I had wanted to stay at this hotel high on Mt Blanc for many years. It was worth the wait. The location is as extraordinary as you could ever find anywhere.
Nothing to criticise.

Such a neat location and friendly staff. We were in the family room with unique bunk beds. Our window looked out to an all night rock fall. Loved it.

Lots of atmosphere and mountaineering history sitting in wood-panelled walls. Comfortable rooms with amazing views. Small, but cozy bar and fireplace area as well as upstairs terrace for enjoying after-hike cocktails and solitude once train stops running.
Lots of hikers bring their dogs to this part of the Chamonix valley where they are allowed. Hotel should have a clear policy that they are not welcome into the dining room.

Amazing place to stay. We loved the views. The restaurant was better than we expected- beautifully presented French food.
Lots of new staff who were a little inexperienced!

An historic property and a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the mers de glacé. Staff were lovely and helpful. We loved the preservation of the hotel, the railway... historic blended with the new. Our suite was stunning and our views were astounding. Our food was included and we felt it was lovely...especially the pork terrine and the cheese and charcuterie board. Neve the cat was also pretty beguiling....
Nothing.

The location is exceptional, and once the last train leaves for Chamonix, it's such a peaceful spot.
The views out every window are incredible.
The building is gorgeous.
I contacted the hotel ahead of time and explained what a special trip this was to be for my 10 year old son, as we live in a country with no snow and he has been dreaming about this. I also informed them ahead of time that we are vegetarian.
In spite of this, none of the staff made any effort even so much as to speak to my child. And the meal was a disaster, the options they gave for children were mostly meat and very limited and I was treated as though I was expecting something exceptional, when it had been clearly communicated ahead of time. We tried the fondue but the bread was almost inedible and the cheese was so rich even I couldn't eat more than three bites and I usually love fondue. He went to bed hungry since there is nowhere else to obtain food up there.
There are hotels that are clear about not welcoming children, but this was not the case here. The impression I had was that we were a hassle, though the hotel was pretty empty mid week in January.
As beautiful as the place was, we would not go there again. It was all couples besides us, and I think that would work a lot better.

The spot and the view are stunning. The waiters were very kind and helpful (especially Angelin)
The reception staff were not welcoming. Nobody propose to help carry our luggage neither (no elevator in the hotel).

My second time here. Perfect place to recharge and relax. Stunning mountain view outside the windows. Great French breakfast and Savoie 3 course dinner. You can get a drink from the bar and just relax by the fireplace in the winter. Felt like a dream when you wake up and see the beautiful morning lights behind the mountains outside your window and when you enjoy your breakfast while admiring the views

Incredible hotel and location. Employees very friendly and accommodating.
Wish there was a vegetarian option at dinner other than fondue.

The dorms were very comfortable and spacious. The curtains made you feel like you had a lot of your own privacy and the lamp by the bedside was a nice touch for reading. Stunning scenery with the mountains and beautiful dining areas. The building is also filled with interesting apline history which adds a lot of character.
