The kitchen is equipped with stainless steel appliances and features an island, with additional bar-chair seating. There is an adjacent powder room and laundry room, complete with washer and dryer.
There are two separate bedrooms on the ground floor, both with private en-suite bathrooms - one is a Queen room and the other, a spacious King Suite, with a mini kitchenette, coffee/tea making supplies and toaster, as well as a separate side entrance.
The top level of Sweetcorn House is devoted entirely to the master King bedroom Suite. This spacious suite features a sitting area, modern bathroom, two private balconies, and a sun deck with views of the Atlantic Ocean.
Sweetcorn House overlooks tropical, landscaped gardens with a private deck and swimming pool, and a casual outdoor dining area. There is a newly added screened in porch to the south of the house. At the guest's option, the pool can be heated for a fee of $300 per week. Beach/pool towels, beach chairs, a beach umbrella, snorkeling equipment and several cooler bags are provided for guests' use.
Other amenities at Sweetcorn House include ductless air conditioning throughout, large, flat-screen SMART TV, Wi-Fi Internet, Bluetooth speaker, travel crib and high chair, and an outdoor gas grill.

This property is part of the distinguished Governor's Harbour Collection of properties and can be rented along with other homes to accommodate larger groups.
The town of Governors Harbour, a three-minute walk down the hill, has a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. Buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from fisherman at the town dock, or visit Haynes Library, which dates from 1897. Governor's Harbour has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, dive shop, and several gift stores.
A stroll downhill from the estate in the other direction leads to French Leave Beach, one of the finest beaches on the island and one of the great beaches of the Caribbean. By foot, it’s about 8 minutes to French Leave, a mile-long crescent of pink sand which is literally deserted most of the time. By golf cart, French Leave Beach is no more than 3 minutes from Sweetcorn House.
The island of Eleuthera is famous for its 100 miles of spectacular, deserted beaches. The snorkeling, diving, and fishing on the island are world class. Boating, surfing, and other water sports are also popular. There is excellent sightseeing as well. Eleuthera has vast caves, cliffs, a bottomless ocean hole, many unique beaches, historic churches and 19th century homes, and small villages to explore.

This property is a special find!
We have done many vacation rentals, and this truly tops them all. We did not want to leave.
Sweet Corn House is located in the village of Governor's Harbour at the top of the hill overlooking the Atlantic on one side and facing the Caribbean on the other.
The house is beautiful, so well-appointed and so well maintained. It has every amenity coupled with comfortable beds and sumptuous living spaces. A lovely screened in porch for morning coffees. A stunning roof top deck with sweeping ocean views for afternoon glasses of wine! This is such a special house. And so close (walking distance) to beaches, restaurants and other amenities. A true home away from home. Property managers are communicative, attentive and top notch. We have already booked for next year! Phenomenal!

The house was perfect for a family of 5. This house was comfortable after a long day at the beach. We cooked almost every day in the well equipped kitchen, slept comfortably, cooled off at the pool after dinner. Location was close to several beaches and restaurants. We highly recommend this house for your next vacation to Eleuthera.

Better than the pictures!
We stayed from June 9 - 16, 2022, and the property is even nicer than the pictures. They really think of every detail, and it is professionally decorated as well. The beds are all comfortable, air conditioning in every room, all appliances, including a professional blender, were in working order. The pool was perfect temperature, not too hot, even in the hot June summer months. You most definitely won't need to heat the pool at least in the summer. The distance to both the beach and town were just right to still give you a lot of privacy. We snorkeled at French Leave Beach, but didn't see a lot of fish. We also went to Cocoimama Beach (also called Receiver's Beach on Google), and that was beautiful. My husband and daughter went to Levy Plant Preserve, which they liked, but said it was rather hot (steamy), like being in 95 degree humid rain forest with the bugs that go along with it. All the restaurants we ate at were very good, but be prepared for food sticker shock both at the restaurants and at the grocery store. My husband and I have been blessed to travel a lot around the world, and we prefer homes or airbnd's, and this is the nicest one we have stayed in, EVER. It is a great value for what you will get in return. Don't pay too much attention to restaurant reviews, we almost didn't go to Tippy's and it was the best dinner we had. Travel with bug spray, you will need it just to walk outdoors everywhere you go, even at the restaurants. It has rained a lot this spring in Eleuthera and the mosquitos and flies are thick, the locals told us even more than normal this year. But the beauty of the island, the water, and this property so make up for it, you won't think much about them at all. We like to explore new places, but if we find ourselves back in Eleuthera, I would most definitely want to stay here again.

A Perfect Getaway
Sweetcorn was the perfect rental! It had everything you could possibly need. The property managers, Joy and Dom, happily and promptly answered any questions we had before arriving. Dom met us when we arrived and went over all of the information about the rental and town. A wonderful gift basket was waiting for us as well! The house came with everything, including plenty of beach towels and beach bags, as well as beach chairs, umbrellas, and floats. We had the perfect vacation and look forward to returning to Eleuthera! I highly recommend Sweetcorn!

Fantastic Stay
This property was everything we hoped it would be and more. We arrived and received a fantastic tour. The kitchen had been stocked with some snacks and drinks. Our family, including older adults with disabilities and toddlers, were all very comfortable. As parents we really appreciated the fence and gate around the pool.. The nearby French Leave beach was outstanding. All in all, we could not have asked for more.

We had a wonderful stay at Sweetcorn. The location was great, close to town and restaurants. The property managers were very responsive. We enjoyed the short drive via golf cart to the beautiful pink sand beach and the kids loved swimming in the pool everyday.

WOW – where to start?! This is an amazing property, in an amazing location with amazing property managers! We are absolutely in love with this place!I’ll start from the beginning. We arrived in Eleuthera under COVID lockdown and curfew restrictions on a Friday afternoon. Frazzled from travel stresses, we got to Sweet Corn House to find Joy and Dom had so kindly thought of everything. Knowing there was a weekend lockdown with no access to food stores or restaurants, Joy had stocked ample provisions for breakfast, lunch and dinner including homemade lasagnas and beer and wine. We literally just had to unpack and unwind. Even with the weekend curfew, we were able to happily chill by the pool, on the wraparound decks and – our favorite – on the rooftop deck off the second floor master suite. Heaven! The house is immaculate and so comfortable. It is beautifully furnished and generously stocked with pretty much anything we could want. Thoughtful little touches abound – shampoo, soap, hand sanitizer, beach bags and more! Such a lovely beach house! There is a little bar area off the bedroom closest to the pool deck where you can replenish a drink and fetch beer without having to traipse through the house. In the pool house we found snorkeling gear, pool floats, beach chairs and beach umbrellas. Everything we needed for either pool lounging or beach lounging. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with greenery all around. And everything is absolutely within walking distance which is awesome! It’s about an 8 minute walk to French Leave Beach which is probably the most beautiful beach we have ever seen. And we were almost always the only ones there. We usually walked to the beach as it’s a lovely, easy walk, and only used the golf cart when we needed to bring beach accoutrements and coolers. The house is also an 8 minute walk to the village of Governor’s Harbour where you have all the amenities you need. Buccaneer’s is a 5-minute walk down the hill and is great for breakfast, lunch and dinner and some traditional Bahamian drinks. We spent a lot of time there, lol.Dom and Joy are the most attentive and accommodating property managers we have ever encountered. They thought of everything and made us feel welcome and cared for. Thank you for making our stay so perfect! We have already booked our next stay. This was truly our most enjoyable vacation rental experience ever!

Sweet Corn Villa was awesome - all the amenities of home that you could ever need in this Bahamian beauty. So many extras provided were greatly appreciated and unexpected - lasagna, a bottle of wine, a few beers and filtered water - made for a great first impression. We had an amazing stay at Sweetcorn House. We couldn't have chosen a more perfect place to decompress from our hectic lives. Every minute was worth the 4600 kms we travelled to get there from Penticton, BC Canada. The hospitality that Kathy and her team provided during our stay was second to none. The house was clean, comfortable and well equipped with all the essentials as well as many extra details. We loved the golf cart and the ease that it afforded us to pack up and spend a relaxing day at the beach. We spent the majority of time at the beach and relaxing at Sweetcorn. It was the perfect refuge at the end of glorious day of sun and sand. We hope to return someday and enjoy the beauty and the warm hospitality of Eleuthera. It is truly a paradise!

Sweet Corn house is a lovely home. We were six adults and it was so nice to have each bedroom with ensuite. House was in a very good location. It was easy to walk into town [going was easy, the hill coming back was a good work out]. The golf cart made it easy to get to the most wonderful beach [French Leave Beach] which was never busy. We also enjoyed Bucaneers, which is a nice little casual restaurant just half way down the hill to town. The management staff and Cathy [the owner] were just wonderful to deal with. They gave us good information about the island and tried to ensure our comfort and deal with any little things that cropped up very quickly. The chairs by the pool need some attention and Cathy says they are getting upgrades soon. There is only one issue we had and that was with the golf cart. The ad states that you can run into town with it and actually this is not the case as they do not allow golf carts in town. It was wonderful however to the beach. The ad needs to be modified. Enjoyed our stay very much.

Perfect! Stay Here!
My extended family rented Sweet Corn House and Yellow House for 2 weeks over the holiday. We had 17 people total, ranging from 18 months to 85 years old, with parents, grown children, and teenagers in between. Three couples and the baby stayed in Sweet Corn; two couples and 5 teenagers/early twenty something kids stayed in Yellow House. The houses are fabulous--well laid out with comfortable spaces to hang out, both inside and out; spacious bedrooms with nice bedding, comfortable mattresses, ensuite baths and individual air conditioning units; a well stocked kitchen; and inviting decor. It's a short walk back and forth between the two properties--both have pools. Governor's Estates is ideally located at the top of the hill--to the west down the hill is an exquisite 3 mile long beach on the Atlantic coast, to the east down the hill is the small town of Governor's Harbour with a cafe/bar, a coffee shop, 2 small grocery stories, a bank, a gas station, and a couple of gift shops. Kathy and Bob are gracious hosts. They welcomed us with dinner and wine the first night, let us harvest greens from their garden, and provided insider tips on where to eat, shop, and hang out on the island. Matt, the rental agent, made the rental arrangements and travel planning effortless. We met wonderful people, enjoyed a snorkeling trip off Harbour Island, cliff jumped (even my 80 year old mother) off the rocks at Cupid's Cay, drove south to Lighthouse Beach and the blue hole, walked the Leon Levy nature preserve (just down the street), partied at the Friday night fish fry, queued up to make sure we were able to get freshly baked break and newly harvested produce from the Island Farm (a must), dined at Tippy's, Bacchus Fine Foods, and 1648; and frequented the Buccaneer Club for breakfast, lunch and dinner multiple times. It was the perfect blend--all the comforts of home in a beautiful natural paradise. Couldn't have imagined anything better.

Perfect getaway
We had the most wonderful time. I stayed here with my mom, cousin and friend from college. It is spacious and had plenty of room for all four of us, could have fit two more comfortably! Kathy, who owns the house, is the ultimate host. She had a lasagna, a bottle of wine and beer ready for us on our arrival. She answered all of our questions. She has a house phone and a cell phone available for use. The house is well stocked with books, puzzles and wonderful linens and kitchen supplies. The location is ideal, easy walk to the most beautiful beach and down to the small town. The locals are incredibly friendly. It was an absolutely phenomenal stay and I can't wait to go back. We will always stay in one of Kathy's houses.

Lovely House and fantastic location
Sweet Corn house was my first visit to the Bahamas and could not have been improved. The house lives up the to photos shown but there are lots of extras that made the stay special. The owner was really welcoming and provided support by telephone whenever needed. They even provided a mobile phone to use incase of any issues when travelling around the island which was a great thing to do when you consider that some of the beaches are quite remote. The beach nearby is walkable as well as drivable and we never saw a single person on it in the week we went. We visited at the end of July and were a bit concerned about the possible rainy weather but should never have worried. It was sunny every day and it did rain on a few occasions but passed quickly and was a break from the heat and seemed to clear the air. The pool area was great and looked after every day by a lovely local person who also did the garden. The island is very safe and the local people very lovely. Highlights were the numerous beaches with the most amazing colour sea within easy reach of the house, and the snorkelling. The process was simple from booking on the website to direct contact with arrival instructions from the owner via email. I would highly recommend the property and it met all expectations.

Beautiful, comfortable, great location
We had a great stay at the Sweetcorn house, and would recommend renting it without reservation. Pictures and the listing of amenities accurately represent existing conditions. It is clean, bright, comfortable, spacious, modern, nicely decorated, and the location is great. We were able to walk to the beach and everything in Town--- a couple restaurants, gift shops, the Library, supermarkets, Friday night Fish Fry. The house is located at the top of a long hill; so walking up and down takes a little getting used to; but it is nice not to have to drive everywhere. There is an open kitchen/dining/living area, two bedrooms on the ground level, and the master bedroom is located on the upper level.
This being our first time to Eluthera, we found that staying in Governor's Harbor was perfect. Centrally located, Governor's Harbor has the most amenities and understated "quaintness" that the other towns on the island lack.
I never met Bob, but Kathy, the Owner, was great! She is especially knowledgeable about the island and town, and the function of house utilities. She had lasagna, a bottle of wine, and a couple beers ready for us upon arrival---- a super nice gesture considering by the time our flight arrived most of the stores in town were closed for the night/evening. The lasagna was delicious.
Tips:
1) if you love to cook, bring a knife sharpener or your own set of knives. As with most rental properties, the knives are very dull. Otherwise, the kitchen is very well equipped. The only item we found to be missing was a cheese grater.
2) All bathrooms have large walk-in showers, but the showers do not have benches, making it difficult to shave. This is my only minor irritation with the house, which was fixed by putting a plastic chair in the shower.
3) The house is good for traveling with children-- our 12 year old loved the bedroom by the pool and having her own private bathroom. We traveled with our 9 month old baby--- who had a great time taking baths in the kitchen sink! Be aware that there are no soaking tubs if you have small children who are accustomed to baths. There were 2 pack-n-plays; one with an actual mattress, that made for a comfortable bed for the baby. There was also a high chair that worked nicely.
3) Purchase this book, and the map to go with it: The Beach Book; Eleuthera Bahamas Edition, by Bret Sigillo and Gunnar Ek. With this book we were able to go to 8 different beaches over our 10 night stay.

always enjoy staying here. I have been coming to Gov Harbour for years now. would love to eventually find my own lttle patch of ground in the areas. Got to experience the clinic system this time due to a medical occurance with one in our party. Very interesting. People are very friendly and it was perfect for our family of 4. My dad is slighty disabled so the one level of sweet corn was perfect. I appreciate Kathy Coleman the owner being so flexible.

Wonderful location and house
My wife and I absolutely enjoyed our stay at Sweet Corn House. We were thrilled with the nearness to French Leave beach and to the town of Governors Harbour - both easily walk-able from the house. The house (and others near it) are well-designed and well-built...the grounds are beautiful as well. Kathy was a great host and very welcoming. During our stay, we explored all we could on Eleuthera, but really enjoyed coming "home" to Governors Harbour and Sweet Corn House. We would highly recommend staying at any of the properties that Kathy and Bob own as well as working with the good folks at Eleuthera Vacation Rentals who made the booking process easy and followed up during and after the trip. Without question, we would come back to stay at Sweet Corn House again.

Great House
We really enjoyed our time in Sweet Corn House, even though the weather wasn't quite what we had expected some of the time, thanks to "el nino"! The house is light and spacious and comfortable to live in, and there are all the necessary facilities there for cook etc. It was sparkling clean when we arrived and looked most welcoming. Our hosts Bob and Kathy Colman could not have been kinder or more helpful and they made a real difference to our comfort and ease of settling in especially at the start of our stay. We enjoyed the beautiful Eleuthera beaches, and the Beach Bars for lunch or a drink. The house is well positioned in Governor's Harbour and this enabled us to tour the whole Island with ease. I would not hesitate to recommend the property to others. I would also say that the booking through Eleuthera Vacation Rentals was made very simple, and the staff there were very helpful at all times. All in all, a well run affair.

My family of 5 (kids 12-19) stayed here for 6 days over Thanksgiving. Our 3rd trip to Eleuthera, first at Sweet Corn. We were extremely pleased with the location as we love the Gov Harb area. The house is extremely well decorated and very homey. Kathy is an elegant hostess who greeted us upon arrival with her famous lasagna, wine, and Kaliks.(beer) For those concerned for privacy, Kathy lives nearby and is extremely respectful of your time at her home, although she is an excellent resource for info on the island. She gave us a GREAT suggestion for a lunch spot which we would have never found on our own. (Wild Orchid in Rock Sound) The beds were very comfortable and the interior of the house is very inviting to simply, hang out. WiFi is great, just ask my kids! The pool area is ideal for lounging and the home comes with all of the beach gear (chairs etc) you will need. You would make a good choice by renting this home. Matt and Tara from Eleuthera Vacation Rentals are extreme professionals and are available to you before, during, and after your trip. On our next trip, we will be renting again through Matt and Tara. We have no reason to look to anyone else. Missing the island already....

The detail to the decor provides you with amazing ambiance As the owner Kathy lives close by she checks in on you now and again and gives you great advice about the Island. The kitchen is well equip with any utensil you could possibly need. The pool was well kept and had plenty of sun loungers etc they also provide you with things to take to the ocean which is at the bottom of the road. We only once saw someone once the beach apart from our-self. The close by restaurants are amazing The Beach House was a Favorite which has live music on a Thursday night , the Buccaneer was great for lunch. on arrival we found wine beer and lasagna which meant we could just chill and enjoy the house. We used the barbecue a few nights which is another great option. Of course we have to mention the dog Joe Luis who was so sweet and added fun to our days. I would recommend this place to anyone and hope that I can return soon .There were six of us and we all had enough space to chill from each other Thank you Kathy from the bottom of my heart

Our family spent a week at Sweet Corn house- my husband and I, my son (2) and my mother in law. The house is spread out and worked perfectly for all of us. I was particularly impressed with how well equipped the house was for a Rental property. Absolutely the most well stocked house we have stayed in. Although our weather was unfortunately poor, we enjoyed the pool and beach to the full extent possible. Kathy has a plethora of pool and beach toys, and best of all, the pool is 2 feet in the shallow end allowing my son to walk around freely in the pool. His laughter is something I will always remember. Staff was present bright and early every morning to clean the pool- which was a wonderful surprise.
The house also has a private bath for every room- which was a nice plus for us with my mother in law.
I would not hesitate to return, and I recommend this house without hesitation. If you are on the fence about condo versus house, as I was, I am glad I went with the house because my son had plenty of room to play. Kathy has two pack n plays, with a mattress and a high chair. We were able to grill chicken wings, grouper and burgers at the house and relax with some wine and kalik.
French Leave beach is gorgeous very close to the house. Although you can walk, it is downhill and if you have a cooler or chairs it's better to just take a minute drive.
Finally, take a word of advice and bring some serious bug spray and baby oil. I was warned about no seeums in the carribean and I did not take it seriously enough resulting in lots of itching. 😊 the deep woods off is nice.
Thanks to Kathy and her staff for a great experience.

We stayed here for just over a week, and the property exceeded our expectations. The home was spacious enough for our party of four adults and two small children but could also easily accommodate three couples. The master suite is all that is on the second floor so was perfect for my husband and I and our 19 month old who still naps at least once a day. The home was beautiful and very well built and cared for. When we were downstairs with the tv on or talking you could not hear this upstairs. My four year old and 19 month old loved the pool, as one end is very shallow and she could stand in it and the water came to her waist. The home was very well equipped, and had a stocked pantry, extra things left behind from previous guests such as extra bug spray, sunscreen/ sun tan lotion, and Kathy provided a cell phone for us to use on the island for emergencies which made us feel more secure about exploring the island. There is also a land line which was helpful to make dinner reservations at the local restaurants or to comfirm the grocery store hours. Kathy was a fabulous host and was so helpful before and during our stay, and even followed up after our trip was over. Bob and Kathy live next door and were both so friendly, as was everyone we encountered on this wonderful island. We were able to explore the ocean hole, the glass window bridge, made our way as far north as the harbour where the ferry goes to Spanish wells and as far south as the road to lighthouse beach. However you need a four by four to get to lighthouse beach. The beach that is walking distance from the house is the best beach in our opinion, we explored the old club med property that was destroyed in the 1999 hurricane, so I guess the beach is the old club med beach or is now called french leave. The sand was indescribable, as it was so soft and smooth and had pink strands running through it, the water was clear to the bottom and was shallow for quite a ways out so our kids loved it. We usually drove as the is a bit of parking at the end of the road and the most people we saw on this beach was about 6 other people. We took beach chairs from the house however discovered that there were six white plastic lounge chairs at this beach, which at least four were available each time we went. Not sure who put them there but we enjoyed them! We ate at Tippy's, purple orchid, 1968, Friday night fish fry and Pascals at sky beach club which all had nice views of the water.

My husband, two young children (9 months old and 2 year old) and I stayed at Sweet Corn House for one week. We feel that we are lucky to have picked this house. The island doesn't have much going on (which we like), but this house is within walking distance of the things you would want to be close to: coffee shop, restaurant (Buccaneer Club), grocery store (next to the Shell gas station), bank. Also wonderful was the fact that we could walk to French Leave beach from the house- one of the nicest beaches on the island!
Beyond location, this house is fully equipped with anything you could possibly need during your vacation and more. The bedrooms and bathrooms are very well designed.
Kathy is a great host. She lent us a baby cot and high chair for the baby. We felt right at home.
We would certainly come back to stay at Sweet Corn House again. Thank you!
