Mi estancia en hotel pochote grande

Parte de las ventajas del lugar es el don de gente de las personas que trabajan en el lugar, la comida espectacular, la piscina muy agradable.

Este fue un viaje familiar, con niños y un adulto mayor, parte de los obstáculos que tuvimos fue que el baño el dispensador de jabón no funciona, por lo que tuvimos que recurrir a poner jabón de barra, además, en las habitaciones de abajo se escucha TODO de las habitaciones de arriba, y los visitantes de la parte superior a nuestra habitación tenían una fiesta donde movían muebles, arrastrándolos... eso hasta la media noche, tenían música a alto volumen por lo que conciliar el sueño despuésde un viaje largo fue complicado. También el aire acondicionado de la habitación no estaba en óptimas condiciones, aunque estaba a 17° apenas y enfriaba, no hay Internet en la habitación solo en el restaurante, la tv tenía problemas con la señal.

Just outside of Jaco center, lovely beachfront location, delicious food, clean rooms & facilities.

The food was fresh and delicious, breakfast was generous. Perfect location on the beach front. Lovely pool. Very thankful to be just outside of the very noisy Jaco center, lots of peace and quiet. Friendly and helpful staff.

I wish there was a mini-fridge, otherwise perfect stay.

Not worth the price

The room was a good size. The shower was clean. Air conditioning works ok-ish. The Wi-Fi was not that great. The property has a lovely mature garden. Free (for all) parking.

Very bad value for the price we paid. The beds were very basic, linens and towels were extremely low quality and the bed had a plank of wood as a fake headboard on the wall, and we would constantly bump our heads. It was hard to sleep at night because the curtains were thin and bright street lights were blinding us. I’ll put a pic of how bright the room was at 1am. The hotel markets itself as a family run business, but the atmosphere was Very Unwelcoming. There’s no mini fridge, no fan, no floor mats. I asked for extra bed sheets for the kids and was politely told “sorry no the cupboard is locked” by a woman who’s clearly a manager. They have passive aggressive signs saying if you stain their (already stained) linens you’d get fined. The tv was mounted in the ceiling like in a hostel. There was a guest that freely smoked marijuana in their balcony which was annoying for families with kids. The pics of the pool online is exaggerated, it’s much smaller and it wasn’t always clean. The parking was a MESS, the security guard is useless he lets people park and block the driveway and it’s a huge fiasco trying to get out. Its located on the beach but right outside the gates were campers blocking the way with tents etc. Online the booking said breakfast was included but at check in they were charging an additional USD 12 per person. The room has a spacious patio but it desperately needs a floor mat to wipe your feet, the walk paths are made of gravel and we couldn’t wipe our feet on anything, so we’d unfortunately bring sand and pebbles into the room, I’ll include a pic so you see the gravel walkway. There’s no telephone in the room, and reception is closed after 6pm, so you’re on your own after dark. We had stayed at Crocs resort at our previous trip to Jaco, which is right next door. So this place needs to step up and offer the family run, welcoming atmosphere and a niche experience to compete with Crocs. As it is, it’s a hostel service charging resort rates.

Good rooms and pool, but horrible services in everything else.

The rooms are excellent, clean, big, AC works as intended. The pool was also very well maintained.

Wi-fi only reaches the restaurant and part of the pool area. If you are in the room you get 0 signal. Not acceptable in this age. The room included breakfast but they refused it because I did not choose some checkmark somewhere. Not only was the food not very good but it was expensive and they delivered orders incorrectly, we had to drive out to eat at restaurants which in the long run was better overall, cheaper and much better food. There are about 40 rooms on the site, but the pool has about 10 pool chairs, so at any given time there is no space to chill around the pool that isn't the floor, unless you bring your own. When leaving, the manager added drinks I did not order to my room's tab, I was so upset and tired I didn't want to discuss the topic so I just paid and left. The parking area has no security and there are signs saying that you park here at your own risk, not only that's illegal but horrible service. Were never coming back and wont recommend the place.

It was clean, specious, comfortable beds, cosy, friendly staff, great shower, great pool and pool area. lovely family run business. breakfast was also delicious. if I was to choose a place to stay in Jaco again it would definitely be Hotel Pochote Grande. It’s practically right by the beach xx

Lovely pool area. Friendly, helpful staff. Right on the beach. Warm shower. Chicken rice was great. Breakfast was great. Good coffee.

Cheap burger meat in burgers. Please make some nice ones with ground beef.

Good value for the price

Excellent location, very close to the beach. The room was very clean. it is nothing fancy, but it was enough for what we needed. Nice pool, too. We forgot some things in the room, and they wrote to confirm that they got them and are keeping them for us to pick up.

When we arrived, there was no-one to receive us. Front desk closes at 6 pm, and the guard is supposed to hand out the keys, but he was nowhere to be seen. After waiting for about 10 minutes, and looking around all over, we decided to call the numbers on their website. Finally, one of them answered, and sent the guard over to us. But we were on the verge of a panic attack, having arrived there at around 7:30 pm with noway to check in or access our room

the online description is fair and accurate. clean. quiet. great location. fantastic bar and kitchen staff. but a little tired. and basic.

Lovely pool and garden, beautiful spot at the end of the beach a little bit out of the hustle of Jaco.

The rooms are outdated and because of that very over priced. The owners are nice people but don’t seem to be used to the hospitality business. Asking questions was not something they appreciated and they were hardly around anyways. Also no WiFi availability here even though they say they do have that.

WORST HOTEL IN 10,000 mile radius

Worst experience I may have ever had, start to finish, this was the worst. Tiniest dangerous parkinglot; no signage for reception, the manager was an older man in a tank top and swim trunks, appeared half intoxicated with blood shot eyes and disinterested demeanor, the female staff behind the poolside open bar were loud, rude and barked out orders with raised voices as if we were animals trespassing into the bar area. Obtained keys for the room against ny better judgement and found a disheveled room in dirty condition, water all over the bathroom sink and crumpled shower towel on the floor. THEN discovered theres no wifi and you have to balance yourself towards the pool from the balcony to get it to work. THIS PLACE IS ABHORRENTLY DISGUSTING AND TERRIBLE!! Within 5 minutes we went back down to cancel and the staff raised their voices to my fiance and were extremely rude. I am astonished and have never seen such a terrible display of behavior in a hotel before.
