About this house rental
New Owners of this Beautiful Cabin, Continuing the Bear Valley Tradition
**********
VISITING IN WINTER? PLEASE READ: Bear Valley is a special place in the winter - most roads are closed to cars and groomed for skiers and snowmobiles. This means you cannot drive directly to the cabin. The cabin is a 20 minute walk from parking (just over a 1/2 mile), mostly on groomed snow. There is a nice shortcut we call the "cut through"- that makes the walk much shorter - it is sometimes easy to navigate, but after a fresh snow, it may require snowshoes.
If you have never visited Bear Valley in winter, please count on hiring the local snowmobile taxi for your initial trip into the cabin and for when you leave. We will leave at least one pair of adult and one pair of kid snowshoes at the cabin for you to explore while you visit. Intermediate/advanced skiers can ski to the shuttle and back down to the cabin - sometimes it is necessary to carry your skis through the "cut through" or uphill a bit.
Feel free to check with the owner before booking. I'm happy to give you lots of additional info.

PETS: Up to two well-behaved dogs allowed for no additional fee.

Summer and winter: the perfect spot for relaxation or a magical adventure
This roomy (1,700 square foot) chalet-style house is on a quiet cul-de-sac away from the main road. While it’s walking distance to Bear Lake and the Bear Valley village center in both summer and winter, the natural setting and surrounding trees make you feel like you’re out in the woods.
The House: Great sun and a spacious second-floor deck expand the great room making it perfect for entertaining, relaxing, or star-gazing. In addition to the great room upstairs, the home features a large family room downstairs perfect for kids to have their own space. Four bedrooms outfitted with King, queen and bunk beds, make it possible to sleep up to 12 comfortably. The large flat backyard is great for horseshoes and Bocci ball in summer and snowmen and snow forts in winter.
For a winter time adventure...
Central heating with a Nest® thermostat means the place is cozy and warm when you arrive. The two-story configuration puts your primary living space well above the winter snow in all but the snowiest years, so it’s bright and airy year-round. The covered entry and exterior lighting make it easy to get in – even with the deepest snow. The woodstove adds a cozy charm to the upstairs while the spacious mudroom and adjoining storage room keeps the clutter of skis, boots, or snowshoes tidy and organized. The cul de sac is the perfect spot for winter sledding and it's right out the front door!
For a summertime getaway...
Its summertime in Bear Valley & the living is easy! There are so many wonderful summer activities in our neck of the woods: Get your heart rate up with rock climbing, mountain biking, or cavern exploration; or take it easy with a trip to the vineyards & wineries around the valley. Hike to a swimming hole for a refreshing dip before you head to the Bear Valley music festival to dance and catch fireflies. Bear Valley Village is just short walk from the cabin, and the weather is perfect for a trip into town for ice-cream. Walk to. the nearby Bear Lake reservoir and utilize the provided rugged sit-on-top kayak and SUP (stand up paddle board) or travel a few miles to the larger Lake Alpine where you can rent watercraft for an hour or a day.
When sunset rolls around, enjoy drinks on the deck and catch a view of the milky way later in the evening. Enjoy using the large propane grill to prepare outdoor meals.
No matter the season, this home is the perfect sanctuary for you and your family to enjoy year-round.

Great house. Well equipped kitchen. Lovely owner. We have had a great time two years running.

Home is very nice and comfortable. The mix with snowfall on Wednesday night and powder skiing on Thursday was really great. The experience of skiing back to the home from the mountain was really epic. The move in and out required some effort but was OK unless you are really young or really old. We skied down to the shuttle to the mountain and then skiied back at the end of the day to the house which was the single most event that I liked..The beds were really comfortable with flannel sheets that made for a good night's rest. Overall good.

This has rustic charm, but it was clean and had everything you need for a nice stay. We are snowmobilers so the convenience for riding our sleds directly to the cabin with the parking area already plowed was nice. The communication with the owners was excellent.

We were expecting a great snowboard weekend, and the host did a great job with accommodations to make that happen.

The Property owner Cathy was exceptional..everything like she said it was and more....Grandchildren LOVED making snowmen and playing in the snow in June...With all the snow this year it was GREAT! Family wants to come back when everything is thawed out and enjoy the lake and all. Thank you again for the amazing family trip!

The home was cozy, comfortable and well stocked. My 2 youngst daughters, husband, dog and I went up for a short escape. Our arrival date was between storms. The owner was fabulous about communication with road closures etc.. Would absolutly stay here again .

We love a cozy winter getaway far from the Tahoe crowds. This cabin was perfectly inviting, well maintained and supplied, and had lots of room for our family to be together and have quiet time too. The listing was very accurate about the cabin and amenities and the winter access situation. The owner was a pleasure to work with and very responsive to our questions. We loved that the kitchen had every single thing we looked for when cooking during our stay. Given that we were there during a storm, we were glad we had brought groceries to self cater for the whole trip. We had planned to visit the restaurant at the lodge, but never did. Nearby skiing, both downhill and cross country, was a big success. We look forward to coming back next year.

Spacious and Clean
We rented this cabin for a bridal party and their plus-ones. There was plenty of private space for all, and the location is private and quiet, yet central and close to the village and Bear Lake. The owners are flexible and easy to get ahold of. Highly recommend this cabin for a mid-sized group!

We had a blast
The property was excellent for our purpose. I took 5 teens and my husband up to Bear Valkey to hike, swim and relax. The property is in a quaint community with access to Bear Lake a private community lake with a rope swing, hiking paths and a small beach area. You can drive a bit further to explore Lake Alpine or Stanislaus county. The house is quirky but charming with lots of cooking supplies. We cooked all our meals and you MUST bring all your food. Arnold is about 30 min drive away and during pandemic times the small shop will have the basics but was only open Wednesday-Saturday. The house has 2 levels an upstairs with a big kitchen and living area , bathroom and 2 bedrooms and pretty much the same set up downstairs except no kitchen. Our 5 teen girls ages 15-17 took over the downstairs with 2 bedrooms that can easily sleep more than 6 in queen and bunk beds. Best part: you cannot hear them upstairs. The upstairs leads out to an amazing deck, shady in the AM but you also have a small deck in the front with morning sun.
Check in was easy and communication with Dave who is a VERY responsive host and guide was much appreciated. We used a food service like Fresh Choice and Home Chef to make our dinner planning easier. Great time. Definitely will be back.
