We had a wonderful stay and couldn’t ask for anything better. The property was clean, private, safe. Our host Mark was more than helpful with all of our inquiries. Very prompt and professional with his responses. If anyone is concerned about not having air-conditioning, it was not needed at all. The ocean breeze and ceiling fans were adequate. This location had all the amenities that were needed. Also close to grocery, bakery, and a short bus ride into Placencia. We would definitely go back! The property manager and his family were super friendly and everything was very well-maintained. A shout out for the nearby car/golf cart rental Leo’s. We can’t wait to return to Maya beach ❤️

Perfect place to experience Belize
This was our second visit to Belize and we absolutely enjoyed every minute of our time at Barnacle Bills. The owners were gracious enough to provide us with a pickup to the property and then gave us a tour. The laid back beach cabanas are just our style. It had everything that we needed and groceries were just a couple minute bike ride away. The beach was beautiful and there is nothing better than enjoying a cup of coffee on the deck as the sun rises. We took advantage of the kayaks and bikes as well as some of the snorkel gear. Overall, a lovely place with great owners. We were very sad to have to leave.

The cabana was a great place to stay. It was exactly what we were looking for for a beach get away. Bill and Adriane were great hosts. Highly recommend.

The owners were nice and easily reachable. The bungalow was okay. The hammock wasn't cotton and seems to be rotting away. The beach was not very clean. There was sea weed and trash along the beach. This was not just at this location but up and down the peninsula. None of the local restaurants or bars were open past 9pm unless you went to Placencia Village. The small "mini-mart" across the road and down maybe 100 feet had dogs that barked all night long. It was very hard to sleep. If we ever come back to Belize it will be a different area.

Absolutely perfect!
Bill and Adriene are wonderful hosts and the cabin was perfect with my own private beach. Everyone in the area is very friendly and the food and cocktails were fantastic

Bill went out of his way to accommodate us for anything we asked for, from a rental car to trying to line up fishing for us. Unfortunately we were unable to go due to weather conditions but even though we are leaving to go to another resort , Bill said if we wanted to try another day he would be happy to line it up for us. The sunrises have been incredible and there is good snorkeling right in front of the property. There are many bars and restaurants near by and walking, biking, or our favorite kayaking to these places added fun to the experience.

Low Key, Beachfront Abode
This beachfront bungalow had everything we needed and nothing we didn't. Bill and Adrian were terrific hosts - going so far as to pick up and drop us off from the airport as well as taking us to get provisions at the local grocery upon arrival. Bill also helped set up a fishing trip for my husband. And, he went so far as to give us the shirt off his back - literally! Great place to enjoy paradise.

Everything You Need, Right on the Beach
When we first discovered Belize in 2006, we stayed at Barnacle Bill's and it was just wonderful. Twelve years later it's just the same except there are more restaurants & stores nearby. You can pretty much get everything you need within walking distance yet it still has a secluded atmosphere. Of course the beach is just a few paces from the front porch. Barnacle Bill's will always be special to us.

Beautiful place to relax right on the beach
This cute little bungalow was just what we needed! It was everything as described; simple and clean, comfortable, just steps away from the beach. More importantly to us it was delightfully quiet - we felt like we were on a deserted island. We took a couple tours (Mayan ruins and Monkey River boat trip were great) and walked to a couple nice restaurants, but mostly sat in the sun and swam and kayaked and soaked up the tranquil peace. A very simple mom and pop restaurant 75 yards away became our go to place for simple but delicious meals. This was a true getaway from everything loud and busy. Adriene and Bille were consummate hosts; gave us everything we needed, including lots of time by ourselves! This place is a winner and not to be missed if you're looking to escape.

Lovely place on the beach
We loved this little bungalow. The property next door was cleared recently so it gave us an even better view of the ocean. Overall a beautiful property

A beautiful and charming Belize treasure !
Barnacle Bills Beach Bungalows is everything we were looking for in our search for a tropical paradise. The bungalows are cute as can be and with the kitchen we were able to make our own snacks and lunches to eat under the palm shades near the water. Bill and Adriane were great and helped us in not only directions but also in things we should see while there. The beach area is ideal and we loved the wildlife we were able to observe right there on the property. The propery is immaculate and the views are amazing. We had the best time of our lives and I am already saving up to go again. The rates to stay there are incredibly reasonable and the money we saved making our own lunches allowed us to go on more tours while there. There is a store within walking distance, and several great restaurants. The perfect place to stay on your trip to Maya Beach !!

Enjoyed Barnacle Bill's Beach Bungalows So Much We Returned
Looking for a stress free vacation in the tropics? Look no further! As a “repeat offender”, (12 nights in January 2014 and 12 nights in January 2015) it is with great pleasure that I write this review. Barnacle Bill’s Beach Bungalows is the most relaxing place I have ever had the privilege to stay. Imagine waking to a spectacular sunrise, listening to the waves, enjoying a coffee on your ocean front balcony, while watching pelicans and many other birds as you plan your day. Their comfortable one bedroom bungalows are equipped with everything you need and are only steps from the ocean. The two palapas on the beach, with ample seating, (where you do not have to get up early to reserve a chair like so many “all –inclusive” resorts), are waiting for you. Need to connect? No problem! Wifi is available both in your cabin and on the beach. Bill and Adrianne have gone to great lengths landscaping their property to ensure that each bungalow is very private. Everything, including a charcoal bbq, is available if you want to cook your own meals, however, there are several wonderful restaurants within walking distance. Bill and Adrianne are available to make arrangements and recommendations for escorted tours, car and golf cart rentals, taxis as well as flights within Belize. We enjoyed excursions to Monkey River, Cockscomb Jaguar Reserve, a banana farm tour, Mayan ruins and a guided fishing charter. Heading to Placencia? Here you will find a quaint village filled with friendly restaurants and bars where you will be able to enjoy great food and often there is live music. Staying home? Two kayaks, two bicycles and virtually a private beach where you can snorkel or float on an inflatable chair all afternoon are available to you. Thank you both for another fantastic holiday in paradise!

A perfect week!
We had an incredibly relaxing and enjoyable week at Barnacle Bills. We spent most of our time eating, drinking and hanging out under our very own beach huts. Some great restaurants, bars and a bowling alley within walking distance. The way the bungalos are built make for a perfect breeze flowing through the house. Not to mention waking up to the gorgeous sunrise. We enjoyed our daily morning coffees chatting with Bill. Bill and Adriane were very helpful hosts and we hope to go back!

Best Place in Maya Beach
The place looks even better in person than it does in the pictures, and it looks great in the pictures. It is comfortable, private, relaxing, and just what we were looking for. It is not the Marriott, but that is not what we came for. The facilities are nicely furnished, and the service from the owners is friendly without being intrusive. The location is convenient for trips to Mayan ruins, exploring the Toledo and Stann Creek districts, and taking adventure trips from the peninsula. After two wonderful weeks of checking out the area, we knew that Maya Beach was the best spot on Placencia Peninsula, and Barnacle Bill's was the best spot in Maya Beach. We highly recommend a snorklel trip with Splash to Silk Caye, and a trip to Lubaantun. The Bistro, Mango's and Singing Sands are all nearby and are good places to eat. We chose our destination well and would return to this piece of paradise any time. If you want to vacation in a well-maintained, cute and clean cottage 40 steps across the white sand to the water, this is the place for you.

We had a little slice of heaven, for eight short days.
We spent eight days at Barnacle Bill's Beach Bungalos and it went by way too fast. The location was much better than I expected. The way the property is set up feels so secluded but it is close by to anything we needed. I never felt like a tourist or the least bit crowded. Bill and Adriane are available and great for a chat yet not the least bit intrusive.
We took a few days to relax and unwind and then told Bill we wanted to go fishing, snorkeling and out to Xunantunich. Bill advised us and then made all the arrangements for us. Those are memories that we will never forget.
Our bungalo was perfect and exactly what the photos displayed. I went with the best intentions, to cook some of our meals but the nearby restuarants we so reasonable it didn't make sense. The 'Hungry Gecko' was by far our favorite and it was only across the street. Great food, great prices and felt more like home. Justin kept us entertained, Diane showed me how to make tortillas, Doris shared recipes and cooked our barracuda when we brought it to her after fishing.
Singing Sands was pricier and more pretensious, Mango's food was great and resonable. In Placencia we also tried 'Wendy's, Barefoot Bar and J-Dees for breakfast and got a great meal at all of them.
I was able to spend a couple afternoons out snorkeling right off the beach with the cheap gear I bought at Walmart. It was perfect, got some great pictures and so easy to access. We are hoping to go back next year so I would definately recommend it to anyone looking for thier own 'Little slice of Heaven'. However, next time I will know better to NOT over pack. The place is so laid back and comfortable that I didn't need half of what I brought. Just bring shorts, a few shirts some flip-flops and you are good to go.
See y'all next year!

Beautiful Belize Beckons at Barnacle Bill's Beach Bungalows
It had been a long winter when we boarded a plane from Canada to Belize in mid-April, and we gladly welcomed the sunny warmth upon our arrival. After picking up our rental vehicle, we had a short drive, and spent an enjoyable first night near the Belize Zoo (the night tour of the zoo is recommended). The following day, we enjoyed the scenic (though locally smoky, due to seasonal brush fires) drive down the Western, Hummingbird and Southern highways to Placenicia peninsula. We arrived at the Beach Bungalows before mid afternoon. Though early, Bill and Adriane, our hosts, were most helpful in getting us settled in. We had taken up on their offer to have the fridge stocked with some items before our arrival, and having cold beverages waiting was most welcome. We also took up the offer to sample Bill's fine cooking the first night, and highly recommend his enchiladas.
We found the accomodations much to our liking - simple, but well appointed, with large louvered screened windows making the most of the trade winds. The two bungalows on the property are about 60 ft from the shore, and as always, I found the crashing surf quite relaxing. The beach itself is stereotypically tropical and beautiful, the sand the color and texture of light brown sugar, studded with coconut palms, palmettos and sea grape. We spent much of our first afternoon (and good portions of those following) enjoying the view from the shore, coconut rum cocktail in hand, lounging in the adirondacks underneath one of the two palapas(and over Scurvy). It was relaxing to watch the pelicans, cormorants, gulls, egrets and vultures as they made there daily passes.
We found the Barnacle Bill's to be an excellent base, with several fine restaurants within walking distance, including Mango's (excellent beach view and food), the Maya Beach Hotel, the Hungry Gecko, and the Singing Sands, and a grocery for most needs. Other restaurants are a 10 to 15 minute drive away in Seine Bight and Placencia. The excellent Cockscomb Jaguar preserve and ecological reserve was only a 25 minute drive away, with excellent hikes and helpful staff. Good Maya sites we visited such as Nim Li Punit and Lubaantun were a 45 min drive south. We also highly recommend Splash Dive Center, and two terrific snorkelling trips to the Silky Cayes and Ranguana near the reef.
Bill and Adriane were always helpful with suggestions when asked, but never intrusive. We felt fortunate to share their piece of paradise for 13 days.

We just left Barnacle Bil...
We just left Barnacle Bill's Dec. 29th, we stayed for 11 days. We will be going back as soon as we can. This is a eco-freindly property. The landscaping has been kept in its natural habitat. There are lots of beautiful birds, and tropical plant life. You can snorkle right out on the beach, lots of coral, fish and the biggest star fish I have ever seen! They have kayaks on the property that you can take out to False Caye. We saw dolphins swimming right out in front of our beach! The setting and beach are the best on Maya Beach...we compared it to other properties while there. Lots of privacy. The owners, Bill & Adriane Taylor are more than helpful in suggesting the best sights to see while you are there. They will stock your fridge with grocery's before you get there and even made our flight arrangements for Maya Air from Belize City. We could have driven, but it's a 3 1/2 hr. drive. And thier dog Scurvy is a great pal, and good watch dog! I highly recommend Barnacle Bill's Beach Bungalows. The experience was beyound our expectations! It was the best vacation ever!!!
