We loved fhe Penthouse Matkovic - would absolutely recommend staying there!

The best thing was the location - right in the center of the old town! The Penthouse was amazing - spacious living area and balcony, large bedroom and master bath, fully equipped kitchen and extra half bath made our stay even better!

Getting to the property was difficult and parking even more so.

Fabulous apartment in the most perfect location in Split

Fabulous apartment in the most perfect location, right in the heart of Diocletians Palace overlooking the main square and Bell Tower, where we were treated to a multitude of musical performances and events without even having to leave the terrace - a wedding party, nightly musical renditions from a guy outside the Luxor restaurant, a traditional group dance performance in traditional costume with accompanying band, a daily appearance by the Emperor and his Roman guards, it really was all going on!!! No shortage of restaurants, bars and shops all within the walls. The apartment was spacious, had all amenities we could need( great to be able to do a washing too), comfy bed, great aircon, lovely terrace, and Marina our host was really helpful. She met us at the apartment, lots of useful info, a lovely bottle of wine, beers and water in the fridge which was a nice touch too. Would definitely stay again.

As most have already mentioned, 7 sets of stairs to reach the apartment took a bit of getting used to, but that's the price of having such a great view! And again, a walk in shower would be much better than a jacuzzi bath with handheld shower, , but these are minor issues and wouldn't deter me from staying there again. One small point - the separate 2nd loo had a bad drainage smell, presumably from ancient sewage system, so we had to keep the door shut all the time and we barely used it.

Amazing location and views - no shower

The location is right in the middle of old town. You are literally on top of the square of Saint Domnius Cathedral. The views are simply amazing and worth the price alone. The apartment is comfortable with spacious bedroom.

All though this apartment has amazing views and a great location, there is one major drawback: There is no proper shower in this apartment. For some reason, the owners elected to put in a huge spa bathtub instead of a shower. Not very practical. The bathroom itself is huge, so it is incomprehensible why such a basic essentiel feature is not present in such a great apartment.

Our favorite accommodation of all time!

There is no better location in Split to stay! Overlooking Diocletian’s Palace and experiencing sunrise to sunset, including an aerial view of a mass procession with the archbishop was beyond what we could have imagined!

Lovely stay in a luxury apartment with a gorgeous view!

Wow, what a beautiful apartment with a fabulous view! We loved the restaurant just downstairs which specialized in authentic Croatian food. Everything was just perfect.

Excellent, would thoroughly recommend staying here.

Excellent flat, even better than the pictures. Terrace was lovely and an afternoon sun trap. Couldn’t fault anything about it.

Nothing to do with the flat but being next to the bell tower you have to be prepared for very loud bells ringing at 6am.

The location was amazing, inside the Diocletian’s Castle walls. The terrace overlooks the church tower.

This is a 4th floor apartment, with no elevator, so pack lightly. The church towers start ringing on the hour about 6 or 7 AM. The terrace is over the castle square where there is sometimes live music and crowds so it can be noisy. However, none of these things would deter us from staying here again because we were steps away from everything we wanted to see, and the view from the terrace of the castle square and church tower is amazing from the terrace.

Great apartment in central location with lovely outdoor terrace.

The apartment was a great size with an incredible view from the terrace. It was very clean and the kitchen was well kitted out to self cater if you wanted to. The location was amazing, right in the centre of the old town.

There wasn’t a stand up shower in the apartment just a bath with handheld shower.

very clean, location was in the middle of everything with a great view.

there is no real shower - just a tub with a shower wand. it was weird. Also- 5 flights of stairs every time you go to the apartment was a bit much and wasn’t clear when booking that it would be the case.

The standard of the apartment was higher than my expectations. Specious rooms and bathroom. Quality and moder design. The spectacular view from the balcony for Dujma Cathedral. Just in the heart of Dioclecian Palace. You cannot be closer. Music coming from the square below fulfills the perfecion of the atmosphere.

The best location and view in Split!

Wow, what an amazing view! It was just as good, if not better than the photos and right in the heart of Diocletian’s palace. I don’t think you can have much better location in Split. The apartment itself was very nicely furnished and we particularly enjoyed the jacuzzi bath in the bathroom. The balcony is extremely spacious and was amazing to look out over the heart of Split. We loved it! Very easy handover from transfer to meet the host who showed us around and gave us the keys.

If you can’t manage steps then perhaps not the place for you but perfectly manageable for most people and it is definitely worth it for the view.

Amazing Apartment is Split!

This apartment was so nicely appointed and in the heart of the palace in Split. The patio/terrace had a magnificent view. The gentleman that showed us our apartment carried our bags up the 4 floors which was so nice, even though we only bring one small suitcase each. The location was perfect. We could walk everywhere. And again, the view was amazing!!!!

Great central location. Beautiful views. Perfectly equipped for our stay. Really accommodating hosts who were really helpful regarding parking etc.

One minor negative which we should have anticipated given the central location is the early morning bells but the property is insulated so the noise is limited
