Best staff and breakfast was superb

The location is near the Gregory lake is nice.
The breakfast was ok.
It was our worst night in Sri Lanka. The room was damp and we even had mold on our totally wet bedsheets.
With the staff we couldn’t communicate because they couldn’t speak a word English.
Before the stay we asked the owner through What’s App/ Booking about some activities we could do and he said we can discuss and arrange when we are at the hotel.
He never showed up and when we asked via WhatsApp he just send us a driver without telling us what we’ll visit.
The Tea Factory we were sent to was closed and the driver also couldn’t speak English (not a single word!!).
After that we arranged something else by ourselves.

The owner and his assistant Udaya were both lovely and so helpful. The owner went out of his way to get me vegan breakfast and Udaya showed me around some sights near Nuwara Eliya.

Chandrana, our host was so thoughtful and helpful. He offered us dinner and took good care of every need we have. The location of the property is also nice. The view is amazing.
Rooms were dusty and the carpets were dirty. Rooms overall could use an upgrade of furnishings. Bathroom is really small.

The view was 10/10
Unfortunately everything was pretty disappointing. Started with check in. We were greeted by a nice lady that didn't speak almost any English. This led to a lot of surprises. For example, the bathroom sink only works if you also open the shower. This means you inevitably get wet at inopportune times.
It was frigid in the room, and the bed didn't have a sheet at all (only a blanket that was clearly not washed). We later found out they can't provide heaters to the top rooms due to being a fire hazard (made out of wood). The view was amazing, but the windows weren't properly covered by curtains or even just some paper so people below couldn't see you... oh and the bed was the most uncomfortable I've ever slept in.
There was no hot water in the morning, so couldn't shower (again, it was frigid cold so not willing to take a cold shower).
The breakfast was promising, but since no one properly checked us in we couldn't tell them we're vegetarian and we were served sausages.
I'm shocked by the amount of 10 star reviews I see here, mentioning the great value. These are almost entirely from locals so I can only imagine there's different standards and maybe cheaper pricing for locals. This was one of the pricier stays of our 2 week trip and by far the worst.

Excellent stay. The view from the room was fantastic. The room was damn clean and with great facilities. The owner, Mr. Udaya was very helpful throughout. Chandran, the manager looked us well and served nice breakfast and coffee.

the staff is so welcoming, I loved the way the owner himself welcomed us at the arrival, and self took us for a tour to the near by places, of course for a very reasonable price.
Mr. Udaya is an exceptional person and a host, the food were amazing too… I recommend this place for sure.

It is really nice place to stay. Kind hospitality and very easy access from the city center

We stayed here only for a night. Best part of this place is it is located right next to lake gregory. So as a location very good, loved the hospitality of host Chandran who was very accommodating. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served in the small attic restaurant which has a great view of the the lake. Breakfast and Dinner was excellent, we really enjoyed the delicious authentic Sri Lankan food Chandran prepared and served, price is reasonable. As name suggests, it was eco friendly wooden cabin, didn't notice any single use plastic. The restaurant has a small library for bookworms, and a keyboard for music lovers. An average stay with good food within low budget with Lakeview.
We took the attic room. The size of the room was very small, with beds pushed towards the edge of the slanting roof. Although there were two double beds it was difficult for two of us two fit in with an infant. 3rd family member slept on the other bed. Maybe for couple or solo travellers it would be a good stay. Stairs leading to the attic are so narrow that it needs caution to climb. But rooms on the ground floor seems better. Balcony is for namesake, hardly one person can stand, bathroom washbasin does not have hot water supply, it was difficult for that cold night.
