The house was great! Very clean, modern, cozy, with all the comforts of home. We would definitely book again.
A few notes:
- I sent several messages to the property manager PRIOR to booking to request details about the property and never received a response. No problems communicating AFTER booking.
-As others have commented in reviews, the driveway might be difficult for some. It requires backing up a narrow, fairly steep, gravel/rock hill.
-For those looking for a quiet getaway: The house next door is under construction. Fortunately there was no construction noise during our stay. However, I was told there is no way for the owner to know if and when construction would occur so he could notify potential guests. As a property owner I understand the issue, but as a renter/guest I would want to be made aware of the possibility.

The house was lovely nestled in the woods and close to town.

The house was pleasant to stay in. It was very quiet, and peaceful. We had 2 couples and each couple had a baby under the age of 1. Both babies stayed in the room with their parents so we didn’t use the 3rd bedroom but we never heard each other at night or heard the other couple’s baby crying since the floor in between us really helped to keep the noise levels down. All in all, this was a great stay with lots of good outdoor space.

This was our second stay here and we can't wait to stay again

Overall, we had a FANTASTIC trip! We came in for a short ski vacation. Only problem was that the driveway became impossible to access via vehicle once the snow started. Even in a truck with 4wheel drive and winter tires, we couldn’t make it back in and had to park on the main street. Which meant we had to carry all of our bags down the two driveways through a foot of snow upon our departure. Property management team does not salt or clear the driveway and there are no snow shovels available. Only tool was a broom we found in a closet that we used to clear the snow from the porch, stairs and our vehicle. The mountain received 19 inches of snow in 24 hours during our stay. Even with chains on the tires, we wouldn’t have made it up. We watched several snow plows attempt to make the climb up as well but none were successful. I read reviews of this driveway being tricky even during summer months. Knowing what we know now, we would not stay in this location again during the winter months. But we would definitely give it a try during warmer months.
The home owner was very responsive and made sure that we had everything we needed during our stay otherwise.

We really enjoyed our long weekend Labor Day stay in Cloudcroft. The house was a great place to call home during our trip. We would visit again!
Pros:
- Very clean house, modern, all the luxuries of home
- Very homey with cute decor and comfy furniture to lounge.
- Wildlife watching was great from the front drive chairs in the morning. We saw deer, elk, birds, and even had a kitty cat greet us each morning.
- Loved the games and books to use that were in the house.
-Modern appliances and pretty much everything you could need(pots, pans, chopper, utensils, etc) to cook all sorts of meals.
Cons:
- The driveway: getting into the drive way is very difficult. We were in a suburban and had to drive to the top of the hill, turn around, and come down to get into the driveway. When we tried to back in as stated in the directions, we got stuck and it was almost impossible to get traction on the loose gravel.
- This home probably isn’t the best choice for older people or those with difficulty climbing stairs. There are stairs to the front door and to all bedrooms once inside.
Overall it was a great trip and we would recommend this home to others. Just bring a 4-wheel drive vehicle!

WE loved our stay at On the Rocks in Cloudcroft. Brett was very accommodating! The house was very cozy and welcoming from the minute we walked in the door. We will definitely be back to stay again!

Very well appointed, everything was excellent. However,
the driveway was very hard to navigate and a bit treacherous. I wouldn't recommend this house if you are not an excellent driver with high confidence backing up into a small space. Perhaps the owners will redesign the driveway, in which case I would happily stay there again. There are many stairs both leading into and within the house, making it difficult for anyone with knee or hip problems and maybe elderly folks.

An amazing property, amazing community, and a wonderful escape in the mountains.

We were really thankful to stay at this property. The home was modern, clean, and the area accommodated the 6 of us well. Definitely bring a 4WD vehicle, as the driveway is a bit of a trick. Overall we had a great time!

The cabin was amazing! Great place for 2 couples. Bedrooms were on separate floors so allowed for privacy. Fantastic location. The cabin is just a short walk to hole 8 of the golf course. Wild horses and Elk enjoyed their evenings on the golf course. What a beautiful sight! We will definitely come stay again!!

THE absolute coziest home!
We cannot sing enough praises to the owners and management team. They made our experience with reservation and days leading up to our trip so seamless. Communication is unmatched; they’re so helpful and kind. Place is clean, cozy and very homey. I kept saying to my husband can we stay forever haha. Definitely recommend.

Very nice mountain home in town
This home was the perfect size for my husband, son, and daughter-in-law during our vacation in Cloudcroft. It was very clean and nicely decorated. We enjoyed cooking meals in the kitchen, which had everything we needed. Our only real complaint was that the driveway is awkward and somewhat difficult to navigate in a regular size pickup. In addition, there was some snow, which made it even more challenging for Texans who very rarely drive in snow (or on mountains). We love Cloudcroft and really enjoyed our stay.

In short - spectacular!
We are very familiar with the Cloudcroft area and have stayed in many, many homes over the past 30 years. This home, by far, was the most beautiful, most well-appointed, and nicest we have ever rented. The owners were quick to respond to our strange and random questions, which we really appreciated! The home is beautiful inside and out - it's obvious that so much thought was put into every single item in the home, right down to the beautiful bar cart! The parking is definitely a challenge, but once you figure it out, it's all good. We especially enjoyed the back seating area with the adirondack chairs. It was perfect for afternoon cocktails and chatting with each other and my parents who visited from a nearby cabin. It was pristine and we tried hard to keep it very clean while we stayed there. The only thing we would have loved was a covered porch somewhere as the afternoon sun tended to get warm. We also would have loved a King-sized bed, as we don't fit well in a queen (LOL!), but that is not a criticism, just a personal preference. The house is beautiful and we will stay here again and again if you'll have us! Thank you for sharing your mountain cabin with us!

Amazing and relaxing stay in the mountains!
We absolutely loved staying in this house and 8n Cloudcroft! Beautifully decorated, clean, and comfortable. Close to main Cloudcroft restaurants, hiking, and other activities. 45 minutes from White Sands and an hour from Ruidoso so we had plenty of fun events to choose from. We will absolutely be staying here again!

beautiful place
Wow! The pictures do not do this place justice! So nicely decorated and comfortable!
Owners contacted me prior to arrival and gave restaurant suggestions and information for arrival. Good location, just a quick drive into town. Temps were low and we stayed down in the lower level, but easily stayed warm. Will stay again if ever in the area!

Excellent Rental
My family has stayed at this property in the past and will continue to book it when we are in Cloudcroft. The home is very comfortable and well equipped. It has always been very clean upon arrival. The wifi works well (which is a must for our children).

Wonderful family vacation
This was a great house in Cloudroft for our family of 5! Perfect amount of space for us, beautifully updated cabin, and in a great location so close to hiking trails, snow tubing, restaurants, local brewery, and more. Also an easy drive (under an hour) to White Sands National Park. The house itself was very cute inside, but also very functional and had everything we needed. Kids loved playing in the snow right outside the house, playing the board games in the house, and we took advantage of the smart TVs for movie nights. Thanks for the great vacation!!

Beautiful mountain cabin
My family and I had a great stay at this cozy cabin nestled in the pines! The cabin was stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We were impressed with how clean it was inside, it looked like a brand new home. We enjoyed sitting on the porch in the evening listening to the sounds of nature around us. The driveway is a little tricky, but if you back in from the main road and then pull forward to the cabin it’s a piece of cake! Highly recommended, would stay here again!

Really comfy place
We had a great stay at this house! It is really clean and comfortable inside, very well decorated and everything looks new and updated. Check in and check out was easy. The road getting to the house is a little steep and you have to enter at an angle, so it is best to go past the driveway and reverse into it, or there is a spot where it is easy to turn around a little further up the road. Read the instructions from the owners!
The house is best suited for relaxing inside instead of outside. There is a deck, but it is not big enough for a table to have meals outside and grills are not allowed. There was also a bit of noise from a house being built next door and a neighbor across the road who decided to use his chainsaw for most of the day one day. That was probably just unlucky timing for us. Again, the inside was great and exactly what we were looking for to have a quick weekend getaway.

Great cabin
Wonderful property in Cloudcroft, NM. Everything is new and very clean. My family of 5 was very comfortable. We will gladly stay at this property again.

Lack of Privacy
The home is new with all new decor. Very comfortable with all necessary amenities. There are several cameras that surround the home’s exterior and deck areas. This is the first VRBO I’ve stayed at with cameras. The surveillance took away from my comfort of privacy.

A beautiful NEW getaway.
This house is immaculate. Everything was super clean, has all the amenities, and everything is new. Beautiful view, great use of space, and all the little things make this experience over the top. We came in with our family and our one year old and it was just right. Owner and property manger were great. We even extended our stay a night (super easy)! Definitely recommend this beautiful mountain home.

Exceptional
Very clean and cosy place.
Great location - far enough from the highway to avoid the noise, but close enough to get in and out easily even when it snows.
Quick and clear communications with the hosts.
Highly recommended, we would love to come back in summer.
