The location was amazing, it was light and had a balcony.
The bathroom was tiny however we managed.

Friendly staff, good bed and great breakfast. Dinner for a very reasonable price. Great hiking in the area. You should not miss Mam Tor, but it is very busy. The Cave Dale gorge at Castleton was much quieter and simply magical.
The church is near the pub and both the hourly bells and the quarter hour chimes start very early in the morning.

Very comfortable room with a 'stag' theme decor and ornaments. Spacious bathroom and good towels.
Huge bed with very good quality bedding.
Tea and coffee in the room; always welcome!!!
Home cooked food on the menu for the evening meal and it really was superb.

We loved this pub in the middle of the wonderful Derbyshire countryside.

The room was lovely, with a balcony and an amazing view. Such a great location. The weekend break was a gift from a friend, so was a wonderful surprise. We are keen walkers, so there was plenty of beautiful surroundings, right on the doorstep. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, will definitely be going back.

The welcome was far above expectations, we were very late due to weather conditions and our hosts kept the kitchen open late for us and provided dinner even though we hadn’t booked a table. The atmosphere in the bar was great and was clearly a favourite among locals, we’d definitely visit again.
Honesty couldn’t put a complaint against our stay. Only the fact we couldn’t stay longer!

Really lovely homely pub. Extremely welcoming & informative. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms was fabulous as was the bathroom, all spotless. The breakfast was very nice & plenty to choose from. Didn't have an evening meal but what we saw come out of the kitchen looked very nice. Very accommodating & dog friendly, our boxer (Trevor) was made more than welcome, towels to wipe his muddy paws available also.
Nothing, all was very good. No issues with anything at all.

Fantastic location, very friendly and helpful staff couldn't do enough for us. All the locals made us feel welcome and we were asked to join in with there entertainment which we accepted and had a great laugh doing the Sunday quiz. The walk into Castleton was beautiful through the w.oods, past the cement works (which is massive and a fantastic bit of engineering) and then into the magical village of Castleton. We will probably return in summer to see the other side of it.
Great part of the world with superb scenery.
Thanks to Lynne and all the staff,
Have a Merry Christmas and the Best New Year, from Steve and Lorraine.
