About this apartment rental
We hold an official Portuguese tourist license 6431/AL. Covid-19 Contingency plan in place to inform guests what measures we have taken to help keep you safe including enhanced cleaning. The apartment is situated at the Western edge of the unspoilt fishing village of Santa Luzia and a short drive to the historical and beautiful town of Tavira. This prime location is peaceful and very close to one of the best beaches on the Eastern Algarve. From the apartment it is a short walk to the village centre with its wonderful seafood restaurants that line the waters edge. The first floor apartment was built in 2006 and has a contemporary feel. The kitchen and lounge have floor to ceiling windows and shutters that run across the entire front of the apartment. These open directly on to a good sized private balcony, with uninterrupted views of the countryside and sea waters of the Ria Formosa, a nature reserve that is a haven for wildlife. In the evening you can watch the most glorious sunsets over the mountains. The apartment is only 8km from Junction 16 of the A22 motorway, 35km from Faro and within 10km of excellent golf courses.
Local amenities: The water shoot park in Loule is only 35min away and is great fun, You can also Swim with the Dolphins at Zoomarine!
We have a number of excellent markets nearby (a detailed list will be in the apartment) where you can pick up some real bargains. There is an interesting car-boot near the beach of Fuzeta where you will find some unusual items. Ayamonte, 20 min (the Spanish border) town has a similar market every Saturday.
Tourist resort towns with entertainment, bars, restaurants and casinos only a 10 - 40 minute drive away (depending which town you would like to visit). Finally, for those of you who do not want to just stay on the beach and want to see more of the original Algarve then a circular drive through Moncarapacho, Estói, Olhão and Tavira is well worth doing, with the A22 link this makes a good half day visit.
Golf: Not only has the Algarve the best golfing climate in Europe it also has some of the best courses and facilities.
To the West, Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo courses are within 30 min of the Apartment and Vilamoura a further 15 min further on.
Benamor, Quinta de Cima and the Quinta de Ria are within 10 minutes and Castro Marim a further 15 minutes.
We have adult bicycles and one child's bike available for use free of charge. Guests are required to mend any punctures or any minor repairs needed as a result of using them.

What an amazing way to spend two weeks in this lovely little sanctuary. We thoroughly enjoyed waking up to a beautiful field filled with birds and rabbits alongside a pretty river and the ocean in the distance. We loved watching people and their dogs walk by all times of the day and would often chat with them. The apartment is equipped perfectly with everything we need to relax and make a meal. We ate most of our meals outside on the balcony! Having a washing machine was so great! It was a treat to have a dishwasher too. It was fun to try some restaurants right in Santa Luzia as well as biking and walking into Tavira for restaurants as well. Having the bikes was fabulous and helpful. We made it all of the way to Cabanas one day. We enjoyed our morning walks to Barril beach to have coffee at the café that just opened for the season.
After a busy day of exploring it was always nice to come home to this little cozy apartment and watch the sunset while sipping wine on the balcony.

My wife and myself had a lovely week in this apartment which is situated on the edge of a small village called Santa Luzia. The apartment was immaculate and had everything needed for a self catering holiday. We had no one in any of the surrounding apartments during our stay and so it was particularly quiet and peaceful. The locality is more of a Portugese lifestyle and so if you want to eat out every night do not expect lots of different styles of cuisine on your doorstep. These can however be found in the nearby city of Tavira. The nearby Barril beach is beautiful if beaches are your thing. We would definately stay here again in the future. Thank you for a lovely week in your apartment Sally.

We had a brilliant holiday in Sally’s apartment. The location is perfect - very close to the restaurants and shops of Santa Luzia and very convenient for catching the ferry to the beach. The spotlessly clean apartment has everything you could want in terms of equipment and facilities, while the view from the balcony is just wonderful. We spent quite a long time there every evening listening to the birds. Sally is an excellent host: communication was easy and extremely helpful. We hope to go back next year!

Communication with the owner was excellent, Sally was extremely helpful and her apartment was a lovely comfortable family holiday home with everything you need. Beaches nearby were fabulous and easily accessible, as was Tavira which is a 30 min walk but Sally has bikes available to borrow which is a bonus! We do not drive and found the public transport rather hit & miss, and almost non existent at weekends, but if you plan carefully there is a bus stop on the waterfront which goes to Tavira and the train station. The only problem we had was a very noisy owner neighbour which was unpleasant for us and is why I marked the neighborhood rating down to only 3 stars.

weekje Algarve

Modern Apartment at Santa Luzia, Eastern Algarve
This is a modern, bright apartment, very tastefully furnished and colourfully decorated. The kitchen is fully equipped and all appliances are easy to operate. The large terraced balcony which overlooks the Rio Formosa catches the afternoon sunshine and is a perfect place for those who enjoy sunbathing and peace and quiet. Around and about there are many interesting places to visit, we particularly enjoyed all of the local markets, the churches and a ferry trip over the river at Villa Real de St. Antonio to Ayamonte in Spain. We were pleasantly surprised to find parking outside the apartment was plentiful and also free. The weather for our early November visit was pleasantly warm and a welcome change to a wet and dull UK Autumn. We would recommend this holiday property to anyone, it is ideally situated to explore the Algarve.

A too-short week in paradise!
This roomy apartment was just perfect for our too-short stay in Santa Luzia! The village is charming and the apartment is well-equipped and so pleasant that I could have stayed for another week. The owner, Sally, has decorated the apartment with class. For part of our stay, our former exchange student from Latvia joined us with her 5 year old son, and we were delighted to see that the apartment comes with a great set of toys! The balcony was so relaxing. A breeze wafted through the apartment, and we couldn't have been happier! The location is perfect, we even drove to Seville, Spain for a delightful day! All the cafes in Santa Luzia serve great food and the people in the village were very friendly! Thanks, Sally, for making our last week in the Algarve totally amazing!

Superb apartment
My wife and I stayed in Sally's apartment from mid Septemper to start November.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The apartment had anything we needed during our time there.
The terrasse was the most important place in apartment. Big glassdoors to open, and including terrasse. Here we spent most of time when we not was at the beach, in Tavira or out watching birds in the salinas.
It was easy to communicate with Sally in front of our stay, and we also had contact once after some weeks.
All in all, this was a fantastic place to stay for 6 weeks.

Apartment with great views
Our stay in the apartment was most enjoyable. It was a home from home experience for us. We found it spacious with every necessity catered for.
The apartment is very bright and well laid out and is situated at the edge of this small town with terrific views across meadows, river and over towards the sea. Our usage of the balcony enhanced our stay as there was such a lot to see from that vantage point. Namely hoopoes, storks, rabbits, egrets, and owls. And generally relaxing as we watched the world go by.
Although it is on the edge of town it is a very quick, level walk to the supermarket, restaurants and bus stop.
The owner has very kindly supplied a number of dvd's in case of any possible poor weather (very unlikely). Also many paperback books and a radio.
The only downside, maybe an oversight, was the fact that during our two weeks stay we did not have a change of bedding or towels. We always had a plentiful supply of hot water. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you could possibly need.
We would recommend the apartment unreservedly. The area is quite unspoilt and anyone looking for a stay in a very authentic Portuguese
location with an extremely comfortable base then this is the place for you.

cosy, comfortable well appointed apartment close to all restaurants and ammenites.
We found Sally to be most helpful and kind, nothing was to much bother for her.We spent a lot of time on the terrace watching the bird life. It was an easy and pleasant walk to praie del rey where we caught the little train to the beach .
The food in Santa Luzia was amongst the best we have tasted . Casa do polvo tasquna and A casa on the riverside being the best.
Many thanks for all your help Sally! We had a wonderful time.

Excellent apartment in a great location
Very neat well appointed apartment ideal for a lovely quiet and relaxing holiday. The apartment has all you need including really effective aircon, and nice thoughtful touches like an iPad for tv and Internet, a selection of DVDs and books and the use of bikes. Whilst on the edge of the village it's perfect for both the excellent nearby beaches and the restaurants of Santa Luzia. In fact we enjoyed our stay so much we have already booked for 2017!

Excellent apartment on the edge of friendly village with great unspoilt views from balcony
Enjoyed 10day break in April. Weather was generally good not too hot. The apartment was excellent, very well equipped and comfortable double bed.
The large balcony gave unspoilt views over the countryside and over the river to the isle of Tavira.
The Barril beach was in easy walking distance over the nearby bridge.
Binoculars are a must if you are interested in birdlife as many species can be seen from the balcony and on the nearby salt lagoons.

Pure relaxation
A wonderful modern apartment with everything you would need. The balcony is a lovely place to sit with views over the countryside and the sea and fantastic for you twitchers out there. A stunning beach is within walking / cycling distance and can be accessed by cute little train at Pedras Del Rei or by water taxi from the centre of the village [prepare for an eyeful from the occasional naked bathers]. The village is a real fishing village and has lots of really good restaurants which are quality and are inexpensive. We have tried most of them but this year mostly used Alcatraz and would highly recommend it. The people are friendly and helpful but do try a few words of Portuguese and you will be richly rewarded. We made good use of the bikes to get into Tavira [good bike lane between SL and Tavira] and you can take bikes of the train which we did to go to Vila Real where you can take the little Ferry to Ayamonte in Spain which is a terrific day trip. Tavira is a lovely eighteenth century town with lovely squares, gardens and churches and you must go there. There are some nice little bars / restaurants down by the river on the eastern bank and we enjoyed a few cool beers looking up towards the Roman Bridge. To sum up, terrific apartment, location, beach, food and drink, inexpensive and really peaceful. Enjoy!
