Oakleaf Hideaway is a recently renovated cottage nestled in the trees on 20 private acres atop of Lookout Mountain. Featuring private walking trails, waterfalls and 2,000 feet of frontage on Straight Creek, the cottage is your perfect getaway to unwind and recharge. Located just 1.5 miles from the Visitor's Center at Desoto State Park, the cottage is close to everything including Mentone, Little River Canyon, and Ft. Payne.

Master Suite:
Enjoy the serenity of the woods and golden sunsets from the comfort of the luxurious King bed featuring 600 thread-count linens. French doors lead to the large back deck with a fire-pit.

The master also features a sitting area with an antique settee from France, a master closet, chest, and a master bath with a full-sized washer and dryer.

Guest Bedroom:
The guest bedroom has two twin beds that can be pushed together for couples. This bright and airy room has beautiful views of the forest and features luxurious linens, drapery and a mural framed with aged local barn wood.

Kitchen:
The well-appointed chef's kitchen features warm butcher block countertops, a large rustic island, new black-stainless appliances with gas stove, and several details built from wood from a nearby 1800's barn. Rough-sawn open shelving from a nearby family farm sets off the beautiful and artistic decor.

Living Room / Dining Room:
The open concept living room exudes coziness and warmth. Hand-scraped oak hardwood floors, wood accent walls, and the limewashed fireplace and wood-burning stove will make even the coldest days delightful. A 40-inch 4k smart television has Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Apple TV apps. Just bring your favorite TV provider login and enjoy a movie night. While we think the best days are the days spent outside, we do have fast WiFi and LTE/4G coverage. The living room also features a pull-out sofa bed with a comfortable new memory foam mattress.

The dining room has seating for six (we've squeezed 9 around the table), and we provide china and service for six as well.

The front door is equipped with a digital lock, and we'll provide you a code prior to your arrival.

We had a wonderful stay at this woodsy hideaway! Everything was perfect from the excellent directions to the super comfy king bed. The pictures do not even do the place justice. Wonderfully appointed kitchen with everything we needed. We really enjoyed relaxing on the screened in porch listening to the birds and even saw a few deer pass by. Close to great hiking at De Soto and Little River Canyon. Highly recommend!

We loved the location. Very private and quiet. It has hiking right behind the house. Its close to Desoto and little river canyon. Huge bedrooms with comfy beds. Everything we could want.

We had a great time. It’s very convenient to the state park and a great place for runs. The house had some great touches and the screen porch was great for reading and relaxing. The host communicated every step of the way and was very helpful when we left a couple of things behind. The dogs loved it too.

The cabin was very clean and the location was great real close to the state parks . The outdoor area was a little overgrown and the keypad to get into the cabin was very sensitive and took several tries each time to get in. But overall fabulous place to stay and super clean and great location.

The host contacted us after checkin to make sure we found the home as described and see if we needed anything. He was helpful and responded quickly to any inquiries. The cabin is warm and inviting. The kitchen is well stocked with everthing you could need and more. The masterbed is very comfortable and the view into the woods from the deck is a perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee or evening cocktail. The property was so enjoyable, whether sitting on the front swing looking into the small garden or exploring the trail down to the creek and waterfall. I have to mention how sweet it was to have a 3 dog welcoming committee whenever we drove onto the property! What a treat and my dog made quick friends! We would book this cabin again and highly recommend it for any nature lover who is looking for a serene place to stay.

Location was perfect for our cousins staying in Desoto State Park. The home was spotless and stocked for all our needs. From all the appliances to the comfort of the beds this place was perfect and we hope to stay again if possible. Thanks for making our stay so special.

This is a beautiful woodsy cottage close to the town. It has a wonderful layout, and is decorated beautifully. Everything was neat and clean. The side porch was perfect. The back deck could use a little work, but it wasn’t too bad.

As others have said, the pictures don't do this property justice. It is very well decorated and impeccably clean. We made a point to enjoy all the special spots: the fire table on the back deck, the day bed on the screened porch, the wood burning fireplace inside, the swing on the front porch, and the creek out back. Location was great: we hiked DeSoto and Little River Canyon during our stay, and enjoyed some beautiful drives in the area

Oakleaf Hideaway was the perfect place for a getaway. My 2 sisters and I thoroughly enjoyed a much-needed getaway after the passing of our 91-year-old father, plus one sister having been diagnosed this year with 4th stage cancer. The cabin was just lovely and had everything we needed, plus some. It’s in the backyard of DeSoto State Park and very convenient to everything nearby. We were not ready to leave this lovely place and will definitely be a repeat customer. Thanks for letting us enjoy your lovely hideaway.

It's not often that a place fully lives up to its description, but this one definitely does and more! The location is peaceful and private, but also very close to hiking trails, Mentone, and Fort Payne. The house itself is beautifully decorated with many thoughtful touches (like string lights and live plants and super soft sheets). And the kitchen has absolutely everything! Also very pet friendly with dog bowls, crate, towels, etc. provided. (There are a couple of loose neighbor dogs who will approach you as you enter/leave the property; they are friendly, but they do bark at you.) We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to return!

I’m not sure which was more perfect the gardens in front of the house, the front porch, screened back porch or that the pictures of the house didn’t show just how comfortable this cabin is. The only thing missing was more time in our schedule to stay longer. We hope to be back soon!

We absolutely loved staying at Oakleaf Hideaway! The owners haven’t missed a single detail. The kitchen has literally everything you need. Beds are comfortable and the property is so unique and special. So close to Desoto State Park and Mentone. We’ll definitely be back!

Looking for a peaceful stay? This is it! We had a relaxing weekend with our pup and can’t wait to book again. The weather was perfect and reading on the sleeper porch all day was heavenly. Mentone is close by, and the amazing waterfalls and parks made the weekend perfect. We also had great communication with the hosts, who were super friendly and communicative. 10/10!

My family and I have stayed at a little more than 100 VRBO properties. BY FAR this was our best experience! The hosts communicated before, during and after our stay. The house was spotless. The property was incredibly peaceful, and while only minutes from civilization, it seems like we were in the middle of nowhere. Don't worry about bringing anything except clothes, a tootbrush and food. We had everything else we needed... My kids were asking when we were coming back, even before we left. If the hosts will have us back, this will be our go to property for a quick few days getaway! Thank you David and Lily!

We have stayed in VRBO properties from Colorado to Vermont to Florida. And Lily's and David's place now ranks number 1 with us! They have literally thought of everything you would need/want in your own home and have it available for their guests--tea and accompaniments; phone chargers on the bedside tables; shampoo, etc in the bathrooms--as examples. We had the fortune of meeting them during our stay. They are just as lovely as their home. A fantastic vacation.

We fell in love with this cozy home. We were vacationing for spring break and our daughter’s birthday. She was so excited to see the birthday message left for her by our hosts. David was very quick to respond to any questions we had and checked on us during the storms that passed by. Before we even got in the car, the kids were asking when we were coming back to stay. This was among the best vacation homes we have ever stayed in. The home is exceptionally well-stacked with everything we needed. The owners seem to have thought of everything. The property is a great place to explore and relax, with waterfalls and streams for fun and peacefulness. Communication with the hosts was easy and quick and they provided plenty of information about the home and area. A great place to unwind, de-stress, and reconnect with each other.
