About this house rental
This home is family owned and operated. The home is located at the top of a well-maintained street in the gold mountain town of Lead, SD. It is close to the Sanford Underground Research Facility, formally the Homestake Gold Mine. It is a cute three Bedroom, one bathroom home. The front bedroom has a queen bed, middle bedroom has a full bed, and the back bedroom has a bunk bed with twin mattresses.
The home has easy access from the highway. Guests have access to 1/2 of the garage. For size reference, we have a Subaru Tribeca that fits fine, but our Jeep Grand Cherokee is too tall.
Perfect place to come back to after exploring the Black Hills. Only 3 miles to Deadwood and 4 miles to Terry Peak Ski Area. Spearfish and Sturgis are both less than 20 miles away. Only 40-50 miles to Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and the communities of the Southern Hills. Only 80 miles to Devil's Tower National Monument.
Close to several trailheads of the Mickelson Trail.
*Mill Street is steep, but compared to others in Lead it is not too bad. It is wide and well maintained.
***The city recently passed an ordinance that prohibits trailer parking on some streets. They have classified Mill as one of those streets. We are planning on putting a parking pad in a portion of the yard to comply with that ordinance. If we don't have it completed by the time you arrive and you have a trailer, we are okay with trailer being parked in the yard.
*We are working on updating the outside of the home. We have been scraping paint and repainting the trim in between rentals and our kid's activities and weather.

House was perfect for what we wanted and needed. Only problem was storing a 24 ft enclosed trailer. We pulled across in front of housr amd made it work. We will for sure reach out again if we come to Lead again.

Host was incredible! Very responsive and friendly. The house was stocked beyond expectations. Owner obviously uses the property from time to time, so it was extremely clean, comfortable, and maintained. Having garage space was nice. There was also additional adjecentto the house.

We found the home to be clean, comfortable and with many amenities. The mule deer came to visit us daily, that was a special treat , especially the fawns.

Our family from Texas met up with my good friend. We enjoyed the cute little town of Lead. The house was so cute, clean, stocked, and kid friendly. My daughter loved the huge Lego collection. The neighborhood was quiet with a great location just up the hill from the nice city park. The only thing was two of the bedrooms did not have a window unit/AC, only fans, and were pretty warm to sleep. My friend slept on the couch with the AC in the living room. Otherwise it was great!

Cental located for our side by sides trios in and out but if pulling a trailer like we were and the 2nd couple was as well not a good location for parking. Otherwise house was fine.

It was a cute and comfortable stay. Only downfall the business and their loud trucks in the morning.

We stayed in Lead for the month of February 2024. Both Sarah and Stephen were very friendly and responded very quickly. We did not need to ask for much because the house was ready to go when we arrived. We skied at Terry Peak about 4 times a week. It was a little over a ten minute drive. The garage was great for storing our gear. We could enter the house from the garage without going outside. We also liked being right in town. We attended the Lead Winterfest to watch fireworks over the open pit. We went to Dakota Shivers Brewery frequently. Made us feel
like locals. We were also very close to Deadwood where we attended the Mardi Gras. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

This property had everything to offer. Super nice, clean and gave us the sense of home. It was located in a different area, but very unique. When we do another
adventure we will try and acquire this VRBO again. VERY NICE!

Property was nicely appointed. Main access road under construction but not hard to get to with good directions. Across the road is a research facility which does have quite a lot of comings and goings, including semi-trucks. Leads is very quiet but very near Deadwood and other destinations.

Nice place that worked well for us. Probably a quarter mile from town, maybe 2.5 miles from deadwood. Close to everything without the expensive price. Spent time in Spearfish as well. The home was clean, well stocked and convenient.

Everything was pretty amazing. However,
we chose to stay in during the evenings usually and found the living room furniture not as user friendly as we all liked. It was beautiful and we loved the decor but not comfortable for the most part. Would we stay here again? Absolutely!! Thank you for an amazing stay. What a perfect location!

Three of us visited the Black Hills for a short getaway this summer. The house was exactly what we needed. Clean with space for each of us, a nice place to sit outside and enjoy the view and weather, and a good location for visiting the different attractions and scenic drives. The house is at the top of the hill so it's pretty quiet and there isn't much traffic. The host is very responsive and helpful.
Bonus: If you are there on the 4th of July like we were, you have the perfect view of the fireworks put on by the city of Lead. They were fantastic and all we had to do was step outside the door to watch.

We had a great family vacation here! The house was very clean & comfortable. The beds were great! The location ended up being perfectly centered between all the days trips we took. (Devils Tower, Badlands, Custer, Sturgis) Another big highlight of the house was seeing all the deer in the neighborhood. They would graze just a few feet away from us! Very cool to see!

Clean, as expected per description, well stocked, but limited parking with 24' trailer and truck. Did learn from local police you cannot unhook trailer from vehicle on street. Elevated toilet would benefit seniors and disabled with bad knees.

This home was very clean. Had all items needed for our stay. Bedrooms were roomy and beds were comfortable. Lead is a great town to visit! And Sarah was quick to respond to any questions-Thank you!

This was perfect for our family of 5. Our younger 2 had bunk beds in their own room, our teen had his own rom with full size bed & we had a queen bed in our room. Even a garage below we could use on snow night, (our Acadia just fit inside). We made most of our dinners in the kitchen that had all of the tools & utensils we needed.
This is a great central location to everywhere we wanted to visit. Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, Jewel Cave & right up the hill from Sanford Lab. My favorite place is Devil’s Tower, the furthest at about an 80 minute drive. We hope to be able to visit again.

Overall a great place! It was very clean and tidy. The beds could be a bit more comfy, and they squeaked, but hey, we have a temper pedic so we're kind of spoiled. The 3 year old loved the bunk beds. Location is great! We'll stay here again for sure

Spent 6 days with adult daughter fly fishing. Property was centrally located to most of the trout streams. House was clean and well stocked. One suggestion is to make the front porch accessible from within the house. Contact was very prompt in responding to email questions. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

We loved staying at this property in Lead. It was just the right space for our family of 5. The only thing we weren’t prepared for was not having central Air conditioning in July. Not a big problem, just unexpected.

This house was perfect for our family to explore the surrounding areas! It was so relaxing to come back to the house after a long day of driving and walking. We found the house well stocked and very clean. Sarah's directions were great and easy to follow. We didn't use it, but the bunk bed room was so cute and perfect for younger kids. (My son enjoyed having a queen bed to himself.). It was very enjoyable stay and I would definitely stay there again!
