About this villa rental
Villa Lavanta, Turkish for lavender, is situated in the quiet palm tree lined residential area of Kalamar Bay, one of the more peaceful areas of Kalkan. The villa was built in 2005 by one of Kalkan’s most respected builders and designers, Kemal Tashan, and, when we bought the villa in October 2018, we commissioned the same builder to undertake a substantial refurbishment. This included modernising the pool with Roman steps and sun lounging areas and terraces, two new kitchens, three high quality bathrooms including the master double shower room and a new glass partition on the roof terrace to maximise the stunning views of Kalamar Bay, the mountains, and Mouse and Snake islands. The villa has a key safe on entry and a built in safe to keep your gin out of reach!
Villa Lavanta is a perfect place for family and friends to relax and enjoy the wonders of the Turquoise coast, and with its flexible accommodation Lavanta can comfortably cater for between 6/8 guests.
The ground floor apartment, built using traditional stone is always cool and offers excellent family facilities and direct access to the private pool and chill areas. One double bedroom and lounge/sleeping area with fully equipped kitchen and dining area gives teenagers or friends total independence with WiFi, TV and air conditioning.
The first floor has been totally refurbished to a very high standard with a new shower/wc room, floor to ceiling glass windows in a very spacious lounge and a newly refitted and well equipped kitchen with granite worktops and seating round the island. There is a large fridge/freezer and a water chiller so no need to carry any water bottles to the villa. Off the kitchen, through large glass sliding doors, there is a large dining area for alfresco dining and from here there are beautiful views of the sea and the palm trees for which our road is well-known. There is a further large television on this level.
Two further bedrooms upstairs share a fully renovated master double bathroom with twin rain shower and two wash-hand-basins. Both bedrooms have fitted wardrobes, separate access to balconies and beautiful views of the bay to the islands beyond.
From the second floor you access the roof terrace area with its panoramic views over the bay and mountains to the left and right, ideal for catching rays or sipping a drink whilst watching the sun set. There is a seating area and additional sun beds on this level.
Kalamar Bay Area/ Kalkan Bay
Villa Lavanta is only a few minutes walk from the very best the bay has to offer in beach clubs, restaurants and bars. House Kitchen & Bar, very popular and one of our favourites, is only a 5 minute walk away and Aqua Bistro and Bar, Cafe Vita, the Elixir Hotel Sports Bar, Mimosa and the Brothers restaurant, amongst others, are also just a short walk away. Kalkan Dive Centre is also on your doorstep. A further 15 minute walks takes you to the centre of Kalkan with its beautiful harbour offering many boat trips. The old town with its narrow cobbled streets and boutique shops is a great place to wander about, doing some retail therapy or meeting new friends whilst sampling a beer or cocktail. After sampling dinner in one of the many rooftop restaurants a £3 taxi fare gets you home.
For the more adventurous and those who like a bit of culture, many ancient Lycian ruins dot the surrounding area and are well worth making an effort to see. Hiring a car is simple and inexpensive but not essential as local dolmus bus services run to many popular locations including the most stunning and unspoilt Patara beach. Going a bit more off the beaten track into the mountains to sample traditional Turkish breakfasts or the many trout restaurants is well worth the effort.
Our experienced property manager is on hand to answer any questions and provides a 24/7 emergency call-out service.

This Villa truly is a home from home!
The Villa is perfect, spacious, modern, well laid out, exceptionally clean, well presented, not a single issue with this Villa.
It really is a home from home, has absolutely everything you need to make your stay special.
The views from the balconies and roof are something special, pictures cannot do them justice.
The pool and outside areas are cleaned every morning by Halil, he is a great guy, very friendly but very respectful and keeps the Villa in great condition for you during the stay.
Kemal who we booked through was so easy to deal with and very helful with all our questions before we arrived. He helped with lots of information on transfers and information about the area. I wouldnt hesitate to book through Kemal again.
Location is just a 5/6 minute walk from a good suppermarket.
A 10 minute walk to four or five very good restaurants.
The walk to Kalkan itself is a 25/30 minute walk. Couple decent hills but a safe walk, well lit and paths. The walk also takes you past many restaurants, bars and shops so you really do have ample choice without walking all the way to Kalkan Or for a pitstop.
We had a truly memorable holiday and Kalkan has become one of our favoutite places, we will be back.

Lots to say
The Good- House is nice and in a good location. Pool is nice.
The bad- internet is terrible, almost unusable. The dogs across the street bark all night long. The hot water runs out fast. So cold showers. The downstairs bedroom has no AC, too hot. Towels and linens are in bad shape.
The Ugly- we had a number of issues with the host. The listing stated that the was a mid stay cleaning included. When I sent the request to the host, he said the cost was 90 pounds. Our friend contacted the owner Liz & she said that we didn’t need to pay that. This however made us wary of the agent. Then my niece decided to visit for a few days. I forwarded her passport as required to the agent. We received a message from the owner stating we could not change the number of people once we had reserved and it would be 41 pounds per night for her. Nowhere did it say there would be any extra charge up to 7 people. We worked with VRBO & they agreed with us & said not to pay. The owner tried to take advantage of us. Agent told us after first day of cigarette butts outside on the floor. He asked they be put in the ashtray. I told him we didn’t smoke. Days later he sent us a pic of cigs hidden in socks in the kids room in a drawer. He showed pics in socks and out. The invasion of privacy going through our things is unacceptable, shocking, and scary. We felt violated. Stay away this is bad. Better options in Kalkan. Didn’t feel they were honest.

We had a wonderful week despite needing a dentist and pharmacist. Kemal was really helpful and the villa better than the pictures. We loved the location as a 20 minute walk back from Kalkan and kept us fit all the hills! I would highly recommend it.

Villa Lavanta was perfect in every way and we are in process of planning a repeat visit next year.
Immaculately presented and well equipped Villa .
Very spacious and private.
Pool area beautifully kept , well furnished and in the sun all day .( Although shaded areas available too) .
Roof terrace was possibly a highlight for us - far reaching views to ocean and mountains stunning .
Kalamar bay is lovely quiet area of Kalkan , but with bars, restaurants and supermarket just 5 minutes walk away on the top road. We loved Cafe Vita and The Brothers Restaurant.
Kalkan town 30 minute walk away or £3 taxi.
Kalamar Beach club a ten minute walk away which is well worth a visit .
Would not hesitate to recommend.

Spacious, modern contemporary Villa well located
Homeaway's booking process is simple and informative, the Manager of the property answered all questions quickly and in a helpful and friendly manner so made us comfortable that all would be well on arrival.
I contacted the manager on arrival at the airport to let him know we were on our way and he responded to let us know he would be at the villa and he was there to greet us when our transfer arrived. He took our luggage as there are stairs up to the front door and he showed us around and answered all questions we had, he gave us his direct number in case of any queries and even sent us details about the local area which was really helpful. We had ordered a larger welcome pack than is normally there and it was provided and put away for us and we just had to pay the manager in English pounds what we had agreed prior. As we had a late flight in this made it easier for breakfast the next day, before we went out to explore. The villa itself was impressive on arrival, it is set in a tree lined street and felt very private. It is very spacious and although there was only 2 of us staying it is big enough for the number of occupants stated on the description. The rooms are large and roomy, well decorated and clean. It has a modern contemporary look. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need if you wanted to cook on your holiday. There is a separate apartment that sleeps 2 on the ground floor which was really handy when we were by the pool during the day, it provided respite from the sun, a kitchen for drinks and snacks and it has everything you would need for a stay, we could have lived in this alone.
The pool area was clean, and we were able to be in the sun all day if we wanted to, it also had a lovely seating area to relax in later on after the sun went down. There is a terrace just outside the kitchen to eat your breakfast, relax, have drinks in the evening, which is very secluded and comfortable. There is also a roof top terrace which has great views and is beautiful day or night as there are sun beds and places to sit. There is so much more to the villa than I have space to write please try it for yourself you wont be disappointed. The villa is about 15 minutes walk into Kalkan town and a nice walk in the evening. We usually got a taxi back at 20tl. There are many nice places to eat within a few mins walk of the villa and we tried as many as we could and enjoyed them all. A great relaxing holiday we hope to book again.
