried different food at every meal, so much variety and so full of flavour. They even let me come into the kitchen to watch and learn the recipes when I told them I loved cooking. Lal helped me organised all the activities during my stay including: Kaudulla NP safari, tour of the Sigiriya and Pidurangala rock, ayruvedic massage, cooking class and tour of local village. He even drove me to Anaradhapura and gave me a tour around all the different sites there. All for very reasonable prices. He also took my clothes to the laundry place for me. Overall the best experience I could have hoped for and 100% recommend staying here! Lal is also very happy to organise your travels to other places in Sri Lanka and will definitely make sure you get the best prices if you do!

The host (lal) and his family are the kindest people we met while our travels in Sri Lanka! They provide a very nice, clean and welcoming home And even cook in their kitchen a variety of Sri Lankans most delicious food for breakfast and dinner if requested. Furthermore lal really cares about his guest, he picked us up for free after our sunset hike at the lions rock because it world have been to dangerous to walk and he didn’t want us to pay a tuk tuk. Also did he inform us about the political situation and than drove us all the way to negombo to make sure that we catch our flight! All in all a very pleasant stay, we wish we would have stayed longer ! Can 100% recommend this homestay

The aircon would have cost 800 Rupees extra and the would have charged 600 Rupees per person for breakfast, which is quite expensive.

The hosts were incredible helpful in organizing our transfers to Sigiriya and to Pidurangala for sunrise. He also helped organize our taxi to Ella the next day. The dinner was delicious - highly recommend!

Exceptional hosts, food and experience!!!

Lal and Nalni have been such a great hosts, they helped us with everything we needed: recommendations, transport, local curiosities, etc! We even had the opportunity to learn how to cook Sri Lankan dishes with Nalni!! It has been such a great experience, we really recommend this homestay if you go to Sigiriya!
