I spent a wonderfull time in Surf Paradise in my privat bungalow, which was very nice and clean, a Fan, privat bathroom with hot water and a very comfortable King size bed, 180 cm wide, with the best madrass on my 6 week SL trip. Good mosquito net, (but I hardly saw any mosquitos!).There is always a breeze, keeping the mosquitos away.I loved sitting on my own little terrace right in front of the beach with a fantastic view over the bech and sea. It is a lovely authentic Sri Lankan fishermans village, with the boats lying on the beach and you can see all the fisherman comming back early in the morning.
There is a lovely little terrace with Table and Chairs, in front of room, there you get your meals, with a beautiful look of the beach and the sea. A garden with a hammock, overlooking the sea.
The family is so helpful, kind and loving. Always big smiles and a good sense of humour made it a fun and interesting stay. I stayed here first time 3 years ago for 2 weeks, and had such a good time, but because of the Corona Restrictions I have been waiting 3 years to be able to come back. It really felt so good to be back again and staying with this warmhearted Family.
I had all my meals cooked by the family. Very good food, and cheaper than the restaurants around.
The sea is very good for both surfing (further out), and safe swimming, even for small children. I alsoenjoyed snorkelling right of the beach , just 10 meters out, a lot of fish, and turles, this I saw every day. I would not hesitate in recommending this place to anyone.

The house is small and cute, direkt on the beach.
The small Terrasse was very comfortable with a wonderful view to the ocean and a big plus is there vere no Moskitos.
The owners are very nice and friendly. They prepared for us good dinner.
The room is simple, but for us it was very comfortable.

We had a wonderful time in Surf Paradise! Beautiful, quiet location. Amazing garden and sea views! You can hear the waves from your bed! Absolutely delicious Sri Lankan breakfast and dinner. And what makes this place truly special is the people! Super friendly, kind, helpful and generous, big hearted people! We felt like a part of their family! We can’t wait to see them again!

I spent wonderful days in Surf Paradise in my little bungalow, which was very nice and clean. There was always a nice breeze, so that I even didn't need the fan. Sitting on my own little terrace right at the beach with a fantastic view, enjoying delicious breakfast and the best (optional) dinner I had in Sri Lanka was heaven on earth. The family is most lovely and kind and I loved to spend time with them. I highly recommend this cute and nice place and will definitely come back one day.
Nothing.

We had a lovely stay at Surf Paradise. The breakfast every morning was amazing! The room is in a beautiful location with stunning views of the beach which is only a few steps away. Really good restaurants nearby and not far to walk to other beaches along the coast. Our hosts were very kind and super helpful!

The family is so kind and sweet!! They were so helpful and concerned we were always enjoying. We shared many laughs and memories together. Delicious Sri Lankan food. Rice and curry, fruits, seafood, fresh salad, omelettes, fruit juice, beers. This is a hidden gem with a beautiful view, beach, and family. True authentic feel! Only 10 mins walking to silent beach. Highly recommended!!!!!!

In this place we met the most hospitable family on our trip throughout Sri Lanka. The accomodation is simple but you have everything you need. The bed is really comfy. The location is phenomenal in the middle of the nature close to three beautiful beaches (Unakuruwa, Silent Beach & Secret Beach) which are all in walking distance. From the terrace you have an scenic view over the beach and you can check the surf spot for waves. It was just perfect.

We feel like we have no words for this place. Let me start by saying, if you doubt between staying 1 or 2, or 2 or 3, or 3 or 4 days, allways go for the most days because you will regret having to leave. This is one of the most special and wonderfull places we have ever been. First of all, the bay of Unakuruwa is everything your mind can imagine when you think of a tropical beach. Though the south coast of Sri Lanka had many beatifull beaches (we visited quite a few) this one is unique for it is the perfect combination of authentic Sri Lankan fishermans village (with the boats lying on the beach and you can see all the fisherman going early in the morning) but also some facilities being present which makes the stay comfortable as a visitor. There is a bar, and a lovely little restaurant (Moon Cabanna, where we stayed one night after we sadly couldn't stay here any longer, also really, really, wonderfull) where you can have the freshest fruit shakes and coconut water, als wel as tasty meals (both local as more Westernstyle). The beach itself is great for swimming, and there is hardly anyone there. I think that on a daily basis, about 10 tourists stay in a room in Unakuruwa, and about 20 visit with a tuktuk from somewhere else and thats it. So at any given point, there was a maximum of 10 people on the beach, excluding the fishermen. Off course, tourism is low because of corona right now, but even if you would double those numbers, you still essentially have the beach to yourself. Also good to know, in some parts of Sri Lanka, you can feel a little watched by the locals for walking around on the beach in a bikini, but that wasnt the case here. Now thats all about Unakuruwa beach, but this accomodation brings even more to the table. I know sometimes places say 'with a beach view' and you have to glare between some trees so see the sea 200 metres away, not here.
As mentioned, there could be some more space for your stuff, and a bedlight would be nice, but we feel that even if the price per night was 2 times what it is, we still wouldn't be allowed to complain about that.

This was the kindest family, we have ever met. Even though we spent there only one night we felt like part of the family. They made us dinner and breakfast and let us try the coconuts from their garden. We called them 2h before we arrived and they did everything they can to welcome us. 1.5 years they haven't had guests due to the covid pandemic. The stars rather present the potential of the accommodation so give them a few more days and they have the bungalows 15m away from the beach prepared.
100% worth it!
Not entirely ready for guests which is understandable since we called them 2 h before we arrived. They didn't welcome guests for 1.5 years before due to the covid pandemic.

This family is super sweet, warm and welcoming! Especially our little daughter enjoyed the familiar atmosphere and friendliness.
The room is almost next to the beach. You can be at home and feel like you are on the beach which was great with a small kid!
The father is a fisherman and they will prepare the catch of the day for you if you like as well as many other delicious curries. We could even prepare an ambarella curry with them one day with ambarellas from their garden.
In the morning we enjoyed drinking our coffee on the view terrace next to their house from where you can see the surfers well.
The room could have more possibilities to put your stuff, some more shelves would have been really helpful. The bed is very big and comfy, good moskito net but the fan really needs to be replaced, it broke down a couple of times during our stay (no air con here but really not needed with the sea breeze)
Also the breakfast could be a little better and more.

The best experience of homestay in Sri Lanka.
The room is clear, clean and there is some air. The bed is huge and super comfortable. There is a great terrace with see view, and it's 30 meters from the beach. It's perfect.
The family who's running the place is extraordinary! So kind and interesting. They will help you the best they can, and try to satisfy all your wishes despite of the fact they don't have much. The best people I've ever met! I felt like home.
Thank you so much
Hope to see you soon again!

Wonderful experience! Good room & heartfull familly hosts.
Very good room, sleeping well with the wave's sound.
Big confortable new bed, quality mattress.
Easy to use mosquito net. Sometimes we did not sleep with the fan cause it's so close to the océan, we felt the chill of the seabreaze.
The familly was so nice. Really kind people who love to help and share with others.
Thanks for the cooking lessons ans the tasty breakfast
I recommaned this place and this smal remonte fisherman beach.
