Very nice and clean. Lots of room. Might be helpful to the older potential guests to let them know it's 192 steps to the dock and 192 steps back to the house. No mention of that in the VRBO ad. Also if you're going to have spare pillows in the closets it would help to have the cases with them. Other than that we had lots of fun.

The stairs to the floating dock were a bit intimidating at first but well worth it once you jump in the water. We loved the games, too. All good for two 60+ and our 2 dogs. We will definitely book again!

It was a perfect set up for my daughter and I to have the two bedrooms upstairs and share a bath and my two sons had the entire downstairs with a den in a bedroom. We had a great stay. The walk down to the lake is a little hard, but it is so nice once you get there, very beautiful view and a great location

This home combines lakefront with a mountain view. Older home but very charming. As noted elsewhere it is a long, steep walk to the lake and a hard core workout coming back up. Back deck is a great spot for cooking out, having morning coffee or afternoon cocktails.

We enjoyed our stay! Chalet Rouge is located on a quieter end of the lake which we all enjoyed. Our family loved spending time together on the deck in the evening looking at all of the fireflies. The steps down to the lake was great exercise in the morning!

Very nice property, well located, great deck and views of lake. 170 steps down to lake made for great workouts. Thoroughly enjoyed.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at chalet rouge. We knew from previous reviews that they were over 100 steps to the lake so even though there are 193 stairs to the lake - the rest bench and gazebo was perfect. The place was so clean, as long as you are reasonably fit- would highly recommend it. Loved it and the view is spectacular. Perfect stay for our family of 4

We enjoyed our stay at the Chalet Rouge. Cute cabin-like feel.
The walk back to the house from the lake is strenuous!! Lots of steps but a nice midway breakpoint and a bench. ☺️☺️
Beautiful lake!

This was a beautiful property with outstanding views. The homes has a nice large newer kitchen which we really enjoyed. The outside deck is incredibly large and setup to accommodate a large family. We spent most of our time outside on the covered patio. The home is in a very good location on the lake. Many homes on the lake are very hard to access. This home is very conveniently located and close to Cashiers. It is also on a quiet end of the lake with minimal boat traffic. A few things to consider when renting this property. There are 198 stairs from the house to the dock! We called it the stairway to heaven. It does take a while to get between the house and dock and you really want to plan your trips. The dock is not ideally setup for a boat. There is only one cleat on each side of the dock which make it very hard to tie a boat to. The furniture in the family consists of a really old uncomfortable couch and two outdoor lawn chairs. For the rental price of this home this furniture should absolutely be replaced. The downside couch which has a pull out bed was broken and not useable. This was reported to the management company. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Our biggest disappointment centered around the furniture, stairs and dock. Although we were well aware of the many stairs prior to the rental from the pictures.

This was a lovely house with a nice setup with bedroom(s) and bath on each floor allowing for together and separate time for groups sharing the house. It is very peaceful and the views are excellent. It is a long 198 steps to the water, but well worth it. The gazebo and docks are nice additions. We plan to come again.

This is a beautiful home, great lakehouse feel, sufficient for everything we needed with four teenagers. There are two sofa beds, one upstairs and one downstairs which was helpful. It was nice to have a downstairs hang out room. Everything felt fresh and clean. Includes a nice canoe which is locked on the dock. The paddles could be improved - seems like the top pieces are missing. The only negative about this home is access to the dock, and I feel like that should be disclosed in the photos so you know what you are getting into. We probably still would have selected this home because there wasn't a lot available and we really wanted to have lake access. Since we have older kids, teens and college age, it worked okay for us. But beyond the Gazebo deck area in the photos is rock face on a hill down to the water and another set of four steps which wind your way down to the actual dock. It is a shock to see at first, how far it is to the water, and it is somewhat of a challenge to carry paddleboards down to the dock. There is no shoreline - only jump off the dock for water access. I wouldn't recommend for younger kids or elderly. I think a photo from the water looking in at the dock should be included. But the property itself is beautiful if you are okay with a steep descent to the lake. My college students ran the steps for a morning workout. This is a great area to be, the end of the cove has one of Lake Glenville's water falls.

For the most part the experience was good, solid location close to Cashiers and Highland. Nice view of the lake. Close to the marina. The property was very dirty and there was a lot of dog hair all over the house. We booked this place because it was pet friendly but it looked like no one had vacuumed the place in months.

They management company was excellent. Very attentive before with deposit and insurance info, during with key arrangements, instructions and directions, area info and restaurants and entertainment and they knew the property very well and after for key drop off seemed genuinely interested in the few items we found out of place. The house is a quaint lake house. On a beautiful piece of property with large deck and great room which was great for our family to gather for eating, playing guitars and singing and cooking out. It is a gas grill- which they told us at the management company. Our kids loved the canoe and jumping off the dock to swim. This area does not have a beach swim area but a very accessible ladder when swimming. We rented a boat at Signal Marine one day and loved being able to pull up to the house for toilet and lunch. The only problems we had was animals had gotten into the trash that the previous tenant had left out- not a problem- but a fact of life when renting homes with wildlife. Trash pick-up was non-existent and we finally took our trash to a public dumpster. The furniture was a little dated and worn but perfect for us with kids- which loved the area downstairs w a separate tv and fuzeball table. We cooked quite a bit at the cabin- brought our own crock-pot and everything worked great. It was tidy and actually looks more updated in person than in the pictures. Great house for the price.

We had a wonderful stay at Chalet Rouge. The weather was amazing. The floor plan and decor were good. The beds and linens were just fine. All appliances worked including the a/c but we didn't need it very much. The deck is perfect. The house is good but lacking in a few areas we wished we had known about before going. The pics of the outside do not describe the "hike" down to the water. Very steep and long. Once you get to the water, it is beautiful. But you need to be in pretty good shape to be able to climb down and back up. Stone and wooden steps were safe. The canoe was a great plus. The climb was too steep to put our kayaks in and out of the water. No chairs at the bottom. The kitchen is quite lacking. We had a foodie with us and he was missing lots of utensils/cookware in this kitchen. If you stay here, bring your own knives, cutting boards, cork screw, frying pans, storage containers. And if you need WiFi bring your own hotspot. We had very little connection. Hard to preview restaurants or obtain recipes when the internet just goes away. And if you think you might get some work done via the internet....forget about it. But a very short drive to Cashiers which has a great coffee shop to get some work done. The location of this house was fantastic. When outside you feel like you are lost in the forest.....but very short drive to restaurants and shops. Lake Glenville was beautiful with 3 waterfalls on the lake. We rented a boat and cruised the water. Such a beautiful area. We will return!

As always, Lake Glenville did not disappoint. The location and layout of the house were divine. This may have been the best porch we've ever had! We didn't even mind the steps and the Gazebo was a huge bonus. Only complaints: 1. The cooking supplies were TERRIBLE! The home had very few pots, pans, etc. We had to go out and purchase 9x11 pans! That's a kitchen standard! Also, the biggest pot was fairly tiny ... "Big meals" had to be cooked in several phases ... not the best use of vacation time. 2. The home should not advertise internet for it RARELY worked. We had plans to catch up on some shows late at night but were never successful in maintaining a connection. 3. The downstairs sofa is in really bad shape. The sofa bed could not really be used. Many springs were missing. (4. This isn't really anything that you guys can probably address, but the dock is quite small and visitors AND NEIGHBORS are often not considerate when traveling down the lake and we were often almost rocked right off the dock ... while sitting in chairs!)

The partially covered deck was fabulous for rain and sunshine. Loved the hummingbirds, butterflies, flowers and lake view. Used the fireplace every night. Having our boat in the lake at our dock made boating a breeze. Of course we loved having our dogs vacation with us.
