Sympaattinen ja siisti majoituspaikka, sauna kiva plussa sadepäivän päätteeksi. Kylältä löytyi kauppa ja kaupasta salaattibaari. Svartisenin jäätiköllä olisi pitänyt käydä.

Wonderful location with great views over the fjord. The staff were super friendly and helpful, putting the sauna on for us when we arrived wet from the rain. Also gave us some interesting stories and tips of things to see in the area. Could not recommend more - brilliant! We will be back when we are in the area again.

Unique service - the hostel owner helped me and other guests to get equipment that was lost or broken on a Saturday night for the next day! Coffee for us too, and nice talks, good advice for glacier views - not their fault that it was cloudy ;-) Very competent staff, they know everything about the region. Nice with the other guests too, everybody was planning different outdoor activities. 1a place of choice!
Only one sink - it's in the bathroom downstairs and everybody at the whole hostel has to brush the teeth there in the morning ;-) But otherwise supercozy rooms, kitchen, living room, so that's something we could live with.

We really liked the concept of the accommodation. It was simple and clean. Great place for people who want to explore the beautiful surroundings. Moreover, you can book a kayak or glacier expedition on the spot. The owner was supernice, prepared to give an advice to every guests. We were going hiking in the mountains, the owner showed us interesting places on the map and even drove us through the tunnel to the place where the hiking trail starts. We can only recommend the place and looking forward to vome back one day.

This turned out to be the best place my family had, as we travelled 5000km across Norway and Sweden. - largely because of the wonderful host, Øyvind. He arranged a wonderful kayaking session in the fjord right in front of the basecamp, pointed us to beautiful sites around the area (waterfall, bathing area, dam), and guided us on the Svartisen glacier hike. Øyvind was very helpful, supportive and professional.
Though Glonfjord is not as well-known as other fjords north and south of it, Øyvind had made this place very very special.
The kitchen could be better maintained, e.g. drawers cleaned, and better equipped e.g. with salad bowl etc. The co location of bathroom with laundry and toilet limits the use of each facility. Some partition may be helpful.

The room was nice and the host really friendly and helpful
There wasn’t a private bathroom

We were in the pre-season (end of May) - three adults with dog - spontaneously looking for a cottage on a campsite. Unfortunately, all cabins in the area were fully booked due to weather conditions. The only accommodation in the area shown by Booking.com was still a triple room in Gulbrakka Basecamp. We decided to book without checking recommendations and when we arrived we were greeted very friendly by the houseowner, even got two rooms for the price of one and a free coffee to welcome us with a tour of the house. Two rooms for three adults with dog was a welcome change after a long trip. Although the street is close, the rooms are quiet and you can sleep with the window open if needed. The curtains completely darken the room, which also helps for restful sleep in areas of constant day and night brightness. It is quiet in the corridors with no loud music or the like, although all rooms were occupied. Each room has cleanly made beds and fresh towels. The shared bathrooms are clean with free hot showers, and two friendly cleaning ladies are coming daily in the morning for cleaning everything. The shared kitchen is fully equipped including fridge and there is a large shared living room with couches for relaxing. It is close to the start of the boats tour for the glacier hiking tour (about 25-30 min drive) and to the national park (about 10-15 min drive). As a conclusion it can be said that we unexpectedly got one of the best shared accommodations of our whole trip through Norway for a cabin price and that if we come to the area again for longer vacation we would definitely stay again in Gulbrakka Basecamp also longer term.

This is a nice, small guesthouse directly on the lovely Glomfjord. I was the only guest & person there the night I stayed, and the guesthouse had everything I needed after a long day of driving and prior to another one the next day.

this place is exactly as advertised, basic but comfortable. we really enjoyed the communal living and met lots of really nice people who were also on hiking trips. the hosts were really nice and we were lucky to stay in one of the refurbished rooms that was really good. I’d give the actual room 10/10.
the upstairs loo and shower are due a refurb but the downstairs one was lovely

Great sauna and beautiful view.
4.3
-Perfect view
-Good sauna (enjoyed also a dip in the sea)
-Cozy common area
-Well equipped kitchen
-Good quality blankets and pillows
-LOTS of information about hiking opportunities etc!
-Room was a bit cold when we came. Although we still slept very well. Another older couple was more worried about the temperature than us. Good heaters in the common areas, but the heaters in the rooms were not working.

'Gulbrakka' - literally translating as 'the yellow barrack' - is, of course, a yellow barrack, but beyond that a typical 'along-the-road-place' pretty much in the middle of nowhere. But very conveniently located for all those keen to make the most of the incredible outdoor opportunities in the area. My son and I were just traveling through, but for us as well, Gulbrakka turned out to be a great solution. Decent value for money, easy-going host (who we only spoke to on the phone), and very comfy beds. The kitchen, where we cooked our own supper and breakfast, was nice and clean and had everything we needed.
We pretty much had the place to ourselves, so there was no queuing up for the bathroom or anything else. But I can imagine there being a little bit of that at times since there was just one big unisex bathroom, with two showers, two washing machines and the toilet all in the same room. So, if I were to recommend an improvement, it would be to at least close off the corner for the toilet.
