The lady who runs it was super sweet and lovely and the location was superb. Amazing stay for tourists in Haraizumi.
Pillows were a little hard but that was the only complaint

Lovely renovated ryokan right in the middle of Hiraizumi. A few minutes walk from the station also connects you to Ichinoseki, and other cities along the line.
Japanese room was clean and well decorated with traditional pieces, ryokan offers communal (not-mixed) hot baths, cheap laundry machines, and a number of snacks etc at reception.
The room has no curtains which means you wake up with the sun coming through the shoji door. Then if you want to open them for more light, you're right on the street with zero privacy.
The room was also very cold, and because of using a gas heater it was dangerous to leave it on all night (so bring pajamas!).

Traditional style accommodation, gives you the chance to sleep in a futon on the tatami, wear a yukata, and utilise shared bathroom facility, or sento. It is worth the experience 😊 it's reasonably close to Hiraizumi station (about 10 minutes walk) and the host very kindly tried to accomodate for my vegan requirements for breakfast. Bathroom and toilets were clean.
Being a traditional style building, it's quite noisy, I could hear people walking up and down the corridor or opening and closing their doors and wardrobes. I absolutely LOVE the look of the futon and tatami, but I must say it is not comfortable for most of us westeners. It's like sleeping on the ground 🥲
The aircon unit in the room is old but worked well, anywhere else in the building (corridors, bathroom, etc) was crazy hot and humid.
I appreciated so very much that the host tried to accomodate for my vegan breakfast, however food was quite plain and could be improved.

It is near the main attraction, 毛越寺. And since the town is small, the walking distance from the railway station is also easy to manage: one large street, 7 minutes straight. The place is very clean, and the staff very friendly. There is a public bath on the first floor.
The hallway and second floor is hot and stuffy. You need to keep the air conditioning in room always running.

Comfy and spacious room with a nice view over the rice fields. Friendly staff and good location between Motsu-ji and train station.
Laundry machines are located in the common shower room and are thus can be a bit inconvenient to use.

Good location not far from the station, and for Hiraizumi an ok price. Very friendly. They have older and newer rooms, and you can book without meals (be prepared - nothing is open in Hiraizumi after 4 or 5 pm).
I liked the room, but some might find the futon too thin / too hard.

Location was excellent - very near train station and Motsu-ji temple. The tatami room was spacious with pleasing decor and I appreciated the regular chairs (not floor chairs with cushion) with table. Room had ensuite bath, tub deep enough for good soak. Comforter was warm and fluffy. Did not try the Onsen or eat breakfast so can’t comment.
Nothing to report - everything was exceptional.

The breakfast was awesome 👌
I turned off the heat for the night to not have the noise but then it was very very cold in the bedroom.... maybe next time I should let it on ^^

The innkeeper was welcoming, kind, and generous. She lent me a bicycle to use for the day of my stay, which was very convenient for visiting the sites around Hiraizumi. The bath is big, and seems to be used one by one. As with the bath, the toilet is shared. It is newly renovated and very clean and modern. There is a refrigerator in the hall for use by the guests. The room has an electric kettle and teacups. There is a heater in the room, which I only needed to use early one morning of my stay. The bedding was warm so no heating was necessary.
There is a Korean restaurant nextdoor where I enjoyed a delicious dinner and enjoyable chat with the owner. Down the street there is an izakaya, where I enjoyed another good mean and interesting conversation.
I've lived in Japan for most of my life, so I am used to sleeping on the floor, but those not used it it may find the futon a bit hard.

Good breakfast. Helpful staff.
While it wasn't that far from the train station, I arrived at 8 pm in the dark and Google Maps took me along the street with the back of the building, and I had to figure out where the entrance was by going around the block looking for a light. Staff said they are aware of the issue but don't know how to remedy it.

The host is very kind, the breakfast was simple but delicious japanese-style breakfast and the view from my window was beautiful :)

The owner was very helpful. She ordered us a delicious bento box because the local restaurants were mostly closed (national holidays). Traditional Japanese breakfast was very good. The hotel is an excellent location for visiting the temples in the town.
The room was shabby. There was a stain on the wall (coffee?) which had not been cleaned. The rest of the building was spotless, so that was a shame. The futon mattress was too thin and uncomfortable.

-excellent and beautiful room
-really helpful staff, even they can’t speak english
-no elevator
