Good staff, good meal and nice room!

Great service with good food and onsen
The room was a bit cold and heater did not function properly. Blanket should be added during cold weather

Well - The food was great - mostly fish - which my wife loved.
This is traditional Japanese room - so you sleep on the floor.
The Staff was nice - but had limited English. They were good at using Google Translate - so there was no issues.
Nothing really.
Our room could sleep 5 - so there were extra Futons - we used 2 each - that helped!

The facilities are exceptional. Staff was very courteous and provided superb service. Four of us stayed comfortably in the room, which had two separate tatami areas as well as two outdoor baths. There are 5 private baths that are first come/first serve and can be used for individuals with tattoos. There are also public baths, but if you have a tattoo, you can not use them. Highly recommend the half board as the food was delicious and worth the trip. If you are coming by JR, take the Mishima Station exit and from there you can take the Izu Railway or a taxi. Taxi will run you about 4200 Yen.

The whole experience was excellent. The food was so delicious, full of local ingredients. The staff were so kind and thoughtful. Really made us feel like home away from home. The hot spring made my skin so smooth, we really enjoyed the private bath facilities.

Breakfast was fine.
I have never been so frustrated with a hotel in Japan like this one. First of all , I had booked 3 rooms, 2 rooms for each couple and a room for a single. Since one of the room was for a single, I booked a smaller room than for the couples. Lo and behold, when we got there, the single was informed that our meal plans were different as well! That was not noted through our reservations. They knew we were a group but did not explain to me the situation before hand. In order to upgrade the meal plan, the person had to pay an extra 90 Canadian dollars. If I would had known there, I would had chosen a bigger room for her since by the time you calculated the upgrade cost, it is only a matter of a few more dollars to have a bigger room. After much discussion using voice translator, the manager agreed to only charge the single CAD 56.00 for the upgrade meal. All was fine, until we checkout and had to drive to the airport. They ended up charging her the upgrade of CAD 56.00 plus an extra of CAD 90 for the dishes. I was really upset, so another 20 minutes trying to straighten out the mess. ( again, thank goodness of voice translator ). Going to a ryokan during a holiday is supposed to be fun and relaxing....it ended up to be super frustrating. So whose fault is it? 1) the difference in meal plans is not noted in Booking.com 2) the confusion at the front desk was unbelievable. 3) I tried calling a Booking.com agent. As nice as she was, she was not able to help out in this situation. For a good 90 minutes, I was trying to solve this dilemma. Really if the listing on Booking.com is better, than all these could have been avoided. It was simply a nasty surprise for all that were involved.
To be fair to the hotel, the food there was delicious, the rooms comfortable and the staff really tried to help. Unfortunately under such circumstances, it really leaves a sour note to our stay.

Staff in very basic English, but their attitude is good enough to remedy. Using google translate is a great help in some points.
The lighting in the corridor / common area can be brighter. The view of the hotel in the morning is far much better.

The onsen were great. The private baths were fun to try, since there were 5 kinds of baths and every bath was in different designs and styles, each with a small garden you can watch from the bath. No reservation required, just first come first serve bases. The public baths were nice, wide and spacious. You can just spend the whole day relaxing at the various onsens.
Nothing specific. Would have been better though if there were few onsens opened during the 9:30 am - 3 pm cleaning hours. As a great fan of onsens, too bad they were all closed on those hours.
