The staff was good, and helpful. Besides that, absolutely nothing is good about this place.
Extremely unclean, big infested and highly uncomfortable space. The advertising on Booking.com is completely false!

Beautiful views, friendly staff

Food was amazing (make sure you try the crayfish). Staff (Clinton especially) were super helpful and canoe tour was fun.
No sockets in the dorms so charge your devices before. Also the free boat leaves at 1pm, I thought that was a bit late

This place is a piece of paradise. It's huge and you can walk around the property in the nature, even get to the other side of the island. No motorized vehicles, you will only hear birds. Food in the restaurant is nice and the staff is lovely. There is a free boat to get there every day at 5pm and at 1pm to come back to mainland. The mototaxi from town to the docks charges 10-12k and the road is pretty bad.
The wifi is not that good, even when they switch it on it doesn't always work properly (I had to use my data on my laptop).

O breakfast
Hotwater and more lights in rooms and extra blankets we were freezing

this place is a hidden gem! absolutely stunning location, great value for money, tastiest food i had during my whole trip in Uganda, nice staff and so peaceful

Superb view from our cottage (dome), good food (you can eat whenever you want, there's always someone around), free Ugandan tea, late check-out (12.00), swimming deck with sun beds. We visited the school on the island, which was a nice experience.
If you miss the free boot at 17.00, you'll have to pay 30000 shilling for your transfer.

It’s a budget resort on a small island, but rooms are clean and staff is great. You won’t have flush in the toilets and electricity in the room (only available at the restaurant), Wi-Fi is unstable, but who cares - this is a place to chill for some day and disconnect. They prepare good food for a reasonable price (10-30k ugx) and help to arrange boat tours and other activities (a bit expensive).
Be aware you can reach it only by canoe (7k ugx) or boat (30k ugx)

It's peaceful at a remote place. Economic, sustainable, and well organised with friendly staff.
Thank you Friday for the tour.
The mosquitoes :) but there were not that many

An idyllic location on an island in Lake Bunyoni. The island itself makes a nice little hike, and during that hike you're sure to bump into a local man named John who lives on the island and offers a half-day boating and hiking tour to the mainland and another island for 40,000 shillings per person. Dugout canoes are available for rental, and the swimming platform is nice. The food is great and reasonably priced. I had a fantastic, beautiful, and very relaxing three days here.
The wifi is unreliable, so if you'll need communications then be sure to come with your own Ugandan Sim card. But that is pretty common in Africa.

On our trip we spent four nights at Byoona Amagara at Lake Bunyonyi. It was a great place to stay to relax and enjoy the beautiful nature. Because the accommodation is located on an island, it has a special vibe. We did a canoe tour which was highly recommended. The staff was very friendly and always very concerned about the welfare of their guests. The food was very tasty and you could enjoy it with a beautiful view. Wi-Fi is available in the restaurant area. I really liked the idea of compost toilets.

The view from the bed is really nice.
Quiet place, rooms are well isolated from the rest.
The staff is helpful when you need something.
Getting to the place during raining season is a real challenge.
Overall the extra charges such as
1) If arriving by boat is the only way to get to the island, the cost should be included in the stay.
2) It would be good to know in advance we are charged 4% fee when paying by card, so we can get enough cash before reaching the island.
3) Being charged extra for a slice of bread when ordering soup.

this place is a dream and eve thing about it is wonderful! the smiling staff, the food, the breathtaking views! they have many activities and games. the geodomes are not to be missed. they even take credit cards! Friday also helped us to book our taxis and bus to kampala upon leaving.
nothing!

Really beautiful, relaxing place and lovely staff! I was staying in the dorm and it was as expected (don't expect crazy high level of confort though). The food is also really good.
I also booked via the hotel one day hiking/visiting the island with the guide Ditah and it was really nice! I would definitely recommend. Ditah is super friendly and helpful and has many stories to share about the region!

The structure is very nice, the staff as well. We loved it. The lake is a paradise!

Views from the rooms are lovely. Appreciated the attention to environmental principles. Staff very responsive.
Beds were uncomfortable, boat transport to/from the island isn't included, have to pay for "extras" (slice of lemon in a drink, milk w/coffee etc)

This place is very unique and peaceful. I will definitely come back to just relax. The view of the cabins is just amazing. The food is great, one of the best that I've had so far. Free filtered water is offered, since Friday, the owner, discourages the usage of plastic bottles, which is great.
The owner is very kind and available. He also runs his foundation, called Friday Foundation, which supports a really good cause.
It took us some time to find the place because we arrived at night. You need to park at the parking of Supreme Adventure Park, so add that address on google maps instead of the one of Byoona. To get there you take a small boat from the parking. We called the owner when we couldn't find the place and he helped us right away and organized the boat transfer to get to our cabin.
No wifi available.

Friendly Staff & above average food
Property is not clean and equipment need maintenance. New mattresses needed, new covers, etc
No hot water (even if you pay for it) & you have to pay for the boat to pick you up or you can’t spend the night there.

I couldn't decide which room I liked best!!!

great off-grid place to relax. food was excellent. balcony lodge was quit comfortable. went to sleep to sound of crickets and woke to myriad of bird calls.
watch for miss on walkways that get very slick after rain.

Wonderful staff, especially Friday who is extremely kind and welcoming. Great restaurant which affordable prices (even for backpackers). Amazing place for relaxing without internet connection. Nice place to swim and sunbathe. Basic but good rooms. People complain about the hot shower costing extra but you got a loooooot of super hot water for 1usd so it was literally the best shower ever and so worth it. The room prices are very reasonable for this experience.
Not so much to do there so take boardgames with you! They charge quite a bit for the boat ride (especially as they need to do the ride anyways since they pick up groceries from mainland)

Loved the place in this peaceful area. The staff is shy but very friendly as soon as you break the ice.
A tip : have a walk in the north west part of the island where we met a very nice local community. They can cook amazing crayfish with rice (done by John) and they also sell craft. I think it's nice to spread the money in the all island and not only at the hotel.
Expect boat fee to come and leave the place. A bit ridiculous when you think that you have no other option to arrive. It cost 30k shillings UG per trip.
As well, don't expect any luxury. Wifi only at the restaurant didn't work for 2 days. Fridge is not cold.
But it's logic when you think that you are on a lost island in Uganda so it didn't bother us.

The location is like a small paradise!! The restaurant serves great food and all the staff is very friendly to help with wathever questions you have. Wonderful place.

location is awesome. The accommodation is located on one of the islands.
everything has to be purchased extra like hot shower (5000 UGX), every meal, even breakfast (~18000-25000), the boat ride to the island (30000 UGX each way). there is no way to get to the accommodation without paying extra money.
sadly one the worst things is the customer service. we booked two nights, but could only stay one ( no payment was done in advance), they insisted that we have to pay for the whole two nights even though we left after one. there was no effort of finding any kind of compromise not even a beverage as compensation. nothing. the manager refused to talk to us. it is unfortunate that the customer service was that bad as the location itself is beautiful! we would choose another of the beautiful accommodations next time.
