Staff were nice and friendly in particular Abdullah was super helpful. Breakfast was amazing. Rooms were traditional but comfortable.
Early checkout meant we couldn't make use of the rest of the day since no facility to change.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are beautiful, and the rooftop restaurant is amazing
3.0
It is in a convenient location
Not so clean, the room service could certainly be better. Icky and smelly.
The location was not the most ideal for those looking for a quiet holiday (it’s not their fault, but it’s important that it’s made clear from the description, so that one knows exactly what’s in store for them)
9.0
location is perfect, it is a small, private hotel, feels like home. the room amenities is perfect
i always make coffee early in the morning, and the kettle is in the shared kitchen not in every room

Great location, rooftop breakfast (Swahili was better than the American style). We had an issue on our last night and the staff immediately rectified it.
There's no lift, which was fine for us, but helpful to know.
1.0
it was a traditional style building. the
staff were friendly and helpful.
The property is not well maintained. The rooms are not clean, ants everywhere and fittings not properly installed or fixed. There was no hot water in the evening. Breakfast is poor.

Beyt Salam is a great house. It was a nice change from staying in Shela as we were right in Lamu. We liked the decoration, the amazing staff (got us a huge jug of water for our room, made us great breakfast, helped us organise a tour of the old town), and the beautiful rooftop.
We definitely recommend this place!

The staff was really kind and supportive, even if they where not on site all of the time. Really nice breakfast.
The bathroom flooded and is quite small. The access to the hotel also gets a lot of puddles and mud.

Some staff were lovely
Was not worth the money, room was dark needed lights on all the time. Did not sleep as noise from outside bad. Air conditioning only worked freezing or not at all. If you dont mind little day light and sleep easy with outside noise and dont need air conditioning this is fine. Would not stay there again.

Situation
I was robbed of 600 shillings, 10%, for paying by card, and the owner was cocky, not wanting to fix it.
Not recomended place.

The rooms were comfortable. The beds were great. The hotel was close to the water front.
The breakfast was the same every morning. In one room the main view was a wall.

clean, mosquito nets, hot shower, ok breakfast. You can organize tours from hotel staff. 30 min walk to the beach, very good restaurant beside the accomodation (Lamu house)
location, even close to the pier, it's impossible to walk freely without someone try to sell you something.

location and a big and comfortable room. Helpful staff.

The breakfast was really filling, comfortable bed, the fan and air conditioning provisions. Hotel is close to most social amenities, restaurants and just at the waterfront making it easy to explore the islands.
The hotel has beautiful views from the rooftop terrace where breakfast is served.
We were offered a bottle of water for each day.
The towels were not changed at all and the WiFi didn't connect from the second day onwards. Room next to ours was playing loud music. We had a remote control but no TV in the room 🙄

1.Nice location directly opposite the airport pier.
2.Very ,very nice staff, always ready to help. Those gents are awesome.
3. Centrally located
1.Breakfast . It was tea, Toasted bread and some fruits for ALL the days I stayed there.
2.Room beddings need to be washed properly after every visit, our pillows had sweat odour.
3. There's a problem of flies in the area, they were all over. Need to find a solution
3. Management needs to check on the people who pee at night at the corridor that leads to the hotel.

The property is a traditional house with one bedroom on the ground floor, two on the first and a large one on the 2 nd floor. Above there is a terrace. On the whole it is a good property though it has some issues
The description on Booking.com is not hugely accurate. The property is no longer on the waterfront as a multi storey new building is being built 1meter from this one. This means the windows of the two lower floors are now facing straight at a block wall!
Having checked with the owner before arriving that it definitely had a sea view and private toilet, we were led to one of the unfortunate rooms which had no sea view and SHARED toilet.
We were offered the room with the private toilet and sea view but more cash was suddenly needed!
We accepted the room which was spacious and just higher than the part built building between the sea and us.
The safe did not work, the basin taps were loose and the shelves in the bathroom were falling off.
Despite asking for the safe to be mended and leaving the room unlocked to allow for this to be done, it never was.
On day two we found dripping water from the ceiling which turned out to be from a fridge freezer above which had been turned off and was defrosting complete with rotten vegetables inside.
The property manager was notable by absence throughput.
A once lovely property , it is unfortunate that it is now being blighted by the new building in front and a palpable lack of on site management.

Great value for money. Lovely rooftop setting for breakfast. Rooms have great character and look.
The Hustle to get us on a boat to airport. We didn't want to get a boat, we were asking if we could leave our luggage with you and take a boat later. We ended up walking around town with full luggage for over an hour as you didn't listen..just ran out calling boatman when we didn't want one yet. Why wouldn't you keep our luggage? Why did manager say there was a public boat to airport then William say there was only private boats?

Breakfast good. View excellent. Concern that adjoining property currently in progress may block view
one of first floor rooms damp and smell. Staircase walls need paint

Great location in Old Lamu Town. Was incredible to have a place to return to with A/C after exploring the island in the heat. Staff was really kind, and super responsive. Had an issue one morning where the power went out, and they came over and got everything fixed in like 10 minutes.

This is a very nice guesthouse with friendly helpful staff. We had a room with shuttered windows on three sides and a balcony. Our view was across the water and in the street below we watched the boats coming and going, people at work with their donkeys, children swimming in the sea. Right next door is a great restaurant. Lamu is buzzing with life without mass tourism. A boat ride to Shela village takes you to a more conventional beachfront holiday. It is lovely there and the food and wine delightful.

location was perfect..everything seemed within reach.

The rooms and the closeness to the beach
There is no real beach close to it

Jasper was really helpful and the breakfast was always ready on time.
The initial place I had booked was under renovation so they moved me to a different place I would have liked this to have been communicated early before I got there.
