We loved that we could see the Gulf and the Mississippi Sound/Mobile Bay! There were spectacular sunrises and sunsets! The house had everything we needed, including all of the kitchen things. The house was very clean when we checked in and the digital locks worked great. The pier was great for viewing nature and watching the Perseid Meteor Shower. Great house!

We've stayed at this beautiful home multiple times and always have the best time! The home is so clean and has everything you need and then some! They've added a beautiful dock that the whole family enjoys. They love fishing off of it and watching the dolphins daily. Can't wait till our next stay!

Dauphin Island never disappoints! This house was a wonderful fit for our family of 4. We enjoyed the beach across the street, west end beach and the bay behind the house. Shelling was amazing due to the storm that had come through. Skinners seafood was dinner most nights. Wonderful views from each part of the house.

This home has EVERYTHING and then some! It is a beautiful space that FEELS like your at HOME! It has beach everywhere you look. We saw dolphins several times throughout the week as well as so many other cool water creatures. Our kids were entertained the entire week. The sunsets - well there are no words. The owners of this home have ensured to have anything and everything a family would need to enjoy, relax and do activities. The home is very spacious. They have really thought of it all! Thank you for sharing such a beautiful space with us!

The pier was great. Loved the screen area and the outside shower.

What a beautiful place. The porch, the dock, the endlessly changing sky and water and marsh. The shallow, calm Bay beach directly behind the house was great for our four year old, and we could see and hear the big ocean beach right across the street - the public beach is maybe 3 houses down? - easily walkable. Well-equipped kitchen for nights in. Spent every second not sleeping or at the beach either on the porch or the dock. We will definitely be back.

Couldn’t of asked for a better place! Location was great. Sound out the back door and the ocean views from the front!!

We loved staying in this house so much. The accommodations were impeccable and the views were amazing from everywhere inside and outside of the house. This stay provided my family the most relaxing and fun getaway and we are already planning our next trip to the island!

We have traveled to Dauphin Island at least once a year for a decade, and stayed in a different house each time because there were always pretty good but not quite right. I booked this house for next year before we even checked out this time. The location is perfect. It was perfectly clean. The furniture was comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. It’s perfect.

The views from this house were amazing! The screened porch was a fantastic feature. Great beach house and location! Our kids loved the bunk room too.

Wonderful clean property with excellent views. Only complaint is with Vacasa about early check-in. They said we would get a text when it was clean/ready. We drove by ourselves and noticed cleaner had left and got in early; text never came.

Property is clean, layer out well and beautifully situated with views of the bay and the gulf. Pier in the bay is a great place to relax with some fishing, wildlife watching and relaxing while the sun goes down.

This is our second time staying here. They are in the process of building a boardwalk with a pier on the bay. Nice!

We loved Island Sunset! Perfect size for our 4 adults, 4 kids, and the teen. The toddler had a great time going from house to porch and it was safe for him to roam with latches on the screen doors. The views are spectacular and we loved the boardwalk out to the little beach. There were thunderstorms one night but the house was snug and cozy. This will be my first choice of rentals whenever we visit DI.

We stayed in later October '22 with two families and we had a blast. Island Sunset had everything we needed. The pictures actually did not show everything in the common area - there's an additional couch and chair not shown (providing more seating than we thought). There was also pull-out twin mattresses under the twin beds - this was necessary for the five kids in our group. The house was walking distance to the West End beach, which was the highlight of our trip.
The house was clean and the kitchen was fully stocked with more than enough utensils, pans, etc. for our cooking. This house is definitely on our list when we come back to Dauphin Island.
Several suggestions for those coming to the island: 1. Go on a dolphin excursion on The Duke through Dauphin Island Marina. Our kids enjoyed it. Dolphins are more prevalent in May-July as the fall months bring in jelly fish and making other fish less frequent. 2. If you like sea shells, go to the West End beach at low tide. Or, rent a boat (or walk) to get to the far end of West End about 9 miles past the West End Beach parking lot. 3. The Aquarium is small but fun. The volunteers there provide added value with live displays of aquatic life and other items. There's a touch tank of sting rays (our trip also had horseshoe crabs and a baby shark too). 4. The Little Red School House is worth a quick trip, it has artifacts and pictures of the island to give you its quick history. 5. Fort Gaines, Indian Shell Mound Park, Cadillac Square, and Audubon Bird Sanctuary are good trips - but we prefer others listed above (bring bug spray!).

This home is perfectly located with a beautiful bay beach behind it and easy waking access to the public beach. Outside deck was great for dinners. Would definitely stay here again.
Only complaint about the island is the restaurants are terrible, not worth your time or money. We cooked our own seafood from skinners most of the nights. Pizza at pirates was good for a quick meal.

We all had a great time together, spent alot of time on the back deck, and of coarse the beach. We are all definitely looking forward to next year for another family vacation, thank you for your hospitality.

Our family of four (both kids college-aged) stayed here Christmas 2021. The house was amazing. Decorations were awesome, furniture very comfortable, clean, well stocked with kitchen cookware, and check in was easy. We received a code to the door the morning of arrival. The house has the bay side out the back door and the Gulf is across the street from the front door. The house is three houses from the end of the street, so the family would walk down the undeveloped beach area. Our son went about four miles down the beach one morning Huge screened-in porch to keep the bugs at bay is also a huge plus, and TVs that don’t require an IT degree was awesome. Lately it seems we land in houses with multiple remote controls. This was one basic remote with an on and off button, perfect! And the town was very low key. I recommend getting groceries on the mainland, especially spirits if you like mixers. What I normally pay $42 in Texas for a bottle was $70 on the island. $25 bottle of vodka in Texas was $50 on Dauphin. The house was absolutely perfect. The ferry ride, Fort Gaines, Lighthouse Bakery, all must-do’s. My only complaint would be with the management company who appears to be trying to save nickels and dimes. Although the house was clean beyond belief, we arrived, family of four for one week, to find four rolls of toilet paper, one roll of Scott towels, two trash bags, no Kleenex in the bathroom, three dish-washer pods in a ziploc on the counter, and no salt or sugar. Huge container of pepper, but no salt (although the owners do have a specialty spice rack that they obviously keep stocked). I understand not having an overloaded cabinet, but 15+ years of VRBO, we have always had salt and sugar and enough detergent to do dishes daily, especially a family of four. And two kitchen trash bags for a week when the house sleeps ten…crazy. For the price paid, it should have these essential items supplied. So plan to buy even the most basic of items prior to your arrival or pay a premium on the island. This isn’t a reflection on the owner or house, simply the management company. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and simply pack toilet paper, trash bags, salt, etc. Thanks for an amazing week on Dauphin Island. This is a great property.

I was impressed with the Vacasa process. The renting, the payment, the communication were good. The texts and emails leading up to the trip were good along with Check-In instructions and process as well as locating the property.

The house and location is great for relaxing. The screened porch was great for relaxing in the evening or the times it rained. The house was perfect for the kids. This place is a fisherman's paradise the sound behind the house has a not so great smell but it was less wavy so the kids could play, lots of hermit crabs to play with and seashells to pick up, a boy caught a black tip shark there and there was a fisherman with his boat that showed up every morning. We like the house and if a,relaxing stay is what you want this is probably the place for you.
